How to replace LG Stylo 5 screen
LG Stylo 4 screen replacement
You are more informing silent than any of the others who spoke. Thank you.
Just want to let you know that of all the videos, yours was the one that gave me the confidence to buy the parts. Time to find the best kit. Thanks!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼MAY ALL BEINGS BE FREE FROM SUFFERING AND ITS CAUSES IN PERFECT EQUANIMITY🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks! I'm glad you tried it out. 😁
Great video! Just figured I'd mention watch out for the flex cable for the on button and stylus sensor when cutting back case open. Sliced right through it!
Thanks for update Joseph! Sorry to hear you cut it. Luckily it's repairable!
Easy fix, 13$ part! Thank you for the video!!
I did the same thing!!!
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. If you have any questions on repairing it let me know.
Awesome video. And THANK YOU for doing a reassembly. So many forget to show it or so it sped up. But man that seems like a lot of work. I miss the days when taking a phone apart was easy.
It has gotten harder. Once you figure them out though it's not too bad. But the learning curve is rough!
@@JoeDoesStuff I've always used mid-range phones. I'm a basic user. But in the last several years they been copycats of the high end ones. Slippery material, non removable battery, hard to replace screen, adhesive EVERYWHERE. It's all the difficult without the benefits like wireless charging and water proofing. With mid-range devices it's all a style choice. Rubbish.
Thanks for the video it took me same amount of time to replace mine. Now im thanking you using my repaired phone. Thanks again
That's awesome!
Does it save your data when you fix the screen???
If you haven’t erased your data then it will be there.
I know this is an older video, and I greatly enjoyed it. It's finally time to get mine fixed after all these years.📱
tired of the song but i replaced my wife's stylo 5 thanks to your help! THANK YOU
Dude it’s hard for me to find decent free music lol. Drop a link if you know of any! Also glad I could help!
You deserve more subscribers and have certainly earned mine. Thanks for providing this video. I look forward to watching all the rest!
Thanks Timothy 😊
Great video for the LG5 Stylo screen replacement!!! Thank You so much!!!
I really want to know this song. Great video! Love watching people’s break downs!
Super detailed and helpful, repairing my phone today!
Did exactly what he did and it worked out great. Thank you. The only thing when I tried to test the screen when he did it didn't work. I kept going and tested again right before I put the back on and it worked perfectly. Thanks again.
Awesome to hear Tom! Thanks for the comment.
Thanks! Used this to fix my mom’s phone! Do you have to put the foil sticker thing back over the loudspeaker assembly?
I followed this video and help me out in fixing my phone. Although, before buying all the necessary parts and starting your repair I recommend looking at other videos, and doing more research, including reading comments and understanding other mistakes that people made along the way and what to avoid.
I wasn't being careful with the plastic mid-frame and broke a small part of it.
Sorry to hear Kyaire. I've been thinking about how I need to explain the critical moments better in my videos. I'll definitely get it figured out!
Great video thanks. assume it's quite the same for the aristo 5. Also not sure what that liquid you used around the bat was but I'll check the description
I haven't repaired an Aristo 5 yet so I'm not sure. I can put on the to do list though! The liquid I used around the battery is isopropyl alcohol. It literally temporarily deactivates the adhesive so it's crazy easy to remove the battery.
@@JoeDoesStuff thanks!
Joe does stuff right, great job on the vid! 👍🏻
Excellent video, followed it exactly and got my screen replaced. Be careful prying the battery, I accidentally pierced mine and had to buy a replacement, which thankfully was only $15-$20
GREAT VIDEO AND GREAT BACKGROUND MUSIC! Thanks.
Thanks Bob!
This will help me so much. So far ive replaced the battery. Yesterday the charging port and now i need the screen. Actually quite fun. Please tell me what mm size adhesive tape you used for the front and back of the lg stylo 5 before i order?? Also possibly a order link to buy more of the mini screws. Thank you
I would use 1mm on the border of the screen. And anything honestly on the back. injuredgadgets.com usually has the screws.
@@JoeDoesStuff great. Thank you. I previously ordered the charging port piece from injured gadgets. I'll order from them again.
Do you have a link to a reliable replacement screen for the Stylo 4, or will the stylo 5 replacement screen work?
Any suggestions for a manufacturer to get a decent Stylo 4 replacement charging port & battery?
Thanks for this great video- I’m a fan of your channel now for sure. Ditto on the gratitude for showing the rebuild!
The 4 and 5 do share the same screen. injuredgadgets.com has good parts. Here’s the screen link:

Just wondering. Would it be fine to buy a replacement digitizer/screen on Amazon? They are all around 4 stars but have atleast a few reviews about lasting 2 months before blacking out.
Great Video love how its So detailed......my one question because the screen I'm replacing is so shattered the glass is falling out and the black piece is coming out all ripped up.....the new screen we ordered doesn't have the black piece......is that a problem???
