    I loved playing that piece around 10 years ago. It wasn't really known by my teacher since it was a gift I received from someone else. But now, he gives it to students and all. That piece is really fun to play ! ♡

    Roussel took from his numerous travels as officer in the french Navy a sense of oriental cells and modes, and above all the curiosity for all kinds of music, with a peculiar sense of harmony, melody and counterpoint. The flute, which prolongs the human breath, is the unique instrument to build up such melodic lines. Here, the piano brings the necessary harmony and counterpoint of motives. Roussel often wrote works with a rather thick structure. This is a more simple and "natural" Roussel that we can hear here. Thanks for posting.

    Really grateful to both see and hear this! Well known to flautists and great to play precisely because they are quirky. Been going back to this one for 50 years and still love it - though my tempi are different!

    Je me projette comme si je regardais les royaumes indulgents à venir. Les luttes de cette vie et du monde derrière l'arc-en-ciel sont ici exposées !

    I think this would work very well in a version for orchestra . I'm surprised Roussel didn't make one himself . Some one ought to do this .

      I randomly just saw score and parts for an orchestration of this on IMSLP. Searching for a recording of that version here on youtube and just came across your comment 😂

    Hey! Thank you for uploading all these lesser known pieces with scores! I have been trying to find this piece. I've now watched/listened to most of your videos. :)
    Any chance you can do John Field's piano concertos? Thanks.

      Boring is the correct spelling. I hope you have something going for you. Don't worry about Roussel. These are wonderful pieces for flute and piano, popular in the flute studios.

      @Alvaro Bertrand It takes me hours and hours to work on these videos. Of course I get irritated with negativity. I do this out of love for music. Get it? If you don't like it is your problem. But no need to put down my work. Thanks to channels like mine you can listen and read along, and for free. I understand why other channels sometimes disable comments because reading every day subjective negative comments gets old fast.

      @@bartjebartmans I never criticized your work as a matter of fact. And we do appreciate it indeed! But we are all entitled to give opinions on the music and any other artistic details that go with the piece. This has nothing to do with your work. If someone does not agree with my honest opinion,all they have to do is to write a rebuttal and a healthy debate may emerge from it.

    • @bartjebartmans
      @bartjebartmans  5 лет назад +5

      What difference is your or mine opinion going to make to this music? Nothing. All the opinions I read under the videos, there are thousands and thousands and everybody knows better. Welcome to the 21st Century where everybody casts their shadow and pulls their weight when there is literally nothing to be gained. A generation of Keyboard heroes full of criticism and know it all, but little or no contents in their own abilities. Not saying you are one of those illustrious creatures, but it has to be said. I always can disable the comments under all videos. Maybe a great idea. BTW rarely, if ever, does somebody come with constructive analysis or reasoning. Measures, motifs, treatment of subjects, type of writing, orchestration with examples, etc. etc. I can count those on the fingers of one hand.
