So, I’m nobody and I know nothing, so take this for what it’s worth, but: I would have gotten the patient’s consent to gently feel the cranium for bumps (looking for a contusion secondary to a fall or similar trauma). I also would have checked the pupil dilation for consistency. Third, if some dude at a party shows up and claims to be the boyfriend, I would be checking with the young female patient to see how she is responding to his presence. Are these smart? Not smart?
You are being smart . On your detailed patient assessment , pay special attention to the head , pupils , face and neck . Also if the boyfriend is present and she seems to be uncomfortable around him , it would be advisable if you can to move her to a safe area and notify law enforcement .
I enjoy watching these assessments by ACTUAL students. It has really helped me improve my own assessments. Thanks a ton!
