For all the talk about the influence of Big Star on Bandwagonesque, this song is the exception. It's more like a poppier MBV/Dinosaur Jr., with an ace tune underpinning it courtesy of Gerard Love. The first of a long string of great albums from TFC.
YES! My Girlfriend Laci and I used to put this tape on when we went to bed.. Everynight I slept over her house in Elkins Park, we had this tape on all night. What a fabulous time in my life! Ah to be 19 again!!!!
I remember first time hearing the song , I was just hypnotized. 30 yrs later big fan of Classical music and with successful medical career, that song still move me tremendously. Music is interesting thing .
i bought the cassette in 1992 not knowing what to expect. an exciting era when media such as YT was not available yet to hear samples and can only listen to songs until you buy it.
I remember years ago going to a concert for another band and someone was wearing a shirt that said "Teenage Fucking Fanclub". Yeah, Teenage Fucking Fanclub.
Takes me back to my garage band days in the mid 1970's! God...its a bitch being 60 years old today! So many great times. The mind is willing , but the body...um...not so much!
i just saw these guys open up to superchunk last night in seattle. i remember buying this tape in college. i'm happy to say, they sound better than ever!
Still love this song. I always felt the album version of this track should have been the first track. The long intro and the kick into the groove sums up what I love about these guys. Tops!
The best year for music since 1967! The music was introspective, yet colourful. Shoegaze made it all come together in some sort of glorious mush. My band made a video that year that is on RUclips. We mostly ended up heading to university as it was difficult to make a go of it in Canada. Check out “ One Chance” by Garden Traffic.
I turned on a girl to this band back in 91 or 92. I let her borrow my cassette tape. She returned it and said she really liked this band. 30 years later I wonder where she is. I really liked her but I was a introverted wallflower back then. Listening to this reminds me think of her. Melody....where ever you are....I hope life has treated you well....also Shannon says hi:)
Some say Pavement was the best band of the 90's... I think that's a bit too much to say about Pavement, but for Teenage Fanclub... I would say they are the best of the 90's any day.
leonardokula I mean pavements pretty fucking good. I love Teenage Fanclub too. Not to sound like a normie, but Nirvana or Radiohead is probably the best band of the 90s
Nobody can touch that trilogy: "Bandwagonesque", "Grand Prix" and "Songs from Northern Britain" (one the synonymes of the word "beauty" is this album). Those albums are pinacles on how to write SONGS full of heart, intensity and sensibility, long live TF!!!
Brasil, anos 90, Madame Satã (80*s já consolidada), Armagedom, Front 575 em Santo André, Tênis Clube, 1o de Maio ainda antes, Sarajevo, Cais, Massivo, Napalm, Retrô....e por aí vai!

Power-Pop bliss! Right before grunge hit hard, around 1990-1991 some of the best alternative music ever - aka Teenage Fan Club!
For all the talk about the influence of Big Star on Bandwagonesque, this song is the exception. It's more like a poppier MBV/Dinosaur Jr., with an ace tune underpinning it courtesy of Gerard Love. The first of a long string of great albums from TFC.
Perhaps the greatest pop song of all time. Can't get enough of this one. Over many years, it still does it for me, deeply.
Imagine these guys and Material Issue playing at the same gig.
There was something in the water in 1991. It was one of those magical years for music that will never be heard again.
Absolutely agree!
What was it? It is simply amazing.
That's for sure.:)
Actually, 1991 was when ppl who found themselves ignored in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990 realised they could make albums for themselves.
Thats a fact...
Whenever I need to feel in my 20's again I pop this in. Magic
It works for me, too.
Couldn't agree more! Great song.
it always works, my friend
😜😅😀 THE SAME HERE!!!!!
YES! My Girlfriend Laci and I used to put this tape on when we went to bed.. Everynight I slept over her house in Elkins Park, we had this tape on all night. What a fabulous time in my life! Ah to be 19 again!!!!
Superchunk AND Teenage Fanclub on the same bill? Heaven!
I saw them play with The Afghan Whigs back then. Good times!
Got into a bad car wreck while this was blasting on the tape deck in my dad's Subaru Legacy station wagon. Not the songs fault. Still love it.
I bet that Subaru took that hit like a champ
Wow, that could've been so much worse...nvm.
You were Rockin out too hard, admit it

Make music great again 🔥💕
Mine too, it's still in my playlist!
This song is a trip back to the 90's... what a great rock'n roll scene we lived back there!
This band manages to make guitar tracks sound like backing vocals
The bass tone and playing are simply killer. I have to dig though my cds and find this one and play it for old time's sake. Great band.
Can't beat that classic Fender Jaguar tone!
i bought the cassette in 1992 not knowing what to expect. an exciting era when media such as YT was not available yet to hear samples and can only listen to songs until you buy it.
"Maybe in time these things will change." Such hope! Thank you.

hellz_yes
Why were they wearing that shirt to the concert if it was a different band playing lol
^ u haven't been to many shows, have you? :P
@@duckyyyaj247ahh clearly you aren’t from the 90s where 70% of the audience wore the standard-issue TOOL or NIN Tshirt regardless of who was playing 😅

Uma das melhores, depois de The concept
Best Band of the World.
+Daniel Lemes Verdade !!!! Tempo do "labo b" e Head Like A Hole do Nine Inch Nails
madrugadas da mtv... bons tempos
Reverendo Fabio Massari
I always felt this sounded like a MBV tune somehow. Yeah, Bandwagonesque, pure magic.
seifukusha yeah I agree
Same era so not surprising.
Pop magic. TF and MBV.
Bands like Jesus and Mary Chain, Dinosaur Jr., MBV etc. actually have the same pop roots as Teenage Fanclub. They just added more noises.
And that roots can be founded in some Japanese indie alternative bands too

Why was the music so good the summer of 1992?
Pure bliss! Forever in my heart!
Amazing! I got this album the week it came out and it's still one of my very favorite records.
Wow 🔥
Gerald Love writes songs that lift my spirit.
Quintessential TFC song. This is the one that sums up their sound. Amazing band. There will never be another.
What a great comments! I just love every inch of this awesome band!
About A Son turned me on to this :) Kurt made so many bands visible that I might never have heard!
Such a good song!! I love that the lead singer looks like Tommy Wiseau
Thank Big Star!
There's plenty of Big Star worship on Bandwagonesque, but this song sounds more like something off of MBV's Ecstasy EP

More power pop than shoegaze.

Pavement, one of the most over hyped bands of my lifetime.
Pavement is boring
Pavement was terrible live. My favorite live band during the 90s was Uncle Tupelo.
I was a huge fan of both..plus pixies
Aw, love this song. The memories...
Amazing song! Bandwagonesque really was Big Star 4th! 🖤
Cosmic song !
little shoey little gazey
This?
