Fantastic help. I’m in outback Northern Territory Australia, luckily with phone service so yours was the first video I saw. Very helpful. After a couple of days of using my manual key/ no electronics my fob key started operate door and turning the emergency flashers on. With your help I removed the battery and stopped the shenanigans ❤
CR 2025 came out of my FOB. Not sure what is original or if previous owner slammed a 2025 in, but the slot was way too loose for 2016. There are two little tabs on the silver battery housing that you can push in with a small screwdriver to get a good fit again on the 2016.
I just did this. You don’t need to use the coin. I was able to easily pull the black plastic tabs out with my fingernail and separate the pieces that way. It doesn’t take much force and the tabs don’t need to be pulled out far.
CR2032 and CR2025; CR2025 and CR2016. Since the difference in thickness between the CR2032 and the CR2025 is just 0.7 mm, it is usually possible to fit either one. The same goes for CR2025 and CR2016, where the difference in thickness is 0.9 mm.
I used an oversized flat head screwdriver and it was much better than using a quarter as mine was damaged. To insert the battery push it against the middle of the copper arm and it will drop in place. If you try and put it under the small plastic holders first it will keep popping back up and you may damage them. < < <

Our 2014 CBU FJ Cruiser from Japan has 3 screws. 2 of which holds a cover to a 1616 battery.
Thanks! I used this video and it worked well.
thanks. Perfect explanation.
Great video and great explanation. Worked perfectly. Thanks
thanks, dude. never would have seen the "use the coin" markings, my fob is just too old. Or maybe it's my eyes. haha
