I just got a commission for a portrait that is basically all curly hair (80's era Rock Musician), and this is like the universe aligning to help me make the best sculpture I could make, because it's such a great example of how you can't rush hair (certainly not curly hair). There's no short cuts, just good attention to form, patience and masterful use of shadow. I'll be watching several times. Cheers!!
Philippe you did an amazing job with the likeness of Michelle. It's a stunning rendition of her and her curly locks. I am local to you if you are looking for another model! I am less curly more lighter wavy long hair with deep set eyes and high cheekbones with pointed face and older. The music choice on your demonstration was a perfect compliment while watching your video. I'm so glad you are sharing your talent with the world!
Awesome Philippe! I have an actual clay facial impression from a mold I did with my mother in her pottery class 29 years ago.A lot of vaseline and trying to remain calm while the setting material was poured on my face while breathing through straws up my nose. I can send you a photo of it to determine if you think my bone structure is worthy enough since it's an identical likeness. With the exception my eyes are closed and you couldn't smile. We are artists in our family and not afraid to try something new! I look forward to seeing more of your work now that I have been introduced! Do you ever use photos from nature to inspire a sculpture? I have an amazing photographer that his photos of birds would make stunning sculpture pieces. Can I send you a couple to show you what I mean?
Thank you for making this video. Hair is an abstract and complex form to sculpt. Your video really takes the time to show the planes and breaks down the structure of the form. Thank you for making this!!
Wow! I did not know if I would enjoy something like this, but I really did! I wish I could do that, but it is very therapeutic just to watch. You should send me a bill. Thanks!
Beautiful and inspiring, thank you so much for continuing to share your process. It's been a while since we met at your class, which I enjoyed quite a bit, and I am so happy to see an update to what you are creating.
Thank you for sharing. I had a look to your online shop where you sell DVDs. Unfortunately i do not have a dvd player anymore. Do you sell tutorials as downloads as well?
