I advise against it, Rachel. That sucker's gonna blow, burn the house down and incinerate all souls within. I'm just saying. Word to the wise. But, hey: What do I know?
Hey you. I appreciate your appreciation with regard to cats. Were it not for a cat, many times I'd've been alone. Imagine that? But sob-stories aside, the best cat treat is a hard piece of Genoa salami, cut into disks and then chopped into 1/4 inch nuggets. Can be frozen, used at leisure. I swear, it'll ruin your cat for commercial treats.
I hate to be a buzz kill but I’d be cautious about using any processed meats for my pets diet. Here’s what’s in Genoa Salami. Genoa salami typically contains pork, salt, spices, and other ingredients. The ingredients label may also include: Dextrose: A sugar that's added in small amounts Lactic acid starter culture: A culture that helps with the fermentation process Sodium nitrite: A preservative Sodium ascorbate: A form of vitamin C BHA and BHT: Preservatives that help protect the flavor Citric acid: A preservative that helps protect the flavor Flavorings: Natural or artificial flavorings Wine: A small amount of wine may be added Garlic powder: Garlic may be added for flavor
I wish i could find a recipe with no corn meal or flour or anything, one of my cats is essentially gluten intolerant, I'm sure its still better than friskies, lol, but still
Might I recommend sardines, they are natural whole fish with some really good nutrients like omega 3's for a shinier coat, they aren't processed very much at all and should be gluten free., They only thing you'll have to watch out for is the oily brands where seed oils are used.
I mentioned in the video that I would be sharing them with a friend who has a cat because I don't have one. It's been several years since I've had a feline friend. But my sister's mother-in-law and her friend from work split this batch and treated their sweet cats to them. They loved them! It felt really great to be able to pass along the love!
Given as a treat this will not cause constipation in cats. It is not meant to be used to make up a regular diet. Additionally, the cornmeal in the recipe is actually full of dietary fiber which is very important for cats as it regulates their bowel movements.
@@sustainableslowliving It is a well known fact! Cats r not made to eat that food in nature. No wonder so many animals r sick these days. And tuna is so toxic for animals and humans. Flour can be used as glue. When I was a kid we used to make flour paste to stick our kites. It acts as a glue.
Just make some rice flour by milling rice grains in your blender or use it milled rolled oats. If you only give one or two treats a day. It's no big deal
Sorry you feel that way. I made them at the request of a friend. They are well researched. I've been a long time study of nutrition for people, plants, and animals. And I've been making my way around a kitchen since I was 7. I will soon be 60. I'm okay with the recipe. It is 100% your choice whether or not you make it for your feline.
Yes this is the video i found you from. Had to rewatch and write down the recipe as ours are almost gone. Thank you!
You're so welcome. I made these for someone else's cat and had to make them another batch shortly after!
Hi. I'm going to try this using ground chicken and in my dehydrator for crispy treats. Do you think this will work?
I can't say for sure because I've never tried it. But I do think it will work.
Great Idea

The old baking pans are the best. That means they are seasoned there’s more people that have them more than you think.

Thanks so much for the words of appreciation. And the tip on salami cat treats. I'll bet it's spot on 😉
@@sustainableslowliving Hey, it's the least I could do over here, perched atop the
China cabinet, overlooking my kingdom.
Be careful giving a cat salami, because it contains garlic.
Deli meats are cancer causing (sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite) please do your research, thanks.

Thank you
Would tuna work?
Yes. Tuna works great!
@@sustainableslowlivingbe careful giving cats too much it can cause crystallization and their urinary tract.
Canned chicken has too much salt.
Even better to shred your own chicken.
do you think i can add some fish oil without the treats being a weird clumpy mess?
I would think that would be fine. You could also try making them with tuna instead of adding fish oil. I believe that would work for sure.
thank you very much
Very welcome!
I’d like to see your cat eat one.
How long are they good for
They will last a week or so in the fridge. And about 3 months in the freezer.
Looks tasty.. for my cat ofcourse.. is using canned tuna or other canned meats okay? Thanks for this recipe :)
Yes. You could use both of those if you like.
how much cornmeal do i use
Hi, she says 3rd of a cup 😊
I wish i could find a recipe with no corn meal or flour or anything, one of my cats is essentially gluten intolerant, I'm sure its still better than friskies, lol, but still
Maybe you could try just dehydrating chicken, liver, or beef strips and giving your cat that for a treat.

@@sustainableslowlivinguse gluten free oats in place of the flour.
For your cat I would try grinding up matzo. It's gluten free and available is most grocery stores ❤
Don’t use corn meal just chicken en egg is enough. I made it
Did you use raw chicken or boiled!?
I used canned chicken for this recipe. But boiled and shredded would be much healthier.
Hi can you please send recipe to me
The recipe is in the video.

too longggg
but ok
All those flour will cause constipation. Not healthy at all!

Nope crap with the flour ,🤬🤬😡😡 😮

Actually per veterinarian guidelines...flour is the preferred choice over sourdough starter.... so stfu
I guess it's "brave" that this is the first time you ever made them. But why? Sorry, thumbs down for no experience whatsoever.
