Awesome list! I ordered a book from The Catholic Company a few weeks ago on what Jesus went through being crucified. I know it's going to be a difficult read emotionally, but it's so important to remember what He did for us. I also ordered a Lenten journal and will be doing stations of the Cross on Fridays. P.s. I'm not Catholic, but I'm looking into converting.

In the Philippines, we do visita iglesia (visiting 7 churches walking) during holy week. We also cook "binignit" during good friday and black Saturday. It's a dessert soup and we eat it instead of meals as a way of fasting. All work are prohibited starting 3pm Good Friday until Black Saturday. We wake up around 3-4am to go to church and hear the first mass where children are dressed as angels singing for Jesus. After that, the rest of the day is spent with family celebrating at the beach. It's amazing to see how different we all spend our holy week around the world.

To my knowledge-the liturgical calendar of Lent and Easter is as follows: The 46 days (40 “fasting days”) before Easter Sunday are almost here. Lent itself begins at midnight on Ash Wednesday and ends at sunset on Holy Thursday. The Paschal/Easter Triduum is from sunset Holy Thursday to sunset Easter Sunday. We then enter the 50 days of Easter Time from sunset on Easter Sunday to sunset on Pentecost Sunday-although the Easter celebrations begin at the Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday night.

This may sound stupid - but I'm not totally sure what almsgiving is. Is it just extra giving to the church? Is it donating to the poor? Or just donating to some place special to you, like the Wounded Warrior Project? We never talked about almsgiving in Methodism.

Up until 1966 Church law prohibited meat on all Fridays throughout the entire year. The new law was promulgated in 1983 in the revised Code of Canon Law which states, “Abstinence [is] to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on the Friday of the Passion and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Canon 1251). “All persons who have completed their fourteenth year are bound by the law of abstinence” (Canon 1252). The U. S. Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) extended this law to include all Fridays in Lent.

Hi Heather, Thankyou for your reply 💕. It is 7am on Ash Wednesday here in the UK. I am going to try to wait until 11am before I eat anything, and then maybe have a main meal at 3pm and a small meal again later tonight. I work as a cleaning lady in the evenings so I am always hungry before and after work lol! With having a physical job I have found that I eat quite a lot of food (more than I have ever done before) but I have really been trying my best to do a lot of Rosary so I hope that makes up for it! I love your videos about Catholicism, I find them very grounded and positive. There are a lot of videos out there these days that can feel quite fearful and it just brings a lot of anxiety, I don’t think God wants us going into fear. I love your videos and also ‘Bible in a year’ with Fr Mike. I find art and crafts can also help with anxiety.
God bless you , I hope lent is a blessed time for you and your family. I will offer up some Hail Mary’s for you , please offer one up for me if you can. God bless 🙏🏻

The book has received multiple Imprimatur & Nihil Obstat. There is a prayer that u read 1st on page 21while on your knees . Then after u continue on your knees while reading 1 hour of Jesus's Passion , then remain on your knees while meditating on it ...keeping Him company . After 1 hour total time , you end w the Concluding prayer on page 21. 🙏 Jesus dictated this book 2 His Servant Louisa Piccarreta & said that those who do this will receive many graces &( for each word that is read a soul will be saved.!)
