    In general, Unnie and her regular posts can provide us with:
    Motivation
    Information
    Structure
    Standard (for comparison of pron, usage of words…)
    Persistence
    Elegance (of pronouncing while smiling, showing how it is not necessarily that complicated)
    Listening (to a native speaker)
    Learning (in continuity)
    Interest (in language)
    ‘Naration’ (about Korea and a lot of other different themes)
    Grammar,
    and with 'Situational' vocabulary to avoid awkward MISSPELLINGS
    It is only up to us to make the best use of available resources.

      there are exceptions and especial conjugations, just like in english it's "thought" and not "thinked". But in korean these special cases are not as common as in English, so you won't have to memorize too many.

    Question: In the video you mentioned the relevance of whether the verb ended with a vowel or a consonant, but it was never referenced again. Is there an importance to them ending in a vowel or a consonant?

    • @joshuarivera4001
      @joshuarivera4001 4 года назад +3

      You always have to keep in mind these since they are rules to conjugate the verbs, there is a reason behind this which is the pronounciation becomes easier to say once the verb is conjugated. When you have 차다 (to sleep), it contains an ㅏ in the verb stem which pairs up with -아요 ending and becomes 차요 (I sleep) and sounds nicer than 차어요 or 차해요 and they aren’t the correct verbs endings for 차다. That’s why the vowels make the ending regardless of having a consonant in the end of the verb stem. I hope this helps a bit

    • @vintorialee2376
      @vintorialee2376 4 года назад

      Yes it’s very important because you’re would be incorrect if you conjugate it the wrong way it’s the same on how you use 는/은 depends if it ends with a vowel or consonant

Ever since I stumbled upon your videos, learning seems much less complex. Thank you so much!

  • @freohr789

    wow hearing them distinguished as bright or dark vowels will make those conjugations SO much easier to remember! One of my korean textbooks I've been trying to study from just gave me a chart of all the conjugation rules and expected me to memorize it, but knowing how to distinguish ㅏ, ㅗ, ㅓ, and ㅜ as light vs dark gives me an association to make now...
    I adore how you're giggling trying to explain them, as you're having to say "they just SOUND bright/dark!" because there's no actual way to explain _why_ they do aside from how they just FEEL that way. It gives me this image that this must be the explanation teachers always gave their young little students and so it's just embedded into all korean speakers' minds and hearts as a given truth ^o^

    I am so thankful for this video. After getting to Level 4 in a different Korean curriculum, I THOUGHT I had learned conjugations correctly. The process didn't make sense to me because when they said "if it ends in ___" I THOUGHT THEY MEANT THE LAST LETTER....NOT THE LAST VOWEL WITHIN THE LAST SYLLABLE. I was looking at the very last letter every single time, while not getting why I couldn't do it myself. I was conjugating everything that ended in a consonant as a dark vowel. I just assumed almost every word was an exception. (When really only some are) This is an epiphany for me.

    I’m also using a website to learn korean and coincidentally I just learnt this but instead of 아요/어요 it was the same rule but with 았/었다. I think this might be used for past tense but I just wanted to make sure. If you could talk about this in your new video that would be great thank you!!
    BTW I literally LOVE your channel honestly your so pretty

      Yes that one for past tense. I suggest you to download an app called hanji. It will help you conjugate any verb you put in. You could even enter the word in English.
