I loved this video! I am Ecuadorian from Quito and know all those places. It's time to go back and retire there at home after 43 years in a foreign country.
I am so glad I found you because my husband gets even more excited about living in Ecuador since he is not from there.
I’m also from Quito. We are planning on moving down there next year. It’s been 44 years for me. 😮
Appreciate Amelia and JP 100% ! thanks for the Travel views and News .
It snowed in Ohio already today , only 5 more months of winter and cold . Dreaming of Ecuador !
Oh no! Snow already?! We don't miss that!
LOL!
As always, WONDERFUL to see you two having so much fun! One more thing to love about Ecuador! Thank you for the video and for sharing!
Thank you for bringing back loving memories. I was up there in October 2017.
I have left a piece of my heart in Quito, forever.
Thanks for suffering through the high altitude change. I think this video is the best you've done! You always do a great job of providing information, but this was one of the first that just shows you having a great time and shows the beauty more than most others. Keep it up!
You guys are awesome, your Spanish gets only better and better and ur vlogs are sooo entertaining. Glad u enjoyed my city! My bf loves u too 🥰.
Muchas gracias! Estamos aprendiendo español, pero muy lentamente!
@@AmeliaAndJP Poco a poco, así es!
My daughter and I took the TelefériQo the day before you posted this and I just loved the swings (columpio en las nubes)! Thanks for preparing me for Ecuador with your previous videos. Also thanks for sharing this beautiful footage and summary of the TelefériQo -- es perfecto!
Loved this video. Cannot wait to see more of Quito. Loved the views from the TelfericQo and from Cruz Loma on Volcano Pichincha!
We have several more videos to edit!
I love when you guys go on the road. This is your best work. I love how you'll are getting the Spanish down. I don't eat a plant-based diet, but that restaurant and the recipes there sure look appetizing.
Mi hermosa ciudad, mi bello país. Quiero abrazar pronto a mi gente. I love this.
Thank you so much Amelia y JP.
You guys are always happy, upbeat. Love the scarf too!
Thank you so much for taking the time making these videos of my country Ecuador!!
Specially this one of Quito, the land where I was born and raised!! Yeah!!!
There is more than 40 years been away and live in another continent far far away!!!
My city has changed for the better!!!
Yes! I appreciate your sacrifice! I hope you are rewarded for your good efforts!
Thank you guys for showing my beautiful city to the world. The Teleferico is a point you shouldn't lose when coming to Quito.
Loved the video! I was in Quito in 2019, and I'm so glad we made the trip when we did before the pandemic. We (my mother, my sister, and I) didn't take the teleferico up to the higher elevation, which was a mistake. I've been waiting for your Quito videos! So glad to see this first one!
We were so happy to finally film in Quito! We have several more videos coming!
Po
Thank you for the extra effort in making this video. Those mountains were terrific. What a beautiful view. The meal looked awesome too. Great stuff.
wish i were there now except for this pandemic. I live it through you both. I love the way you share your life.
Thank you so much for your videos. I met you a couple of times in Olon and I was happy we were able to say hi to both of you. See you again and thank you again for the wonderful information and great heads up on life in Ecuador!!! 🙏😊😘💜
i just came from Quito in September 2021. Amelia you did have the best desert.! Egos are Ecuadorian Jewish side. we love Ego'SSSSSSSS
Hello guys. Once again, you've surpassed my expectations with your videos. Love you guys and I'm excited to see your next video. It's chevere to hear you practice your Spanish. Suerte y los quiero.
Very nice. My husband and I can wait until we visit so keep posting great stuff.😍😍
Loved this video!! Thank you! I miss Ecuador. Just returned from a visit last month.
What a great Ecuadorian experience meeting locals with traditional cuisine.
Great video! Gracias. Lunch looked delicious, broadening your food adventures.
I was mesmerized how incredible the change of vegetation while you were going up on the lift, great video
You guys are great! I love watching your videos and would love to move to Ecuador! I feel like we would be really good friends if I were able to live there! Keep up the great work you’re doing 😊
Thank you guys to share these awesome videos from my beautiful country! 😀
Glad you like them!
Love the videos!! We haven't been back for a few years because of the covid so it sure is nice to see how thing look now!!! thank you!!
I am glad you finally visited my beautiful Quito, thank you!
"Mate de coca" is a beverage tipic from Argentina. In Quito you to keep you warm you drink Canelazo.
You are the best lovely couple , who makes us discovering the land !!!
I share your videos to all my Canadians friends.
