Thank you so much for making this video, you can get super articulation light (1) on the sx900 but would be impossible to get the super articulation 2 on the the sx900 because no after touch and it may have velocity but not true initial touch , and I’m not really a synth guy but love all the super articulation voices , the brass (sax) holy cow so expressive ! Will shop for a deal on a genos one ! Thanks again ❤

Once you hear the difference you can't unhear it. I play keyboard and sing gospel.
I bought the SX900 for the portability. I can easily bring to convalescent homes and other small venues. I will be getting the Genos 2 and a small portable pa for my livingroom and live gigs.
    Thank you for your demo!

It’s timely here in Australia because we can’t get Genos 2. I think we’re the poor relations here. The waiting list keeps getting longer and longer. I want to buy a G2, keep the sx-900 for portability, but I just can’t get one.

I heard that there might be a new keyboard to replace the sx 900 seeing it’s 5 years old. The Genos 2 is quite an advance over genos 1. Great demo and timely as I have been weighing up getting the Genos 1 versus SX 900, I’ve currently got the psr 473 which has enough to give me a taste but has limitations and I can’t export sound to the quality I want.

I just looked at Sweetwater -- I don't see a price reduction for Genos 1 or Genos 2.
Where are you getting your information from?
I think everyone knows about S-art2; and that Genos has more and better sounds. Where is the pricing change you spoke of?
I just checked at Sweetwater and found: Sx900 == $2299 ; Genos is $4999 -- Geno2 is $5699 -- this is the same price difference that has always been there.

Thank you for this. I currently have an SX 900 that I’ve been evaluating and I have a window of opportunity to return it for no and get my money back.
And I’m definitely considering upgrading to a Genos:
For all the reasons you mentioned, the sound differences are phenomenal. The SX 900 sounds fairly cheesy to me.
The longer keyboard, the after touch and the controls.
The first time I had to stop and go to the mixer on the SX 900 and adjust volumes before I could continue playing was a bummer.
While I like the portability aspect of the SX 900 - size weight and speakers, I still think I would bring a Genos with me to a gig .

@@mysticjoe295 Everyone's needs are different. I bought my SX 900 used (For a fairly good price reduction from new), and I'm blown away with it.
Now I'm not a 'Great' singer -- but have you looked at all the vocal processing available on the SX 900 {Genos has the same, I think -- same, but not better!)? The things you can do, vocally, go on for pages and pages and pages of fairly small type! (I had previously been ga-ga over the Korg Pa-4, but no longer.) My budget does NOT include a Genos -- besides which -- I'm still learning. For now, I'm completely satisfied -- but if you are at the level where you think the SX 900 sounds "Cheesy" -- and you can afford it -- it may be time for you to move on. I LIKE the attached speakers and the portability SX 900 offers, and everything else about it. You do you.

I completely agree with you, I have had an SX900 for the last 3,5 years, before that the s975, s970 and before that the Tyros-4, which is already 6 years ago. I currently have a 2nd hand Genos-1 that has already been filled with packs by the previous owner, including the Monumental Choirpack from KaPro of 500 MB.
    ruclips.net/video/XpvKGB6vGY0/видео.html
With the SX900 I had to make do with 1GB expansion and the Genos now has 3GB expansion (after updates), which is a blessing... and indeed I immediately noticed the difference in sound, after all I use for the SX900 as the Genos, the same 2.1 Speaker set (2x 200 watt) that I have had here for years.

despite all the bling bling features of Genos , that particular PSR-SX900 unit in your video has better sound quality and wider headroom sound than that Genos unit , in SX900 sound is littlebit wider dynamically and warmer , cleaner more smooth and articulate , deeper , while Genos has more frequency distortion and physical compression squeezing range into unstable anoying unbalanced midrange. Strange , because in some other Genos comparisons versus SX900 it was Genos sounding better , but in this your comparison SX900 sounds better than that Genos .
There could be few different reasons why is like that , maybe that Genos has cheaper components , but It could be also because they dont have same master settings ,
but if they are both with same settings then definitely that particular SX900 wins in sound quality and anyway based on your comparison i would take that particular SX900 unit in your video over that Genos anytime and its not because of price .
I am talking about those exact units in your video , my comment doesnt apply as same to other SX900 or Genos units because results will vary with each unit because none of them will sound same , they all are having different electroacoustic characteristics , and i think people should use their ears before buying and selecting unit , more money and bigger price doesnt mean people are buying better sound quality , and quantity is not quality because sometime less is more , and more is less .

Like you said...If you were NOT listening to them side-by-side, the SX900 sounds great. Both have more than enough voices and styles. I guess if specific features like 76 keys, after touch, more memory, etc. are important to you (and you can afford it), get the Genos. If those things aren't vital to you get the SX900.

    • @achamilton
      @achamilton  2 месяца назад

That's right but bear in mind its the quality of the voices/styles of the genos over the SX900 which is the attraction rather than the quantity.
