What is your favorite hack for going to sleep?

    • @mela-chu

Regularity and daily structure. Hot, healthy food at the same time. The Chinese (TCM) says that you help your body with warm or hot food doing the digestion and that supports your sleep.

Do everything necessary to put your body in a more anabolic state avoid stimulants, under eating and over exercising. I had terrible insomnia for a few years due to being metabolically adapted to a low carb/calorie diet coupled with way too much cardio without adequate recovery. Put myself in a constant catabolic state, tired and wired...once I realised the actual cause, it was a very slow process but essentially an easy fix. Go to bed as a well fed predator as apposed to prey constantly running whilst under nourished, be mindful of the signals your sending your central nervous system by the way way you live and eat.

I bought a 100% cotton linen sheets, all white that I don't know how I lived without. Since I mostly sleep on my side(s), I stuffed a king-sized pillow in a standard sized zippered pillow cover. With one under my knee and another firmed pillow in my front as my top arm goes over like into a hug position. As this, my body feels weightless, it is easy to relax, being grateful and drift into sleep😴.
The white noise from the ion air filter helps as well🌫️ and I drink water before bed.

I "feel weightless" as I sink into bed... Well I thought that was cute.
Also, pay attention at what you eat during the day, and how does it make you feel. I cannot easily digest beef. If I was to eat beef, I would be very uncomfortable for 3-4 hours. That could be/is because I have type AB+ blood and according to the book, Eat Right For (4) Your Type, meaning blood type, I should avoid beef, but turkey and salmon are beneficial among other of my favorites. Good book that seems to have worked for me for maybe 30+ years. Type O, the original blood type should eat lean meats, type A, the farmers should be mostly vegetarians or pescatarians, and type B, some meats, and me type AB, no beef but lamb, turkey and some fish is beneficial.
It has to do with the lethins and how certain foods including vegetables, breads and beans, react in those blood types as either beneficial, neutral, or avoid. Very interesting to me📖.
      Thank you💖.

I fast daily, too, but am pretty much the opposite. I get off work at 3:30 and eat between 4 and 8. I have so much more energy throughout the day not having to process food while I work. I have a very physical job and where coveralls. In the summer, even with just shorts on, underneath, I get too hot if I eat during the day. It's like putting wood on the fire.
I just started watching this, but I don't think sleep requirements are universal. I also think an hour of deep meditation is worth two or more hours of sleep, and I meditate a lot. It also depends on how much stress you incur daily. I live and work on the edge of two mountain wilderness areas and am very active in the outdoors with little interaction with society. I sleep 4 to 6 hours a night and really don't think I need more.

At times, it could be 2-4 hours of sleep is enough. At other times, in my opinion/experience, intermently 5-10 hours could be ok, if possible. Watch/feel how you eat, pay attention to your body/mind.

Apparently i clicked on this and promptly went to sleep, no recollection of seeing, or hearing any of it. Eating a protein rich meal (particularly something with red meat) within an hour before going to sleep works 'really' well (for me) If i'm trying to sleep on an empty stomach, i might get 2.5 -3 hours, but if i do the aforementioned, i'll go right to sleep when i feel like it. If they say "don't eat before going to bed", but it works really well for you, i would disregard what 'they' say, cuz they don't know what works for you. I'll wake up, feeling good after 5.5 - 7 hours of sleep, 6.5 is probably my perfect range.

This seems like a very misunderstood pandemic for both younger and middle aged men these days and it would be good to have another educated opinion on the matter. I personally have suffered from low T during the last 4 years starting at age 32 due to stress, depression, and diet and decided to finally give it a shot to see if it would help and while it seems to have helped a lot with energy and mood levels etc its also very misunderstood on how to properly take it and what the long term affects are per my recent research and experience. I personally microdose trt, hcg, and an AI via very small daily injection into body fat to try and both mimic my bodies natural production levels and absorption process but dont know if im making the right choice long term. I am recovering from a knee injury and I intend to give my knee all the time it needs to recover, but not getting my 40 minute jog in each morning has screwed up my sleep. I walk indoors on a carpeted surface in the living room for 40 minutes and that is not enough high intensity exercise. What kind of blue light blocking glasses do you use? Great idea about getting sun 1st thing in the morning. I tend to enjoy my best sleep when I wear my lavender sleep mask over my eyes because my room is never super dark since I like to keep my blinds open so I can see the sunrise in the morning without getting out of bed.

Great discussion and information. However they miss the biggest reason for sleep disturbance: breathing problems due to airway restriction. Obstructive sleep apnea and upper airway resistance syndrome are the two main causes. Our jaws have been getting smaller over the last 120 years due to softer food. Drooling and mouth breathing, too, are issues interrupting sleep. I've read all of Matt Walker's books and admire his work. Unfortunately he misses the elephant in the room. Check out the work of Stephen Park, MD, an ENT sleep doctor for the REAL STORY to sleep problems.

Does he describe how you can truly heal from it too, or just sleep apnea machines or surgery/meds? A lifted pillow has almost cured me!

@@MoneyStrategiesSOULutions Great that the pillow helped you. Each case is different and may require multiple treatments/adaptations. Dr. Park has the most complete bag of tricks I've ever seen from any sleep researcher. Much of modern day sleep airway restriction is due to smaller jaws.

The most beautiful way to treat nightmares, is to call on the name of Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12
Ask Jesus to renew your mind and take all thoughts captive , but to also test your heart through his love which can show you and heal you from the roots of the nightmares.