Cuando empecé a ver el vídeo en el teleférico pensé inmediatamente en la espalda de JP.
Me gusta ver que siempre muestran cosas alternativas.
Gracias.
Gracias! 😊
Gracias amigos por ésa energía positiva. Saludos.
Gracias!
Well done amigos!! Chéveres videos!
Thank you again for sharing your experiences around Ecuador. I so look forward to your videos!!
Glad you like them!
Hey my friends so good to see you looking so well. I love that you went to Quito it’s one of my favorite cities. What a lovely restaurant thank you for sharing it and her book. Igos are one of my favorite desserts they are amazing! All the best to you.
Love your vids and your “unconventional” wisdom. I have visited Ecuador a number of times but have only flown
Into Quito and then headed straight to Shell and into the jungle. Your vids of the ensues west are so instructive and interesting. I, too, am from Colorado and I am looking at the possibility of relocating to a western region of Ecuador, so continue your unconventionality and maybe we will see each other on the street somewhere… excellent work and thank you!
Gracias!
Great segment on the incredible food. !! You guys make smile amd even LOL often. Love my time with you. - - -
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice video! I love hearing about new places.
Wow, first to comment. That's a beautiful area (from what I can tell looking at your videos ;-)
It sure is!
Gracias por este hermoso video !! Dios les bendiga siempre ❤🙏 saludos desde Minneapolis Minnesota ❤
The music at the "amusement" park section is so beautiful! I haven't gotten to the end, but I hope you named it, because I don't see it mentioned in the description!
I might have to play this episode over and over-- just to hear that music again! Me gusta mucho!
I remember the TeleferiQo and the stunning views from the top. I also remember it being very windy! I love mote! I think it is better than our hominy in the states. The almuerzo...that was a LOT of food! How did you eat all of that? Wow! Thanks for sharing.
I’d been wanting to see Quito! We (from Greeley) took some California friends up to Pikes Peak and because they didn’t stay hydrated enough they got very sick! Maybe your Colorado roots got you through the teleferico experience! Great video!
Great video! I bet you were feeling that altitude. I live in Colorado and when I went up to Pikes Peak (via the narrow gage) I wanted to take a nap in the gift shop. I was so tired. Ecuador is such an impressive place. My daughters are vegan, so if they go to Quito again, I think they will certainly go to that restaurant. It looked delicious. Thank you!
I felt the same way at Pikes Peak! Highly recommend La Cuchara Orgánica 😋👍🇪🇨
La Cuchara Orgánica looks amazing! Hoping we can get there for lunch next Monday as we are in Quito for the day between our time in Manta and Cuenca. Would love a copy of the cookbook as well. Thanks for sharing this.
Here in NJ is cold right now
Watching this video transport me to my bello ecuador
Thank you! 💕
Omg higos 💕💕 mis favoritos
Love your videos and your positive vibe. Keep on doing what you are doing.
Lovely place filled with beautiful people!! Will visit one day!!
Back when the Airport was in Quito, from the Teleferico lookout point you would be able to look DOWN at arriving airplanes! It was so COOL!
I knew JP was going to get hammered, when you said that you'd started the day at sea level. I once did a drive from Monterey, CA (sea level) to Denver in 2 days. The day after I arrived in Denver, I went camping on one of the many 14,000 foot mountains around Denver.
Shortly after arriving at the camp site, I crawled into a tent and passed out. Many hours later, I crawled out to eat and immediately returned to sleep.
I learned from that experience, so I'm planning on acclimating 90 days in the Colombian mountains and another 90 days in the Ecuadorian mountains before going to Machu Picchu.
I'll also have to come up with a similar plan, when I go up to Rishikesh in the Indian Himalayas to do yoga for a few months.
Good plan 👍
Been looking forward to seeing a good Quito video - you delivered. Thanks for sharing.
Gracias!
Lol🤣🤣, great video and yes I appreciate your sacrifice 😁. That coca tea really works.
Thank you for the information, as I will in Quito next year.
I made the same mistake that you guys. Once a had to work between Guayas and Guaranda and i took a workdrive in one day. By the end of the day a drived from 0 metters to 4000 and back so my head almost sploted for the next three days! That was a big lession to remember. Thanks once again for your videos. Hugs from Manta.
The food looks awesome! I could eat that way all the time.
Love this video!! You guys looks so cute next to the llamas 🦙.
Thanks! They were very sweet!
Great video. I was in Quito in 2018. The teleférico was a fantastic experience. We got lucky we had a clear morning with the deepest blue sky I ever seen.
