Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth make all metal clutch pencils with built in sharpeners for considerably less than the Rotring pencils. Made in Czech Republic. I love my Rotring 600 but IMO, the Koh-i-noor products are a far better value than either Rotring or Staedtler.
it is a week point i do construction and bought the same one you got there i dropped it from about 20ft up and it feel right on edge of concrete foundation and snapped at the plastic part and i lost the little plastic lead guide on the end that goes into the sharpener. but other than that love the lead holder great for framing 2. but yea dont drop from way up and let it hit right on the wrong spot. i emailed them yesterday just waiting for responce see if they can repair or replace or anything. i ordered the black one tell then just to see how nice it is
I carry a Koh-i-noor Hardmuth clutch pencil with a 5.6mm graphite. It is completely metal and brass and a pocket friendly 5" long. The leads can be bought in artist harnesses and work well for me as they will even mark on wet pressure treated posts. Its like having a retractable carpenters pencil. This looks nice for detail work though.
If you mean you own the Kohinoor 5340, it's the best lead holder I 've ever used! It's precision and writing performance, blows out any other pencils I own. My handwriting looks way more beautiful even compared with Pentel Kerry, which is considered the best mechanical pencil for writing out there! They also make the best Red Chalk for sketching!! They call it Russet Sepia in the 5.6mm lead form. Is use a common pencil sharpener which makes the leads sharp and long. That provides both a super fine precision and a super wide side for shading big areas while drawing! The Dark gray and the gold color versions, are the most beautiful. PS There is a Faber Castell eraser, that fits perfectly inside the sharpener inside the button! You just unscrew it, and you have both an eraser, or you pull it out and you also get the sharpener!! 2 in 1 win win plus one of the best pencils ever made!!!!
Lol. I guess I should explain a bit more. The reason I like that square so much is because it is very pocket friendly, you can carry this a lot easier than the traditional rafter square. Also, the scribe notches are set up every 1/8th of an inch, making layout a breeze. It really is a pretty great square for layout of small parts. Thanks for watching. I am hoping to start adding in a lot of tools in the future, including layout, cordless, hand tools, and some of the higher end corded tools we use.
Did you know that there is a mechanical pencil from Rotring Company called Rapid Pro 0.5? It has 2 legendary characteristics, which were She was ahead of her time. The nib comes out mechanically, or the pen lengthens the nib without pressing the pen from the back - just pressing the pen while writing, the nib comes out automatically. Secondly, the Chubb feature is the nib protection feature that is present in the Zebra pencil called Dell Guard to protect the lead from broken .The strange thing is that no one ever talked about these amazing features. Even the company itself did not disclose the matter.. really strange.
I have a bunch of mechanical pencils. I really, really wanted a Rapid Pro 2.0, and I finally got one. Really, really a nice pen. It really is. I really, really like it. Really. ;-)
I've got a different 2mm pencil and like it for writing. Feels like a regular wooden pencil without the drawbacks. Just make sure you have the right kind of graphite so you don't have to sharpen too often
Check these out. My whole crew uses them. The graphite holds up better than the 2mm and they have a built in sharpener that actually works half way decent. WarmShine 2 Pack 3.0mm Metal... www.amazon.com/dp/B07F1PSCYG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Been using Staedtler 2mm pencils with 2H leads for years. Using another pencil than a 2mm feels weird. Keep up your excellent work!
I looked at a lot of Staedtler mechanical pencils, also Pentel. There are some really good ones out there. I like my choice so far though.
@@txtoolcrib To be honest, the Staedtler were available locally and cheaper than the rOtring. From that point, it wasn't rocket science! 🙂

Yeah I really wish they had kept the metal thread of the 600 series. :(

I saw those when I was shopping around. Those would be great for general marking on a variety of different stuff.

Nice!!!! Your videos are random in a wy but its everything i have been looking into. I was just looking for marking pencils.
Thanks. I hope they are not too random. I'm trying for the most part to stay in a tool and work related theme.
This is a great great square. Lol! On a serious note though, excellent review! Fun to see a different type of item being reviewed on this channel.

Ty for silver streak info i am a noob welder and i didnt known this very specific pencil
Silver Streak is awesome.
My Menards 2.0 man mechanical pencil has a sharpener under the cap I haven't seen one that hasn't had one
Hey Ben can you do a review of the original leatherman super tool
Steve Sager I can. I will put it on the list. I must warn you though. The list is quite long.
You make my gadget obsession seem down right laughable!
I don’t disagree, but this one is not a gadget. It’s a tool that I will use almost every day.

Really?
Great mech. pencils but I'm not using my good stuff in work, ill keep my rotring& staedler- mars at home
I can understand.
The red plastic is a weak point, sheared on mine.
Is the 2mm good for writing or just marking?
It’s personal preference, but I prefer a .9 mm for writing. But this 2mm is superior for marking layouts on steel or wood.
I've got a different 2mm pencil and like it for writing. Feels like a regular wooden pencil without the drawbacks. Just make sure you have the right kind of graphite so you don't have to sharpen too often
i preffer full metal pencils from aliexpress for 3-4 usd, then plastic overpriced shit from rotring
Tell us how you really feel, don’t hold back this time.
