Closed Guard Attacks from Clamp, Kimura, Wrist Lock, Armbar, Triangle and Omoplata

  • This is a detailed video on the Clamp, a great position within the Closed Guard. We get to the Clamp when we manage to isolate at least one of opponent's arms to the floor. Usually this is done with a knee pull and some sort of arm pummel. Once their hand is on the floor, we need to create an advantageous angle. Very often people will over hook the isolated arm too. This is a great move, as it keeps your opponent in the position, not allowing him to get away. I, personally, prefer to cover the arm with mine and leave my arm free, rather than trap it by over hooking it. I need to move quick, though, and clamp down with my top knee on his shoulder as soon as possible. His arm is then available to launch attacks on.
