Mepps banned me from DCUO forums, DCUO Twitch, DCUOFacebook page each time for asking questions. Not strange or unusual questions. Not inappropriate questions. Questions about the game. Also over commenting they should add Dakotaverse characters. Spytle fussed at me for asking about modern styles, tactical styles back in 2011. No BS. All my suggestions were added eventually over the next 12yrs. All my messages deleted by DCUO.
With dcuo having no majorly good updates within the last several years, and no plans to do so I can see why anyone would’ve quit by now. Besides, those guys have kids now I’m sure

Flexing my Beta Player back piece from the Way Back days of the "Bunch Of Noobs" league was one of my favorite ways to troll actual noobs to the game nearly a decade after launch... What the hell happened to this game!? PS. I had originally quit because of a piece of s**t named GloBoy OP who had hacked my profile and stolen it. I got it back, but...WTH, ya know? Hundreds (if not thousands, never kept receipts) of dollars sunk into a game gone just like that. All Skill points earned, All auras and swag gear, End-level gear, elite status. GONE. And by the way...I know who GloBoy is. I have his name and address if anyone he's hacked in the past wants to report him properly.

I was thinking about that too but if they stop making time capsules and start focusing solely on gameplay, where is the time capsule money gonna come from? I bet they have enough money to make both time capsules and gameplay features but they’re cheap. I don’t think Daybreak fixes games, it’s too much of a risk to buy a game and try to fix it, I think they just monetize it for the already existing player base.
Sorry to announce it to you but the only reason the game could "Come back" is either with a totally new version and a lot of money invested in advertisement. Such games don't come back without a push.

I had a bad feeling about this year starting New Years Eve. It took me two weeks later to decide to renew the membership. The game is becoming lame. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will finally improve this year and if not I’m done with it.

Given the track record of how quickly job positions are being filled at DI (if they are being filled at all) and any visible results, DCUO really is near the end now. We also don't know who else is laid off and who is left at DI at this point. (There's also the expectation of further layoffs widely within the game industry to come) My prediction: DCUO's getting sunsetted sooner than people think.
it doesnt matter if mepps is gone or not if the game isnt getting the funding it will continue to go nowhere. If anything this is a bad sign that the game isnt going anywhere if someone decides to leave something they basically help build. They should have never left soe that was the golden days.

Honestly, despite some being happy, that Mepps is gone. I Can't name anyone else who interacts with the community from dcuo staff that is still employed. Whether that be for the base community or the style community or even random events (REG) Such as Extralife. Hopefully whoever fills that spot will be able to do all of those things and more.

No one at all in the dcuo community knows whether or not he carried our cries, suggestions and feedback over to the senior dev team. All we know is that we never have had any response towards the outcries. Realistically whether Mepps is gone or not the game will be exactly the same, if those with the power to make change choose not too. I perfect example of this would be destiny 2. Knowledgeable - I'm heavily invested in the game, my clan has over 100+ clear, Day ones, week ones clears on every raid. the former community manager "dmg" probably was the best community manager I've ever witness in ANY mmorpg like game. Always interactive, playing with community and listening to feedback. Even giving his own opinions on how things should be. Though rarely did the community ever see any of that feedback pushed into a hotfix or update. I mean sure there was some QOL changes like any game but thats it.

I started dcuo in 2013 and it honestly was a great game back in the day... i feel like as soon as they got rid of equipment mods and started clamping raids is when it went down hill. Yea i guess if you weren't kept up with the top tiers, leveling was harder but it separated the bad and good. It just became too easy imo.

This question occurred to me a little bit ago: I noticed DI had a lot of trouble filling vacancies for a long time, and do you think it might have been because really qualified people decided they could do better than work with Mepps?
I think it was more that new grads or experienced designers weren't looking for a game on an outdated engine and legacy code from 2010. I would also wager that DI/Daybreak pay pretty low compared to the industry being owned by an investment corporation like EG7
I know Mepps was somewhat of a divisive figure among the playerbase, but he will be missed. Since the game came out he has been the face and voice of the dev team. Losing him is pretty huge. I still miss watching him and Oceans doing their Dev Invasion live streams. Man, they were so much fun to watch and take part in! Over the years I've watched so many live streams with the devs that whenever a developer leaves the team, it almost feels like a RUclipsr leaving one of your favorite channels or something. It kinda sucks. In that analogy, Mepps was always the host. Losing him feels significant. It feels like the end of an era, and makes me a little concerned about the future of the game now, to be honest! They were already struggling to replace all the devs that left. Now Mepps has gone too? Damn.....

