Bethesda Teases Elder Scrolls 6 Playable Build - IGN Daily Fix

- In today's Daily Fix:
To celebrate The Elder Scrolls' 30th Anniversary, Bethesda has given an update on the sixth main game: they're still working on it. Actually there's a little more to it: namely the game is in early stages of playtesting and the devs are actually having a good time playing it. Don't expect any official gameplay footage any time soon, though, as the game still doesn't have a release date. In other news, Capcom is planning a big future patch for Dragon's Dogma 2, which will including performance fixes, an option to start a new game when save data already exists, and more. And finally, rumors abound of Microsoft looking into some kind of Xbox handheld, possibly due to the success of the Steam Deck and other similar PC gaming handhelds. Xbox's Phil Spencer even talked about the features he'd want in a device in an interview with Polygon.

Not that much for me. Elder Scrolls is a very different game compared to Starfield, meaning they can't really make the same mistakes. Not to mention that I'm sure Bethesda knows they cannot mess up their own brand.

Why would it be? Starfield is a space journey, with literal PLANETS to be explored, nothing like a small part of a fantasy world like skyrim...

The creation engine guaranteed mod support which most other companies don't even bother with.
If modders can make Skyrim feel better than most modern day games then Bethesda can do the same with Starfields engine.

That's the least of my concerns. What matters is the world building, and the depth and scale of the game. If I'm not discovering new quest, details, locations, and books after playing for 5,000 hours then it's not even matched tes5.
Ive put well over 6500 hours into Skyrim and still find new things occasionally and still haven't done quite a few quests.

You should be. None of the same team works on these games anymore. Don't expect anything like Oblivion or Skyrim. There's a reason they've re-released Skyrim a million times. They know they can't do better.

They have not been working on Elder scrolls 6 for 17 straight years with their whole team. Not even close. Probably more than half of the time spent has been a small group of people drawing on whiteboards.

Hopefully…seems to me a lot of these companies have gotten to comfortable being close to the top (Bethesda and GameFreak) I’m glad for games like Palworld, Dragon’s Dogma 2 hopefully video game companies will start to put more effort in their games. It’s kinda pathetic Modders have to do everything for them.

I'm not particularly thrilled about waiting for such a long time again only to find out that the game is still using the same outdated engine and mechanics.

With Bethesda's track-record, ES6 is going to probably just as much of a dud as everything else they've done. The series doesn't matter, the people do (and to a greater extent, the engine) you should all know this by now.

It's not playable until we've seen it played. All else is conjecture. For all we know Todd Howard is playing with Elder Scrolls Online engine and Fallout 76 assets

If you guys want Elder Scrolls 6 to stand the test of time like Skyrim has, then base the game around freedom and possibilities like Skyrim...
FO4 and Starfield push you into questing constantly, burning us out quickly, and pushing us into a corner.
On Skyrim, you get guilted into traveling to Whiterun to warn them about the dragon, and then you get guilted into killing the dragon at the Keep, but then it's pretty smooth sailing.
Keep quests optional as much as possible and keep them casual, aside from the main story and a few side quests here and there. That way we can be whoever we want. Maybe I'd rather be a hunter, or a farmer some playthroughs.
