The lower fork damper takes a 1/2" drive to 3/4" drive adapter from Harbor Freight and cost less than $5.00. It fits the hex in the damper rod perfectly. Connect it to an extra long 1/2 " drive extention and you got yourself a damper rod tool. Great video. 👍 Did this in an afternoon and was easy.

2015 yamaha bolt R spec I used a 22mm hex driver with extensions to loosen and tighten the dampener. Hope that helps!

Hi mate. I have a Bolt and last week on a ride I hit some big potholes - enough to cause some fork oil to squirt out (now I need to wash my jeans). Since then, if I pump the front suspension hard then I get a very thin film of oil on the forks - it's not really visible unless you run your finger over it. It's nothing like what you showed in your video, and there's no dark high water mark. Is this normal and OK? I'm hoping it's just that some oil got past the seals when I hit the potholes, and I don't need to get them replaced... TIA.

I just wipe the oil off. You can ride a long long time with leaky fork seals.