The heroes pvp hasnt changed after all those years they could've added new characters and made pvp more worth ranging over. Now it's like, what's the point of doing that at all. Just to get some feats and collect old ass characters. So they completely neglected that part of the game.
You do know that a DCUO 2 would probably suck balls right? The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Just ask Cities Skylines fans how well the sequel for that game is doing. (not good) A 'DCUO 2' would probably be a buggy mess, absolutely devoid of content (compared to DCUO 1) for at least a few years, and would probably be a micro-transaction hellscape (even more so than the current game is), full of Battle Passes and Season Passes, and over priced skins and cosmetics and shit. It probably wouldn't even be an MMO in the typical sense either, because MMOs aren't the 'hot thing' in gaming anymore. It could very well end up being yet another failure of a shitty live service game like Anthem, or The Avengers, or Gotham Knights, or Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League..... Is that what you want? I don't.

@@xAK47 Honestly I think a lot of people don't realize a community manager in most game studios are basically a messenger. No one at all in the dcuo community knows whether or not he carried our cries, suggestions and feedback over to the senior dev team. All we know is that we never have had any response towards the outcries. Realistically whether Mepps is gone or not the game will be exactly the same, if those with the power to make change choose not too.
I perfect example of this would be destiny 2.
Knowledgeable - I'm heavily invested in the game, my clan has over 100+ clear, Day ones, week ones clears on every raid.
the former community manager "dmg" probably was the best community manager I've ever witness in ANY mmorpg like game. Always interactive, playing with community and listening to feedback. Even giving his own opinions on how things should be. Though rarely did the community ever see any of that feedback pushed into a hotfix or update. I mean sure there was some QOL changes like any game but thats it.
I'm glad mepps is gone he was absolutely worthless.

Damn, was it DCUO or some other site I went to...Someone left the company and it was their job to pay the internet name fee. No one realized this duty wasn't passed to someone else so it expired. Game/site was down for a few days.@@GuiltyCons

I started dcuo in 2013 and it honestly was a great game back in the day... i feel like as soon as they got rid of equipment mods and started clamping raids is when it went down hill. Yea i guess if you weren't kept up with the top tiers, leveling was harder but it separated the bad and good. It just became too easy imo.

Even though I didn’t think Mepps did the best job at CM I still secretly liked him lol. The couple time I worked with him on things he was always a good guy to me despite our differing opinions on the game. Hopefully DC gets a good CM to replace him.

Meh, Mepps might’ve been helpful at times but he was still a problem. If anyone would go on the forums and state a problem that Dc Universe Online had, he would ban them.

This question occurred to me a little bit ago: I noticed DI had a lot of trouble filling vacancies for a long time, and do you think it might have been because really qualified people decided they could do better than work with Mepps?
I think it was more that new grads or experienced designers weren't looking for a game on an outdated engine and legacy code from 2010. I would also wager that DI/Daybreak pay pretty low compared to the industry being owned by an investment corporation like EG7
I know Mepps was somewhat of a divisive figure among the playerbase, but he will be missed. Since the game came out he has been the face and voice of the dev team. Losing him is pretty huge.
I still miss watching him and Oceans doing their Dev Invasion live streams. Man, they were so much fun to watch and take part in! Over the years I've watched so many live streams with the devs that whenever a developer leaves the team, it almost feels like a RUclipsr leaving one of your favorite channels or something. It kinda sucks. In that analogy, Mepps was always the host. Losing him feels significant.
It feels like the end of an era, and makes me a little concerned about the future of the game now, to be honest! They were already struggling to replace all the devs that left. Now Mepps has gone too? Damn.....

Great news for DC. Hopefully they take this opportunity to rebuild and not let it die completely. Worst community manager in any game ive played.
The heroes pvp hasnt changed after all those years they could've added new characters and made pvp more worth ranging over. Now it's like, what's the point of doing that at all. Just to get some feats and collect old ass characters. So they completely neglected that part of the game.

You do know that a DCUO 2 would probably suck balls right? The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Just ask Cities Skylines fans how well the sequel for that game is doing. (not good)
A 'DCUO 2' would probably be a buggy mess, absolutely devoid of content (compared to DCUO 1) for at least a few years, and would probably be a micro-transaction hellscape (even more so than the current game is), full of Battle Passes and Season Passes, and over priced skins and cosmetics and shit.
It probably wouldn't even be an MMO in the typical sense either, because MMOs aren't the 'hot thing' in gaming anymore. It could very well end up being yet another failure of a shitty live service game like Anthem, or The Avengers, or Gotham Knights, or Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League.....
