Love this song. This song reminds me of a man that briefly passed by, 4 times in my presence 2 years ago. He came to my church wearing a blue suit. On the 4th time I jumped out of the way so he couldn't see me, I was shy and so was he. I guess he took that as rejection, but it was not. I was still freshly grieving my husband who passed away the year before. He never came back anymore and I wonder if I had introduced myself if our lives could have been great together. I guess it is too late and I need to except that he will never come back. I was shocked to see the gentleman on the keyboard in this song looks like him minus the goatee, I have seen closeups of him on other videos too and I just can't believe how much he looks like him. Guess everyone has a look alike somewhere.

I lost mine New Years Eve 2000 for 2001. A WW2 veteran whose life was destroyed as a Medic in the Pacific. Finally, at peace. I'm so glad you missed 9 / 11, dad, that would have sent you over the edge.

Beautiful song and voice.
Not this song specifically but music helped me through a dark time in my life. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2013 and gospel helped me through tremendously especially with depression. It wasn't a magic wand but it was definitely a big help and I still to it today.
Whether secular or gospel, it's the words that eases our minds and brings us peace even in those dark times in our lives.
I have much respect for songwriters and singers. Their words and voices are gifts to the rest of us.

A dozen years ago, I made an album called, “Days In Avalon.” It was the first album I’d made in three years; it was the first album I ever made on my own, independently, without a label; and most profoundly, it was the first album I ever made that my father didn’t hear.
My dad died in 1997 as the result of an automobile accident. He was 73, but a very young and vibrant 73. He was the most gifted musician I’ve ever known. He was the single greatest father I have ever encountered, and I know quite a few men I consider to be great ones.
And he was my best friend.
The loss of him in my life still plagues me. It’s not the same as it was the first couple of years, although some days, even now and out of nowhere, the hurt is just as bad. I finally came to the realization a few years back that I will never really get over it. But the good news is that I still feel my dad around me…with me…and my memories of him are as beautiful and powerful as was our relationship.
I wrote a song about that not long ago called, “Through My Veins.” But the first song I wrote about my dad after his passing was this one from “Days In Avalon.” For reasons still unrevealed to my own psyche, it’s a country song. I had the great honor of having one of the most exquisitely gorgeous voices on earth, Alison Krauss, sing background vocals on it with me.
I wanted to posted it again today, for my dad, Straight From My Heart.
