this video is a great help ! however i do have a question. the port number changed itself to 2999 after i restart my routers. how can i check what being set previously. I remember i do follow the guides set as 3000
Great question!! My answer is... It depends 😉. You saw that coming right. Haha... Seriously though, if you are looking specifically for an ad blocker then either one will work great. The difference comes up when you want to dig into other functionality, which then leads me toward favoring AdGuard Home. AdGuard Home provides more features and customization options (DNS over HTTPS, malware filtering and parental controls). Pi-hole, because it doesn't offer as many additional options, tends to be easier to use and navigate it's web ui as well. Hope that helps? Good luck with which ever option you choose.
Hi Digital Aloha, I initially tried with the yaml configurations you put in the description but it didn't work. I noticed that, contrary to what I see in the video, the script in the description has references in capital letters (e.g. image: AdGuard/AdGuardhome instead of image: adguard/adguardhome). I made the references all lowercase and it worked right away. Thanks for your very useful video
My Synology DS918+ Package Center does not show any results at all for "container". "container manager" shows other stuff but not "Container Manager"… Maybe my Synology NAS is too old or something?
You're Synology NAS should support Container Manager. Double-check that you're running version 7.2 of DSM. That is the version where Container Manager was made available. Good luck!!
I followed the guide and installation worked, but i can't reach adguard. When i try to connect i get a message saying Safari can't connect to the server. Please help...
same here, adguard doesnt running.. if you look in containerstation, the dot isnt green which it should if its running, but gray, which means it wont run
thank you so much. this is what I am looking for my Synology
You're welcome... Glad to hear that the video was helpful! Regarding Frigate, I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Thank you, that was really helpfull and easy to follow!

Would you say that AdGuard home is better that pihole now? Thanks!

Any chance of making a video about setting up adguard sync if say you want to setup adguard on two devices.
Thanks for the video suggestion. I'll look into creating a video on adguard sync sometime in the future.

I confirm, I had the same problem.
Thanks for pointing the capital letters out!! That was my fault when editing the document I had the YAML in. Should be corrected now.
Nice! Any “ad”vantage of using this vs PiHole?
Thanks for the video, looking forward to the MacVLAN video as doing it that way is a bit confusing to me.

container manager is solely provided to newer synology models. its predecessor in the synology package centre is docker.
