I really enjoyed this video! I have 9 200w CW/WW 2 cell led Blinders. They have the same issue with not being earthed. I have fixed it tho. Works like charm. But they are nothing compared to the real 1300w der Blinders. And have 1 pretty big downside for me. It has a hard coded dim curve. But they are cheap af
I've had experience with Chinese lights not having an earth connected. My first pair of moving heads had that issue with no earth wired up, and they had a metal base. Personally I wouldn't take the risk buying random unbranded lights online. Also both Roxx and Chauvet make colour changing blinders (and there's probably a few other brands that make them).
I learned from BigClive that the Chinese never connect the ground/earth wire on the inside of the unit. They're probably be a wire or connector outside the unit to connect it to, but on the inside it will be left floating. It could be even pre-stripped but left floating adding to the fun. If you're going to buy from China, be prepared to open the unit up the unit and connect the wire to the metal case yourself. It could be that in China think that grounding a metal case is a waste of time kind of like how the elderly and conservatives think that AC polarization and grounding is Communist. BAH! It will work no matter how you place the wires. Accept, electricians are trying to keep you from nuking yourself and others. If you refuse to wire stuff up by the book, you shouldn't be messing with electricity.
with the amount of things that tend to catch fire from aliexpress/wish/etc, i am really questioning if this is just terrible quality, or if they do this on purpose, untested or with known risks. unless you plan to lit up a Rammstein concert.
If not used professional, but rather as a educational for learning the basics of DMX, they work just fine. But don’t bring them to a show. I myself got some Chinese stuff , but just for fun and education. The price of them makes it worth it for “home use” But yes, it’s a risk, they are of poor quality and most often very wrong described in strength and functions. But nice and informative video again!
Yes indeed. But I see more and more of those questionable fixture in the wild, used by professional AV company. Providers are seduced by the really low price but forget consider the risk of buying such devices

Yes indeed, but there is quite a lot of very talented music producer in the fandom such as Halley labs (to name only one) that I like to use in my videos.
There are different products from different factories. I bought 8 similar (but not the same) blinders from AliExpress and have had zero issues. Better luck next time…
Many those design is even illegal in China, I have no idea how they come up with that, especial use input socket as output socket, only people without knowledge can make that mistake, also a single ground wire to the casing is so simple.
Il n'y a pas de terre sur cette machine !!! Sinon super vidéo ;)

Indeed, I'll eventually buy a differential transformer prob. Much safer to prob on mains power
