Hi Heather, placing a tiny bit of blessed salt on my tongue before talking to my extended family. Lol or when I see I’m getting a bit crabby. I don’t want my words to hurt other people. I keep a small jar in my kitchen. But I have a huge bucket of blessed salt! Yes I cook with it.

I drop off a Costco size olive oil, sea salt, a gallon of water and candles at my local parish office to have blessed a couple times per year. I never miss adding blessed salt to my daily cooking. Once in awhile I give my teen blessed water to drink especially when he’s sick with a fever.

Yes ! Just like holy water there’s three types. Holy/blessed, epiphany salt/water and exorcism salt/water. The epiphany is coming up early next year. You can have any parish priest bless your salt/water and your home for an epiphany blessing. I was directed by my priest to use a pinch in the four corners of my room/house once a week.

Salt and prayer. They worked when I needed them to work the most. Catholic prayer is the most powerful I have experienced, which is strange as I'm not a dyed in the wool believer, or a Catholic.

Placing some at your job helps a lot, especially if there is negativity within coworkers.
I placed some around the yard if my son’s new home, to protect from evil spirits and people.

I gave blessed salt to a woman who was going through a very difficult time and whose husband was practicing witchcraft. She sprinkled it around her bedroom. Two nights later, her husband lit a candle at midnight in a satanic ritual and the house burned down. She miraculously woke up and survived.

Thanks for the video. I have used blessed salt for work meetings and conversations that might be challenging by placing on my tongue right before and say a St. Michael prayer.

It depends on what the priest says in the blessing. Many priests just say Blessed in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost & make Sign of Cross. Traditional priests will put an exorcism blessing in salt & a St. Benedict medal. He will specifically mention warding off Satan. If he does not, that protection is not there. Palm & Olive branches on Palm Sunday have God's Mercy descend upon them, made a figure of The Church to go forth in good works, triumph, prepare way of Faith & Justice, remove scandal. Olive branches are given power of spiritual unction & Peace.
There is a book of specific, different blessings & power given to candles, rosaries, statues. That is where the accusation of magic comes in. Well, magic is not asking God's Will, leaving God out, invoking materialism, ego, even demons. Catholic is Jesus Christ's power.

Coming from a secular background I hope my kids aren’t “salty” lol😅 I just recently had I guess a deeper conversion at the beginning of this year, still navigating everything(not gonna bother you with my whole life story lol) but I still think things in my secular ways from time to time and I couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit at kids being “salty” because secularly we always attributed being “salty” to like being like angry or bitter over something. I have to like train my brain still.

Thank you for the video. It is the first time I hear about blessed salt. I feel a bit self-conscious about asking the local priest to bless it. Can he refuse to bless it? Is a priest obligated to bless the religious items that we take to him for a blessing? Would you know where it says on writing (in the Cathechism, for example) about the blessing of religious items? Sorry for the questions but I don't know any priest well enough and I fear a reprimand on his part. Many thanks.

I have a question for whomever can answer: my husband and I are in the process of converting and are studying the catechism, etc… we bought rosaries and I know you’re supposed to get them blessed but he says “we aren’t catholic yet so I doubt they will. And they probably wont let us have holy water.” Does anyone know what they will and won’t allow us to… participate… in?

I’m not sure about that. I mean what salt is 100% pure that comes from the ocean or anywhere else for that matter? We had blessed table salt in the house growing up and it was just regular store brand stuff.

How is this different or better than just praying over your house, car, kids room etc? Im genuinely asking to understand. The power lies with God so I dont understand how the physical salt has any effect. Thanks if you can answer.

Today I had a new rosary blessed by a priest, and it was such a beautiful blessing, and his words were so wonderfully said that I started to cry right in front of him, but I tend to cry in church too, especially in the presence of a priest
    I wish I thought of bringing salt….
My church has holy water bottles where the holy water fountain is, and I think it’s so nice that they give these beautiful Holy Water bottles free to the parishioners when they need Holy Water
When Pope John Paul passed I bought a rosary from the Vatican that he blessed, so this upsets me all these years I thought I had a blessed rosary from my favorite Pope 🥲
