Wrestlemania 18's booking remains one of my biggest what ifs. With most of the top guys healthy they could have done something amazing. Should have unified the titles as the main event after a tourament.
So many possible dream matches 8 legends. Taker, Hogan, Flair, HHH, Angle, Jericho, Rock, and Austin. Hell could have even added Kane, Benoit, Booker T, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash(likely job due to injury?), DDP, Big Show (who was completely left off the card while healthy lol) and the 16th would be further fantasy booked by including one of either Macho Man, Goldberg, Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Mick Foley, Bret Hart, Shawn Micheals and yes even Viscious Pyscho Sid Justice. Hell, Lesnar debuted the next night, he could have been in the tourny too.

17 vs 26, Rock vs Austin II against undertaker vs Shawn Michael's, Hell freezing over against Streak vs Carrier. In terms of wrestling, 26 gets the edge. In terms of after shock value 17 gets the edge. Builds were about equal considering Austin was making his way back to the top, vs Michael's seeking redemption for his loss the previous year. Though the fact that the build for 17 started after Survivor Series 1999, wonky as it was. I think 17 deserves its spot at the top. But frankly you could put either in the top spot

Oh, Tom, that is why I love you so much! You have such a beautiful way of relating to people. Your explanation of how wrestling is a form of escapism perfectly encapsulates its existence in my life. Sure on the surface it may not be the end all be all. But wrestling has always been there for me when I needed it. When I’m down and need to get away from things. Or when I’m happy and can fully invest in it. Beautifully said my friend!! ❤️

I've read tons of analysis, analyses(?) of the Benoit tragedy...compared to the tragedy of Miss Elizabeth and Lex Luger, both are terrible and could have been prevented. I have no issue with wanting to not acknowledge Benoit, but we should talk more about Chris Nowinski's attempt to help wrestlers get them the healthcare they deserve

I completely respect the decision to not rank the Michaels, HHH, Benoit match. Discussion about Benoit as a performer is tied to the final days of his life, whether people like it or not, and as a result his body of work will forever be tainted. It feels wrong to celebrate him, no matter how gifted a performer he was.

I understand taking hhh vs hbk vs benoit out of the rankings, I'm not upset about that decision. I always look at benoit as his inring work vs his outside, last week of his life. It was a horrible thing that he did, but what he did before that should not be forgotten. If peacock wants to erase him from the streaming service, I understand that. I hope they put up a warning instead, because with out him it's a question if where guys today of his size would be. He did cut a path for a lot of wrestlers today to be able to main event some of the top promotions.

Disagree on what Tom said about the WM25 Mainer. Sure, in hindsight, Taker vs. Michaels should've probably gone last, but at the time, Hunter vs. Orton was the right call.
Taker/Michaels had a decent build after the clunky start to the program, but Hunter/Orton had the big moments in their feud that made you want to see the big showdown. I mean, unhinged Orton punting Shane and Vince, RKO and kiss to Stephanie in front of Hunters eyes, the home invasion, that was some great stuff.
Of course, they f'd it up with that stupid stipulation and Taker and Michaels tore the house down, but at the time, their story deserved that Main Event spot IMO.

I don't think Mania 2000's main event was meant to be a long con. A bit before it, Linda told Vince to find a way to fix their family, but it was after the match was mostly set up, if not completely set up. Like this was him reaching out to Steph by helping her husband, and Linda by making the effort, and Shane he could figure out later

    I'll be that guy:
    #1 Taker v Michaels
    #2 Benoit v Michaels v HHH
    #3 Austin v Rock
It is impossible to not think of the final acts of Benoits life when watching any of his matches but from a pure build & in ring point of view it was one of the greatest WM matches ever.
Still a good decision to leave it out of the ranking 8n my opinion.
Much praise to Gary RUclips and Gary RUclips for this one.

In this case...This is the one case that I can separate the art from the artist. Benoit’s matches are great. Yes, the “squeamishness” of Benoit is warranted. But is matches are great! This one, Benoit vs Jericho, any of the Benoit v Angle matches....fantastic.

I'm really sick of people feigning offense at any inclusion of Benoit anywhere.
"...an awful monster."? The dude literally had mush for brains when he did what he did.
Can we have a serious attitude about injuries, working safely, mental health and substance abuse without this moralizing shitty way of framing everything?
I say this as someone who's more removed from the subject because i didn't watch back then, so i don't have that kneejerk reaction of people that followed it at the time.

I agree with the boneyard match it was late at night I watched it I had fun being a huge taker fan since I was young seeing him like I remember kicking ass taking names and burying people in the ground. I agree with this tier list for the most part. As well as I’m one of few who likes the Batista triple h mania 21 match as I’ve seen on RUclips.

Even in the US, Lawrence Taylor's impact in 1995 was probably a little overblown -- and I say that as an American and a big NFL fan. He is an NFL legend and one of the greatest of all time, but had been retired for a full year and hadn't made a Pro Bowl or been selected All Pro since 1990. Also, the United States is a huge country. In his absolute prime, he might have had some coast to coast appeal. But I don't think people outside of the Northeast would have really cared that much about LT in spring of 1995.

The reason hbk vs Bret was only 1 pin fall is because they wanted you to believe these 2 were so great that it was damn near impossible to get a 3 count. This was marketed as the 2 best wrestler in the world going at it so from that storytelling it makes perfect sense.
