Just wow. So many great ideas! I'm currently playing a level 6 Tempest Cleric in one of our games, and now I'm thinking about multiclassing for the first time; you offer three great options. Need to save this video for later reference as I'm really enjoying playing clerics and would love to try adding some variety in the future just for fun.
Recently played in a module with class restrictions. So no druid or ranger. My work around was nature cleric arcane archer fighter. I took magic iniate to get magic stone and made stone arrow heads giving me magic arrows early level. I put most of levels into cleric, but enough levels in fighter for action surge and subclass abilities.
I agree! I have that one in my article. I covered very few ideas in the video. I like playing healers even if D&D 5e isn't great for healing in combat (maybe my contrarian nature is why I like it).
D4 also did a Shadowblade based Bladesinger (I think) that took two levels of Twilight Cleric to be able to have on-demand dim light for advantage. I love that, of all the overpowered abilities the Twilight Cleric has, it is the flavor text of their Channel Divinity that makes the build work.
Been playing a Scribes Wizard with a dip into Tempest Cleric. Scribes Awakened Spellbook lets you change the damage type of a spell similarly to how Transmuted Spell MM works, but without a recourse cost. The wizard spell list has at least one lightning or thunder damage spell for each level except 5th, so your options are plenty
@@binho6600 also want to try a Fallen Assimar Zealot Barbarian/Undead Warlock and really play into beaing the unstoppable terrifying scourge of some death god/demon.
Light/twilight domain cleric + divine soul sorcerer= Basically your a paladin who specializes in magic Cleric+ astral soul monk= your god reaching down to punch your enemies (also works with totem/ansecsteral guardian barbarian)
I think cleric and monk (a Clonk, if you will) is a fun combo . At level 11 an open hand monk gets possibly permanent sanctuary and can become a very hard to hit healer.
Cleric is my go to multiclass whenever I just wanna be a mix maxing poop head. I'm currently Cleric 1 Knowledge Domain and level 3 Theurgy Wizard with my domain being Life. I'm basically gonna be both a cleric and a wizard at the same time without falling off.
For Life Cleric, I did a 1 dip of Life Cleric an 19 in Shepherd Druid. I have been able to straight-up out heal damage dealt to my allies, and Nova Heal with the Unicorn totem spirit. This combo is healing on steroids.
I once played a Lore bard who took 2 levels of Knowledge cleric because, well, I like skill monkeys, and I've never bought into the idea that's been floated around that Jack of All Trades is all a bard needs to be a master of all skills. The extra pair of Expertise (in all practical terms) and the "skill on demand" Channel Divinity feature meant that little bastard could do just about anything, and do it well. 👿 Plus, when he reached bard 6 he took Armor of Agathys and Spirit Guardians, which kinda made him a fantastic battlefield control caster and an extremely effective tank. 🤣
I am not sure Rogue, especially Assassin which mostly have RP features and even cant generate surprise condition by itself, is good for multiclassing since Spiritual Weapon which is fantastic non Concentration 2nd lv spell uses Bonus Action and Rogues uses Bonus Action alot. Spirit Guardian and Spiritual Weapon combo is too good even if Santuary exploit does work not with Guardian, Weapon combo. Personally, not including Abjuration Wizard is quite a big missed opportunity as AW's Arcane Ward is even good for defending Concentration unlike Temp HPs, also super charges Dispell Magic and Counter Spell.
Oops! Fixed it: www.flutesloot.com/cleric-multiclass-guide/ Spiritual Weapon is great a low levels if you're focused on Wisdom. I don't use it at high levels, typically. Good combos you're talking about, though! I'm not sure what you mean about Assassin being unable to generate surprise since any Rogue can achieve surprise with high Stealth and Initiative.
@@FlutesLoot First of all, what is good usage of Bonus Action for Cleric at higher lv? I am pretty sure at least one of other PC would clanking in Metal Armor wielding melee weapon who might alert possible ambush and I do not think it is good idea to jump into fight alone like a dork to whack 1 dude without buddies. At least Gloom Stalkers have access to Pass without Trace which would be better excuse for DM to award Surprise! conditions. To be honest, Surprise! rule is way too ambigous in first place.
@@kwaksea it really depends on the character and circumstance, but I typically try to fill in the bonus action option with something when I build a Cleric.

I liked a build combo of Nature Cleric with Samurai Fighter as a Quarterstaff Polearm master, also makes them more a face if you require a persuading sort.
A combo I will be using is starting out as a order of scribes wizard than dip into knowledge domain cleric if you build it right you end up having expertise in all knowledge skills
For life cleric do necromancy wizard when you kill a creature you gain hit points from spells you gain more hit points from life cleric on top of that too

Or would Artificer-Alchemist and barbarian-juggernaut make more sense? And if so, how? Please & thank you
So with multiclassing do you go back and forth on the leveling until you have the desired level in the lesser or build heavily in one direction, then add in the other?
It really depends, but I personally prefer to only take one or two levels of my secondary class at early levels because I don't want to feel too weak at level 5 without Extra Attack or 3rd-level spells.
Death Domane/Rogue doesnt work. At least not with 18 Lvl Rogue. Since your Channel Divinity needs an Action. Not a Bonus action. So ether you take 2 lvls Warrior in the mix, or you can forget it.