We were lucky it stopped raining long enough for us to film that video! Wish it had been a little more clear.
@@AmeliaAndJP just read there was an earthquake in Peru near border with Ecuador. Did you feel it? Hope all is ok!
Another nice video. Beautiful country!
When I went to Cuenca I had elevation illness and I was given cocoa leaves as a tea. It immediately helped me with my headache, dizziness and nausea.
beautiful cant wait to get there
I envy you, I am in Ecuador right now, I am in my hometown Quevedo, even though is boring I feel rejuvenated. All that organic orange juice.
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to my trip.
Nice video and useful information.
Very mice video! Makes me want to go back. My husband, my daughter and I, went to Ecuador for the first time in 2015. It was wonderful! We went to Pulularía geobotanical reserve and mitad del mundo. Thank you for your sacrifice! 😆Loved it!!!
Gracias! We want to go to the botanical reserve on our next trip 👍
Parque Nacional Cajas is so beautiful! You can easily spend the day there! We went fishing in Dos Chorreras (water falls) and then they cooked the fish for us, whichever way we wanted it! A group of 15 ate a delicious, trout meal for a very inexpensive price. The restaurant was beautiful and servers were the best! I highly recommend it.
We took the cable car in 2017 when we toured Peru and Ecuador. Machu Picchu and the Galapagos, Yes the change from sea level to the top is a lot.
Aww I’m glad you got to visit my city Quito!!
Y que viva Quito ! 😃 🥳
Glad you both finally made it to Quito...there is so much to see and do here in Quito. Need to visit the Mitad de Mundo. Equator line. Lots of history of Ecuador. Plus you need to visit the Central historical district. Plus the Basilica, San Francisco church, The Virgin up on the mountain overlooking Quito. The Presidential Palace and square...so much to see! Nice video...Bienvenidos a Quito! Stop by El Naranjo Pizzeria, Nayon, Ecuador..Vegan Pizza. Made with a cheese substitute Chocho, no motzerrela. Delicious 🍕🍕👍👍
Love looking at your list of places to see in Quito. I'm visiting there December 15th. Meeting a friend there.
@@matthewmiller225 glad you liked the places I wrote. Quito is a huge city. Just be aware of your surroundings at all times. Try not to use your cell phone in public. Hold tight to your backpack if using one. Vista Hermosa restaurant has beautiful veiws of the city at night time. The Quito Basilica is a beautiful self guided cathedral to see. Uber and Didi are very inexpensive way to get around town. Download their Apps. I would pay with cash. Try not to use your credit or debit cards to buy things. My information has been stolen numerous times. I now pay with cash for almost everything. Most ATM's give you a choice for English or Spanish after you enter your card. Careful at all times while using an ATM. Papallacta hot springs are wonderful also. Cotopaxi park is beautiful. Cotocachi has a huge mercado, 2 hour drive from Quito. Great for souvenirs! Enjoy your stay!
Hola me ecanta ver Los videos y conoser
Todo lo que ustedes nos enseña diferentes ciudades pueblos naturaleza, bueno en general todo . Soon you'll make videos in Spanish 4 years is a long time to learn it.Have a great bless day .
You guys are so cool! I love the way you call us "unconventionals" as that fits me to a tee! I really love your videos.
Great! 😊👍
Wow! Nice scarf! "I Dream of Amelia"!
Lookin a little woozie up there JP!
Gosh! Seeing this video reminded me of when I was there! I remember how beautiful it was in an "other-worldly" way! I remember hiking up further up on the trail. This video really brings back memories!
Great! 😊👍
I feel for you JP! I did a rookie mistake as a younger guy and went up there years ago after a night of partying, sleep deprived and dehydrated. Never dawned on me that could be a problem! LOL Nice views, but I'm sure it would have been nicer had I not felt like I was going to pass out at any moment! Live and learn :)
It is really high! I would have enjoyed it more on day 3 or 4 in Quito, I think. But it was cloudy for most of our time there so I'm glad we went when we did.
Great videos guys… espero que se encuentren bien después del terremotos que se sintió hoy 🤗
Man, I just about wiped myself out last week in Quito. Messed up my blood sugar, skrewed severely with my digestion, and all my old injuries decided to swell up. Learned a lot, but DO NOT underestimate what that altitude can do to you!
JP you look & sound fine 😵💫 … had to be that mate de coco that kept you upright 🤠 …. and Amelia were you enjoying a little mate too because you looked so happy, beautiful & vibrant 🤩 … such a wonderful day ✌🏼
I like your videos so much. They have very good content 🙌🏻
Oh my God all those memories of my city, I really miss it. The food, those higos con queso, I saw the image of the Pululahua
Beautiful vid!!
