The Cougar looked hungry and underweight. It's sick and maybe even rabid so hopefully fish and wildlife find it as soon as possible.
I was working on a house in the CA foothills. We saw cougar tracks around the portapotty one morning. I showed the homeowner. They built a 10’ chain link fence around the back yard.

No small this is a younger cougar, mature ones are nocturnal this one is out in broad day light and can still see it's cub spots in fur likely orphaned or somehow lost it's mom.

Omg they live near a conservation area?😂, maybe do your research before you move to a place. And definitely get taller fences or electrical. Around here it's frowned upon to let your cats go outside, they can be picked up by coyotes, or worse fall victim to messed up humans. Leave your kitty cats indoors, and don't leave your dogs out unattended.
