In this video we take a look at the Glock 42 which is one of my favorite Carry Guns. All Glock 42's are made proudly in the USA in Smyrna, Georgia.
To make this gun just the way I like it, I added Trijicon Night Sights, Talon Grips and bought some ETS 9 Round Magazines outfitted with the X Grip to boost carrying capacity to 9+1 rounds.
We also take a look at three different holsters to carry this gun. A Jackson Leatherworks IWB Holster, Galco Leather Ankle Holster and a Desantis Super Fly Pocket Holster.
The Defense Ammunition shown is Hornady Critical Defense 90 Grain FTX along with some Winchester White Box 95 Grain FMJ practice rounds.

This is my carry piece as well. Works great in practice and carry’s really well. Nice simple choice imo. 👍
pierce +1 AND a Fab Defense +4 for back up , a perfect summer trip
John Moses Browning was a genius!
He was a busy man that’s for sure. We are blessed to be able to enjoy the fruits of his labor!
Great video!
Thanks Josh!
Wow..
Good job on vid..I just bought a 42 yesterday. I agree with your thought processes of practice ammo grains being similar to your carry rounds and shooting sone of those as well. I pocket carry and own the 43,43X and 48 as well.
It is hard to go wrong with a Glock. The Glock 42 is one of my favorite carry guns. The Trijicon night sights, Talon Grips and ETS magazines make it an “even better” carry gun IMHO.
Wow, we have a lot of the same tastes in guns! I have a new 9x18 Makarov barrel that I'm taking out to the range to check out!!!!!
John browning invented the .380
You are Correct! I’ll try to make the next question in a future video a bit harder :)

I bought the G42 when it first came out. I had Buffalo Boar Ammunition that wouldn’t function in the G42. I decided to get rid of it since I owned the Kahr P380 Black Diamond model with Trijicon sights. It was another $150 dollars more compared to the G42. Hickok45 did an excellent review of the P380. I own numerous Glock pistol. I was issued a Glock 19 and loved the reliability of Glock. This particular model wasn’t reliable with the Winchester white box 90 grain flat nose FMJ. I heard the early models needed an upgrade from the factory. The G42 was a soft shooter. It was a bit large for a .380 pistol when you can get a 9mm pistol in even a smaller platform.
@@boostimalaka1 Sorry you had trouble with your Glock 42. I think I was lucky and got a good one.
Hickcock 45 and plinkster 22 have gotten me in so much trouble, almost divorced because they make me buy stuff my wife says I don't need 😭🤣
Love this gun, I love the Speer Gold Dot Hollow Points… I have had this gun many years and have over 1000 rounds through it with not 1 problem.
Me too. There are a lot of newer guns out there with a higher capacity but this one just works. The Talon Grips, Trijicon Night Sights and the ETS magazines really help.
I really like the format of this video and that you showed the different ways you can carry it. I would have liked to see how well it fits in a pocket as I'm trying to decide between this and a LCP max for pocket carry.
Thanks for the encouragement! You can pocket carry the Glock 42 but you need to wear pants or shorts with a deep enough pocket otherwise you might see the grip sticking out a bit. I have not shot the Ruger LCP Max but I do own a Sig P365 Optics Ready No Safety 9mm that is of similar size to the glock 42 but with more capacity (10 or 12+1 rounds). They make the P365 in both .380 and 9mm. I have shot both and the recoil is a little less with the .380 model. Hope this helps!
Have you tried the 7 rnd ets mags? They are flush stick fit and hold 7. I’m thinking of using them but haven’t seen much negative or positive about them. I see a bunch of 9-12 rnd ets mag reviews. Great vid.
I have not tried the 7 rounders yet. But I think I might order a couple and start running them. 7+1 will be nice. Thanks for the tip!

My every day carry is a Glock 42 .380 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a pocket holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!
Good video. Does the giant mag release ever cause accidental drops? Thanks
I have never had any problems with accidental mag drops.
Thanks, that's the first thing I think of when seeing that huge button.@@FieldStrip357
This pistol comes with a laser sight but can't find anyone who knows how to change the battery!
Not all 42’s are made in the US, just the ones for the american market; mine says Austria…
This is from Glock’s Website:

I would like to see a picture of the gun you mentioned here.
Thanks!

Unless you got it from overseas or you live overseas... that would be tough.
My first 42 was made in Austria, but like all early 42s, it had its problems. Sent it back to Glock and they changed out 3 parts and exchanged the magazines. Works perfectly now. My 2nd 42 was made in GA…has worked perfectly right out of the box.
I heard the early models had feeding issues because of the clips. Glock fixed it, now they run flawlessly. I love my new G42.
