    Would you recommend that NC 750 X for someone that wants to ride from Florida keys to Dead Horse AK???

    • @dirtymotorcyclevagabond
      @dirtymotorcyclevagabond  Год назад

      Definitely possible. Depends on your riding style/ how fast you wanna do it lol. The NC is good for getting off-road because its super light. Long stretches on the highway not so much. A lot of guys seem to like the Super Tenere for long trips like that

    • @dwightsmith4641
      @dwightsmith4641 Год назад +1

      Done that trip twice. Allow a month so you don’t have to rush too much. Just about any bike will do it, because Ed March proved it. Bigger the gas tank the better. Shaft drive is nice because chains and sprockets don’t like mud, sand, and calcium chloride (Dalton Hwy) all that much. You might want some Bear Spray. Try not to overpack because Dawson City, White Horse, and Fairbanks are sizable enough for acquiring most things. The University in Fairbanks rents out the dorm rooms in the Summer. Good place to store things while you ride up to Dead Horse, stare at the Arctic for 15 minutes and ride back. Antigan Pass can be sketchy in bad weather. I took the Marine Hwy (Bellingham to Haines) in 14. Top Of The World Hwy to Dawson is fun if you arrive near or on Summer Solstice. Best of luck Raymond Wright.

    • @raymondwright2985
      @raymondwright2985 Год назад

      @@dwightsmith4641 I've been watching a lot of RUclips posts to try get the best info. I have seen vids with all types of bikes going to Dead Horse. I can't afford a bike with a drive shaft like a GS and was looking for something with good gas miles Even thought of DR650 or a KLR,. The DR seems a better choice and still has a carb rather than fuel injections, and seems easy to change the gas tank to an Acerbis tank with bigger storage. But then how comfortable will that be running on the highway to Alaska ? Thanks for the info.

    • @dwightsmith4641
      @dwightsmith4641 Год назад

      @@raymondwright2985 I did it both times on two different GS, but I was riding with someone on 2001 Yamaha WR250R once and the other time I was with a guy on 1984 Honda 500 Cx that has shaft drive. I have a 1990 Honda PC800 with shaft drive. Try to choose something you can pick up from the ground. After you come back from the Dalton reserve a full day to clean your bike while in Fairbanks. That calcium chloride is like cement. It was $230 to stay one night in Deadhorse and they don’t allow tents. I am sure the price has gone up since 2012 and 2014 when I was there. If you decide to do Denali National Park book a bus that at least goes 66 miles into the park. Personal vehicles (ie motorcycles) can only go about 15 miles in due to the wildlife. All my best Raymond.