I rode on the Teleférico years ago in Quito, and was awesome.
5:40 speechless, amazing view!!! 😃😃😃😃
The views from up there are amazing! On a clearer day, you can see Cotopaxi!
We hiked up the top of that mountain (name is Cruz Loma) before the teleferiqo was built. We even did the trail to Rucu Pichincha up until the "first needle". It did take about 12 hours rouns trip. My friends and I were on first year of med school. Funny, last week I took my 8 and 5 year olds to Emerald Lake at Rocky Mountain National Park. Life repeats itself.
Happy Holidays!
I'll be in Quito on Dec 15th. Yes I'm flying in from Miami. The altitude is going to something to experience. So, I was told to take the first day to get use to it.
Gracias y saludos!
Nice video! BY happenstance I just arrived in Quito today.
Just found you and think your great. Plan on retiring in a year and a half and Ecuador seems doable and fun, thanks, =
Made same mistake a few years back lol
From NJ we landed at the old airport At Quito Norte the night before n immediately head to our family house in Tumbaco, the next morning or midday we drove to Quito n of course the first thing we did was heading to the teleférico, it was our boys first time n pretty much for us too ! When we lived in Quito there was no teleférico yet!
The 4 of us got purple lips, headache n I though it was an earthquake since all was shaking for me !!!
Our younger son got it worse n we rushed to go down but he inmediatamente felt better when he saw the kids rides at the bottom hahaha
We have visited this place a couple of times after but we just made sure we got acclimated first
We even hiked all the way up ! The horses were awesome, the clouds swing super cool !! n I had choclos con queso there !!!
Just love it
Funny how I grew up seen lamas at my parents hacienda in Cotopaxi Now I had to pay for a picture lol lol is ok
My husband also has horses at his parents place n here he had to pay as well but again is ok!!!
Thank you guys for this awesome video
I just subscribed Will be catching up
You guys are the best attraction in Quito.I hope JP is on the mend..with the altitude....
I first went up on Guagua Pichincha in 2008 and returned in 2011. The first time I went, I didn't wear a sweater or a scarf and had to improvise with one of my bro in law's long sleeve shirts! Luckily, it worked!
You guys are awesome and the great video of your first Quito visit.
Lately you have been featuring wonderful looking places that unfortunately are way too high in elevation for my wife....and to a lesser extent me. We have basically spent our entire lives at about 300 ft above sea level and when we were recently in Albuquerque, I know my wife had a couple episodes with the altitude which I think is about 6,000 ft. Would that mean being limited to Beach towns in Ecuador or are there still options inland at 6Kft or under?
Thank you and continued safe....and fun travels.
Vilcabamba is about 5200 feet, but you have to go through high elevation areas to get there. The Amazon and coastal areas are low elevation so those are better options.
I appreciate the sacrifice JP....
Once again, you guys are the exemplar for how to RUclips. Have you done a video about medical services in Ecuador? Cheers from Canada.
Beautiful!
Great video! The restaurant looks delicious. I followed the chef's youtube page.
Cuenca is my No. 1 in Andean Ecuador, but I loved Quito, too (was there in 2019)! Check out the La Floresta district and Ocho Y Medio cinema and cafe! Great place to have a fancy drink (or coffee drink). I would suggest hiking Cotopaxi, which was amazing, but if you have elevation issues, you might not like it that much (we hiked 16,000 feet above sea level).
We took the gondola trip yesterday and made 2 mistakes: Not taking warmer clothes and going late in the afternoon on a Sunday. It was packed. Totally worth it tho!
Awesome video, we are in Cuenca currently and plan to spend a few days in Quito, before we head back to the states. I’m fine with the elevation like Amelia but my hubby is more like you JP and struggles with it too…we went to Cajas and I thought he was gonna pass out on me but luckily he made it thru! I feel like we are living parallel lives! Lol …love you guys 💖💖
People should take altitudes like the Cajas very seriously especially if they are older and taking medication. JP and Amelia are younger than many potential retirees, and appear to be in good health. It is easy to make light of the problem, and say, "oh, well, take a glass of mate coca and you will be OK", but you really don't want a medical emergency on your hands. Many Americans are overweight, and this is also a factor in handling altitude. Some doctors say that likelihood of deep vein thrombosis is increased at altitude, so you might want to discuss that with a doctor.
Very beautiful views!
Very beautiful!
