    Edwin “Win” Butler III is the lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for Canadian band Arcade Fire. Known for their symphonic pop-dance-rock-noise arrangements, surrealist music arena performances and a savvy approach to the music industry, Arcade Fire have received several Juno and Brit awards.
    In his 2016 Red Bull Music Academy lecture, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler talked about his roots, the band's discography, New Orleans and David Bowie.

    I loved The Suburbs record but being someone who lives just south of The Woodlands I find his description here not very flattering. True, it's suburbia, all major cities have it...but The Woodlands is pretty nice as far as suburbs go. He railed on Mitchell (the developer) for his fracking, but The Woodlands is actually a very eco-friendly design which is amazing considering it's origin in the 70's. They basically took a forest and only gutted enough trees to put down the roads, houses, businesses etc. All the stores are buried behind a tall tree line so you feel like you are in the country driving around. No commercial signage is allowed over 3 feet high. It's very pretty and aesthetically appealing for a major metro suburb. If you had to live in Houston, it's a great spot to be. Lot's of wooded trails and not many ugly big box stores and home rooftops dotting the horizon. Compared to the usual suburb where they waste all the trees and throw up concrete and ugly houses, The Woodlands seems like a great place for a kid. Of course everyone likes to bag on their home town as being horrible...but seriously, come on Win. Could've been much worse. Hey Mitchell may have been a big oil fracker, but he saved most of the trees. Win's dad worked for Haliburton (ewwwwwwwww) yet he made Win. It's not all bad haha.

    • @craigk579
      @craigk579 7 лет назад +4

      HA ... I was wondering the same thing. Thinkin Win mighta been yankin our chains as a matter of 'deflecting' from the oft asked question. I know they've been bugged, relentlessly, about their next album. I suspect he was prolly sick of the question.
      Arcade Fire strikes me as a band that doesn't, specifically, work on a set time table until they're ready & satisfied, albeit it seems like they've been on a 3 year time clock between releases. Maybe, why they keep getting pressed ... they're 'overdue'?
      Anyway, I can't wait for the next one. I'd rather wait and get what they truly want out there (by their standards) rather than just rush into something that will, possibly, be crap cuz they caved into some sorta timeline pressure, if that makes any sense.

    the isolation part in estudios is so true you can tell just within the first seconds of a song and it sounds so sterile... most pop music nowadays is like that and that's why artists like mac demarco stand out (besides his talent obviously) he masters the acoustics of a music the feeling of waves bouncing back and forth...

    I swear something was like keeping ur music from me. I never heard it until this year in March. And if I knew anything about anything when we were together I obviously would not have ever left. But that chick that was outside calling u tim when i went to see if ur car was still there before opening any doors I shouldnt , and since u said someone was coming with ur brother , and already I was being blamed for why u hadn't learned "the drums on piano " yet, cuz I didn't know anything else about your music yet, I thought leaving would like protect you from what was killing us.
    I didn't know anything. All I knew was I love u instantly, and that I only felt safe with you. I would go anywhere to be with you but since you called me the cab, I've been stuck in hell ever since. I didn't know it was with me in the cab, it just got way too hot and I couldn't breathe again so I got out and walked home , I guess thats how hell came with me. I couldn't ever connect any info of what I was guessing it seemed like and the shit I learned since then. THERE WAS AND IS NO OTHER HIT*(THE BITCH SAYING ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT IT IS WHO I WOULD NEVER AND CANT EVER TRUST AGAIN)* clearly we were spied upon and I don't believe u would just listen to bullshit like that , but it hasn't stopped this whole time, back to two years before we even met.
    I just want us to be together again like we were. I didn't know u didn't know that I really didn't know anything. I just started watching ur live shows I can't watch too much it hurts to see how hurt u were. Everything I heard that u seem to think I choose over you is a huge misunderstanding. I had bad people, untrustworthy people surrounding me.
    Everyone would rather throw me out in the street to be raped and murdered because they think a diamond or money will appear. Fucking idiots right?
    Was I supposed to not hear it for another year?! Please tell me thats not the case. If it was true love is the only excuse that makes this acceptable but only when u get us out of here

    Watching this in 2023 and 2 more amazing albums later...its crazy how much shit he says that is almost like unconscious clues and hints about these 2 records...infinite content (song on everything now)...regine on the keytar which she plays on a few songs and plays live now (started with songs like creature comfort and now onto age of anxiety) and his feelings about a lot of todays society and how shit is today all pours into WE and pretty much the whole album in its entirety and is his way of showing his distaste and emotions about feeling a sense of being almost lost and wanting to be found but not by todays standards if that makes sense...but the worst is knowing poor win had so much hope and believed we could do better...sigh..if he only knew Trump was coming