Ah the screen bezel. There’s really only 2 ways to get another one… Grab one from a dead stylo, or buy the screen/frame assembly. It’s only about $20 more than just the screen. Here’s a link (not affiliate) to the black body. The other colors are available also on the site.

@@JoeDoesStuff thank You So So Much
thanks, any advise as to why my screen is white and i cannot see anything?
Do you need the lcd ribbon cable thing? Like that mirror shiny piece? Will the phone work without it because i ordered a new screen off amazon and it came with just the screen, not that part so im wondering if i can do the replacement without it or if i can use the same one attached to my phone rn or what? Pls help
Also i really liked the close up on this video so i could see what u are doing and what pieces you were taking out n stuff :)
If you ordered just the glass, that repair is very difficult and usually unsuccessful. If you're doing just glass, then you don't need the ribbon cable. If you're doing the whole front assembly, like I did in the video, then the ribbon cable is attached to the assembly.
@@JoeDoesStuff wait so, all im trying to do is replace my screen since its cracked. So am i not gonna need that lcd ribbon cable part?
Not for just the screen. But I don't recommend trying that.
@@JoeDoesStuff ok thanks for all the help i decided im gonna do some more research and figure out if im gonna need to order another part or something. But i really appreciate that you helped and i didnt expect you to respond to my comment! Thank you!
Anytime! You certainly welcome to try just the glass. Usually the lcd gets messed up or the there's a bunch of crud that gets stuck between the pieces. Then you just have to replace the whole assembly. But just glass will make you want to pull your hair out lol.
Let me know if you have any more questions 😊
Awesome video, where can we get that adhesive and the alcohol dropper?
Thanks Anthony! The links to everything is under the "REPAIR" part of the description.
This video is so helpful, but I can't seem to get all of the screws out of my phone. Do you have any tips on how to loosen a few stubborn screws?
I'm sorry this is hard to deal with. Usually a larger bit or trying some needle-nose plyers can help.
What I do is buy a needle file kit and cut a slot in them for a flat blade. Sometimes that's the best way. I also love using a drill to just drill the cap off the screw, then remove it with pliers after. Good luck
Very nice video! Everything is detailed except the fact that the new screen needs to be transferred to the very thin plastic frame that's glued to the old one. At first I thought the new screen was wrong or small but then I noticed the difference. But otherwise a very good tutorial! 👌🏽
Thanks Eshban. Sorry I didn't explain that more clear.
@@JoeDoesStuff no worries, good video either way!
Nice video, how can I get a new screen for LG Stylo5?
amzn.to/3sU7G9d
Hey so im looking to replace my phone screen since its cracked.. One question that i have is that if you do this..will any of the data be deleted? Like passwords apps etc? Also where do you reccomend getting the screen
Hey Delanie, none of your data will be deleted. I have a link in the description with the screen I used.
@@JoeDoesStuff thank you so much!!
@@JoeDoesStuff just subbed and liked :))
No problem. Make sure you plug the new screen in and test it before attaching it to the phone. Sometimes I get faulty screens so it's better to test so you can return it if it's a bad one.
Thanks for subbing and liking 😁
It worked. Your awesome thank you so much
Awesome!
Everything looks just like a Stylo 4. Are the the same frames for both Stylo 4 and 5?
Yep. They're basically the same phone. The screen fits both.
No there not the battery is bigger in the stylo 5. The phone cases wont fit.
Frame is same. But, no.. they are not quite the same phone.
There the same mine was exactly like the video and everything wrks perfect
You put on the description "LG aristo and lg g5". Are those screens compatible with Stylo 5 or is just something else?
Those are just other LG videos to watch or if you clicked on the wrong video.
I need to replace just the front glass. Can I do this without full disassembly?
I don’t recommend it. If you have the proper equipment, it’s easier, but still not easy. Here’s a video where I tried to do glass only on an iPhone with the tools supplied with the glass.
ruclips.net/video/CRAWLG1PtKU/видео.html
More times than not, you will spend exceedingly more time and money than just replacing the screen assembly.
@@JoeDoesStuff Gotcha, Thanks for the reply. Looks like digitizer with glass it is.
I'm doing the same to my LG Stylo 5 soon
My question is....
What is the tool that u use to heat case of the phone?
It's called a heat gun. Here's a link to an inexpensive one.
www.amazon.com/dp/B00EU2T8GG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_dZWcGb43PHPVN
he used a heat gun but I used a blow dryer and it worked just as well
Blow dryers work pretty well. I’ve used them before. It does make the repair a bit tougher. They don’t evenly distribute heat like a heat gun.
@@JoeDoesStuff never realized that yes is making it harder on the screen part for sure lol still stuck on that.
@@JoeDoesStuff did you see my other question
Maybe a dumb question but what does adding alcohol do for the battery?
