I was lucky to this twice with Maria Friedman and Ruthie Henshall both fantastic
i saw this in london when it opened. i dont know why people didnt like it, I LOVED IT and everyone involved was just awesome.
bought the CD last year, lovely music, and intrigued with the story, wish I had seen it live; would be good if it was revived

This is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best scores. It sucks that I will never get the chance to see it on stage... :(
I’ve recently been listening to it again after several years away, and it holds up better than ever. I think it’s even better than Phantom, and at least as good as Evita. David Zippel’s brisk, witty lyrics and clever rhymes are a huge asset.

Oh, thank you very much! The WiW itself looks so... ghostly! And finally I've managed to see Michael Ball and The Seduction scene - thanks to you! But I don't see - whom has he kissed here - 00:36 ? And they definitely MUST release a DVD of this - here I agree with @phillieboy and many-many others. Thank you once again!
This makes it look much more interesting than the "official" one that only shows bits of songs. :^) I would LOVE to have seen this when it was playing. At least the CD is excellent. :^)

I just adore how you see through the recording and the video showing Maria singing All for Laura how much more confident, fierce and jaw droppingly awesome her performance of the song became as it switched. Guh. Circumstances understandable, I still think the show could have lasted a hiatus without Maria if they didn't blow the ending and change it like they did. Can you imagine what that would have been like? Sweet.

I believe that Maria Friedman had to have treatment for a form of cancer, and I'm not sure if the viral infection in the Count Fosco fat suit affected the OLC aswell...
Judy Kuhn would have been an amazing Marian too (she was going to replace her for a few months). The ending was only a small problem -- the overall show went from great and steady to rushed and choppy-ish. They tried way too hard to shorten it IMO.
I think it was the day before the premiere and she found out that she had breast cancer. Michael Crawford, who originated the role of Count Fosco in the OLC, came down with a condition called "viral colitis", caused by wearing the fat suit so often.
