Thank you. Using the Sweep Tool, I show how to make a tubular pipe with two bends in Design Spark Mechanical 3D design application.
Excellent videos Jim. Im learning a lot from you
A lot of thx... I solve homework project with ur video
Thanks Jim! I was trying to figure that out. Got it. Sweep with Alt. Select works for me.
Superbly demonstrated, thanks Jim.
It is a great deal of learning. Thank you Jim.
This is wonderful! Wondering if you have a similar tutorial where you sweep from a circle to an oval? Same exact shape in this tuitorial but one end is a perfect circle and the other end is an oval or rectangle with rounded corners.
Just what I was after and well explained ... subscribed !
Thanks Mike
Very helpful tip, thank you very much.
Thank you, good and helpful video
Very well done,Thanks
You are welcome
Good job !
Jim you have given me the skill to put my thoughts into designspark, Thank you!
Thank you for your inspiring comment. Don't forget to subscribe :-)
Thanks Jim for the videos. I find your videos to be fantastic. Just the right pace. Very detailed.
Wow! Thank you for posting this. I just started with DesignSpark and I'm trying to learn all the things it can do that Blender does. That was super easy.

Masterfull video ! Been using Sketchup some time now and just bumped into this software.
Was it all that painful to download with all the personal questions. I dislike with a passion that Sketchup has now moved to cloud service and so slow on my work PC.. terrible.
Thanks much !
DSM is one of the easiest free apps to download and install.
Greatly appreciate these videos! Going to be making replacement parts! And selling them! The best.
Hi Jim, How can a make a tight 90 degree bend to draw a pipe elbow? I have found all your videos most helpful but this elbow has got me licked...
I do not understand your request as there are two 90 degree bends in this video.
Excellent video's Jim concise to the point, as a pensioner trying to grasp CAD to produce wheels and tyres mostly but having difficulty finding good practical tutorials on how to apply tread to the surface of a tyre, have yoou ever considered doing one DSM specific,??
What kind of a tread? A link to a picture would be handy.
@@jamestaylor7025 Sorry Jim I've never conversed with anyone on RUclips before and it never crossed my mind, DSM wheel / tyre / tread info is every thin here on RUclips, This Russian guy has a good video but no narration so you can't tell what he is doing exactly, ruclips.net/video/GHXmls98mAc/видео.html
I really like these nice short videos. This one was especially helpful to me. I enjoy making wood automata and I needed to add a 3/16" screw eye to a project. It terms of relative size, that is very small but your instructions got the job done. Designing my automata projects with DesignSpark really helps reduce the size of my firewood pile.
Thank you teacher, I'm just learning. Will be watching more from you. I'm having troubles designing a truck cab, any tips? John
It is difficult to give tips when I do not know exactly what you are trying to achieve. However, any requests like yours will probably influence the kind of tutorials I make in the future.
Can the same method be used for doing a hole inside an object?
Is it possible to make a "Y" shape connector/tube? i can make it with the rectangle tool but when i make it using the circle tool and the push pull method in this video the external geometry looks good but internally is not viable design.
This , by far, has been the most instructive lesson, I appreciate what you are doing, please continue with these lessons. I am going to recommend these to my Engineering group that i am a part of. And just for the record, this is much more flexible than solidworks that we use. Thank you, very much !
pls help where I can buy the training book for spaceclaim,or free download this book
If you wanted to change a couple of dimensions, lets say the inner or outer diamter, do you need to redo all the process again, or does it automatically update if you change any dimensions?
You would need to select all of the inner or outer surfaces and Pull them to the dia you need.
Thanks Jim. That was a very clear tutorial. I shall now concentrate on learning design spark mechanical
Hello Mr Taylor, When I create the arc it doesn't automatically remove the 90 degree corner so to speak. What am I missing?
It looks like you are using the Tangent Arc tool instead of the Create Rounded Corner tool which is 2 tools along on the top row.
Witchcraft!!
👹
Thank you, just what I needed. 👍
Thanks Jim!
Very nice demo thanks Jim
Hello Jim congratulation for your tuto.Is it possible to make a tuto on a rc aircraft wing ? Thanks
Can you send me a picture of what you have in mind?
how to make barrel cam
Another way to do this is to draw the sketch as in this video then select the sketch and then click the cylinder tool, set the diameter and use the shell tool to hollow the cylinder.
Thanks for the tip, it does work. It does, however, have the following curiosities. Before the hollowing operation there are spurious dome shapes at the end of the pipe. These can be deleted though, then the pipe hollowed. It needs to be hollowed from both ends otherwise the pipe will have a blanked off end. This could be useful in some circumstances. Thanks again.
Hi Jim. Thank you once again for an informative and to-the-point video.
Thanks. Nice looking dog.
I have watched two of your tutorials and they are great! Thanks!!!!!!
Thanks for your comment - you're welcome
Nice show :) What kind of demo recording software are U using?
I've tried several screen recording software apps and this one is OBS (Outside Broadcast Software) Studio. It's free and works very well once you get the hang of setting it up. One great feature is that it is free.
I got it :) But when you are zooming to a part of the screen and showing mouse clicks are the part of this OBS software?
I am sorry but I've just realised that my video 'pipe with bends' was not done with OBS, it was a previous demo screen capture app that I can not remember. It could have been Camtasia. I've tried so many that I've lost track of them all. OBS is what I am using now and you can see an example of it here:

Apologies, Jim
Thanks a lot nice video.
But how do you make the raster on good position?
I don't understand - raster?
@@JimTaylor42 If you look on that at 50 secs you can see what i mean.
I think that what you are calling the raster is, in fact, the sketch plane. To orient it face-on, press the V key - also explore the 'Orient' section of the Design tab at the top of the screen.
What if you want the end of the pipe to taper? How would you do that?
Thanks
Use either the Draft tool or the Pivot Edge tool in the Pull options.
Thank you for this great example! Subscribed :)
The diameter of the tube is greater than the radius of the bend. It is for a part for a model traction engine...
Good explanation 😁
BRILLIANT! I've just started getting into this 3D stuff and this helps a lot, thanks.

Done
REALLY GREAT - HELPS ME
pls help where I can buy the training book for spaceclaim
I do not know of any third party training tutorials for Spaceclaim. I'm not even sure if spaceclaim itself provides a training book.
thank
A big thank you for all your tutorials Jim!
Thanks Tony
Brilliant. Thanks Jim
Nice to hear - thanks.
"Pipethingey." What a legend.
In my wildest dreams I never ever thought that I would be called a legend in my own lifetime - thank you.
@@JimTaylor42 You are one of the first people to show me how I can use designspark mechanical, i hope i can use much of this knowledge in the future. I even hope to work with CAD some day and this can also help me. =)
Thank you sir! This helps a ton!
You're welcome.
thank u heaps sir!