Hey Kevin that's not dumb at all. The alcohol loosens the adhesive holding the battery down. I mean like really loosens it. But the alcohol isn't necessary. You can remove the battery with just some heat and prying. Just be careful and try not to bend the battery too much as that can ruin it.
Awh Gotcha thanks! 👍
Also I bought the screen you suggested and was curious what the rubber bands are for? Are they a waterproof seal?
I'm not sure what rubber bands you're talking about... Do you mean the red strips I put on? If so that's the new adhesive.
No I got that part but the new LCD screen came with some Rubber bands in the Whips pack with the Sim card pin I was curious what the Rubber bands was for everything else makes sense same LCD screen kit you listed in the description
Thanks much
Mine doesn't work. The phone turns on but the screen doesn't work. What did i do wrong and can I go back and fix it?
Hey Stephanie! Did the screen turn on when you tested it? It could be 1 of 3 things.
1. A faulty screen (occasionally happens)
2. A poor connection from the screen to board. Just unplugg it and make sure all the copper teeth are in good shape and reconnect.
3. If you flexed the ribbon cable at all on the screen, they are easy to pull apart and that would cause the screen not to turn on. If you got it from Amazon they will accept a return/exchange still.
Can someone let me know if JUST the screen can be replaced if its cracked? The digitizer is fine as i can use the touchscreen just fine. The screen i can get for $15 but i think it would be like $35 to $60(cant remember which one of those figures it was) for the screen and digitizer.
I wouldn't even try it. Yes, it can be done. But unless this is something you do for a living, you will most likely ruin the lcd. Especially if it's only $45 for the whole assembly.
@@JoeDoesStuff got it. I will get the whole thing for 40$. I will wait till the LG Stylo 7 to see what its like cuz i was considering the stylo 6 but the 7 may be out soon.
Good job bruh
Thanks bruh
This is some real tech stuff but I’ll try
Lol it's not too bad. Just go slow and be patient. Problems happen when you try to rush.
I wish you would've noted not to forget about the top speaker's "vents" from the old LCD and put it onto the new one. I didn't see that in this video.
My new screen came with a new vent already attached. Most of the time when the vent is enclosed in the glass, it’s preinstalled. The ones at the edge of the glass you always have to transfer to the new screen.
thanks I am repairing one right now and was wondering the same exact thing lol
anyone know why touch screen on my stylo 5 is freaking out? I've done a factory reset and that didn't fix it. Does that mean I need to replace the screen cause the digitizer is going bad or could there be some other issue?
Is it moving around on its own? Not responding to touch? Not showing display? Any of these, then yes the screen needs to be replaced.
@@JoeDoesStuff bummer. It's doing the first two.
Wow am I dumb as balls when it comes ta stuff like this 🤦🏻♂️🙅🏻♂️
Lol no man not at all. Patience is all you need.
Why the alcohol tho?
The alcohol loosens the adhesive on the battery, making it easier to removed. Once dried the adhesive is sticky again.
I don't have adhesive strips, does anyone thing I could use rtv blue glue silicone
For you back you might be able to get away with that. It can mess up the oled on the front.
How is just listing 3 different widths of adhesion tape supposed to help and not let us know what to use where? it would be really helpful unless thats obvious somehow and I'm missing it? I guess logically i would assume 4mm goes on the backside where there are no components to block and then 1mm goes on top front and 2mm on front sides? Can you please let me know. Also shouldnt just 1mm and 2mm be sufficient instead of buying 3 roles of tesa tape? If anything could just double up the 2mm for 4mm or just use 1mm and 2mm all around instead of using $30 in stupid tape? You can find a bundle of 1mm,2mm and 3mm for $13 next day i would assume thats fine
I listed everything I used. Of course you can only use 2 sizes. You could even just use 1mm for the entire thing. Your guess on where each size went is correct. I thought I put the sizes in the video as I used them. I usually do, so sorry I forgot this time!
I have to like this vid
Thanks King! I'm glad you liked it.
Dont use a razer blade use a plastic card or something...
I occasionally use plastic cards. Razor blades are generally easier. I find I can control what I’m doing better with one. But I completely understand what you mean.
@@JoeDoesStuff so I know what your saying but it's super dangerous. My trick is to use a plastic opener tool. Let the device warm up on the heat mat for about 5 minutes pry up a little bit from the bottom with an isesmo then put some 90% or above alchohol on the plastic tool and slide it around the edge. It works way better than a blade trust me.
You may need to re apply the alcohol but it will work better and really you dont even need heat doing it that way but it is a little easier when you heat it.
I’ll have to try it out with alcohol on the card. I’ve never thought of that! I wouldn’t say it’s super dangerous. I’ve been using razer blades for many years and never had issues.
@@JoeDoesStuff unfortunately all it takes is once lol. I was trained by some old school guys and I tell you what im super thankful. Ive now owned a few repair businesses and very successful.
Almost as easy as an iPod video
Thanks!
This is bullshit. What's the heating device?
@joecox thanks for the tutorial
