Not sure if this has been mentioned in the comments, but the jetpack is incredibly useful in flooded moons, as you can hop from one exit to another whilst getting out of water.
one of the best items in the game imo (even on titan). it takes being very skilled at it for its use to really come into play. luckily thanks to my quick learning skills I've been mad dashing around maps farming all the light loot i can carry while taking the heavy stuff back by hand early in the day. all my teammates have to worry about is bringing items back to the front of the facility and i take care of the rest.
The first time I tried using the jetpack I flipped right into the ocean, 'twas a learning lesson... Good video!
Honestly for how early beta this game is, the fact that what's possible is possible right now and what people do with it and give feedback on, will shape how the game will go.
I don't think this dev in particular will be too anti-fun, but probably anti-cheese and may add some things in legit instead of having people use makeshift strategies or use items in a different purpose, if he does fix cheese stuff in the first place.
As for the jetpack, probably not much will change in that regard besides the bugs, but maybe more usefulness and better functionality on upcoming maps or against new enemies, who knows.
An update should be dropping in around a week so that's exciting.
plus overall new single handed items will getadded i bet. i know gold bar is the best for now but later on im sure they add more scrap to collect as it would get old fast if not
I swear if the rail cheese is fixed 😭
give it time friend it is kinda broken lmao but fk imma be scared afer that i hater spider@@Guhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I don’t think the dev cares about cheese
Would be interesting if the dev added some kind of "Silo" dungeon, where the map is organized around one or multiple big vertical shafts. It would make the Jetpack interesting to navigate quickly from one end to the other by using it inside the silo. Also, if the dev adds some kind of harness that would allow you to carry a heavy item hands free, that would allow to use jetpack to carry heavy stuff back to ship.
Jetpack is so underrated, even by Wurps! For solo its pretty much a necessity. For teams, it's great for the terminal person, especially if you need to quickly bring something to a teammate, and grab some small items on the way back. Also great for last survivor to get some extra items in clutch situations. Great for avoiding giants and dogs, or as Wurps mentioned, pulling them away from an area and then escaping. Excellent for flooded moons as well, but terrible on stormy, as it is conductive.
There will probably be more maps (and perhaps even more *types* of runs, like an outdoors-only run?) in the future, so stuff like the jetpack will definitely be able to have things to do
outdoor only run already exists. It called collect the bees
These guides are really useful, because there are also general tips that are useful to everyone, like the fall damage explanation. Thanks
Another major appeal of the jetpack is really just late game, and i mean literally, like after 4. on top of being a usefull distraction you can teleport the team back while you pick up what they leave. just have them drop everything at the door, you do the back and forth and when theyre done, you can teleport them and not have to deal with any of that late night BS whatsoever. since you can avoid the enemies, eclipse becomes less of an issue and rain is non issue

looked for a guide for the jetpack yesterday, couldn't find one, today I watch your advanced monster guide, and see a jetpack guide pop right into my feed. thanks good sir 🤙🤙
For reference on tilting with the jetpack, I think one of the easiest ways to explain it to some people is it's like flying a helicopter in a lot of games. The movement is VERY similar to helicopters in games like Battlefield for example where you essentially "thrust" to move up, and you tilt into the direction you want to move.
It also works the exact opposite way, are you trying to slow down? Well again just like using a helicopter in other games, you want to create I guess it's counter force. If you have speed going forward and want to stop, you need to create speed going backwards to even out. Want to land? Well you need to let gravity do the work and counteract the gravity by "feathering" to not fall so quick you die.
As for using it, honestly it's very "meh" I would say as someone who likes it. I don't play solo, but I know for sure if you play solo it's WAY better. Problem is that you can only grab 3 small items at a time with the jetpack, but when you have 4 people leaving at the same time and you have 12 slots for small items and 4 for large items, assuming nobody has even made earlier trips back to the ship with some items, it's not often you're going to really need the speed the jetpack gives.
I am bad with map names, but the mid tier map that IS NOT March I believe is the one that has the pipe that you either need to jump onto while landing OR get a ladder to get up. The jetpack is good for that of course, but it's probably a good idea to let your team know that you'll drop the jetpack down in case you die they can actually get it.
I also think it's really good for Titan for the sole fact that you can get to and from the entrance in 5 seconds, which with how fast and how dangerous the outside gets, being able to just bring stuff back early so that your team isn't stuck worrying about getting scrap with the dogs around later is great.
Also it is like the only way to secure any loot from the entrances once enemies are outside of the ship. Knowing to jump before trying to fly makes it that you get well out of dodge near instantly. I actually have a clip from streaming with friends where I fly in to try securing loot really late, a giant targets me with no cover at the main entrance and I can just drop the large item and fly practically across the map back to the ship in 5 seconds with 2 small items. Yeah it was only worth like 60 but the fact it was mostly safe to do so is insane. Bonus is that I think nothing can get you ON the ship, so as long as somebody is insane I believe they can start the ship, wait a second then you can just walk in guaranteed.
I ain’t readin all that but hell yeah, or I’m sorry that happened
The thing about jumping before using the jetpack makes sense, because an object in motion remains in motion. Same thing works in Outer Wilds (Great space camping / detective puzzle game btw, go in as blind as possible), because you can do a "Mega Boost" with the jetpack. Think of 2 containers, the main fuel container where the fuel is stored (Which gets used when you try to move mid-air), and the mega boost container, which is smaller, but it siphons off of the main fuel container quickly on the ground, and slowly in the air.
Because you can't mega boost for long, and it takes way too long to recharge in the air, you usually want to jump like normal then IMMEDIATELY boost so you don't waste fuel getting yourself in motion. Same pretty much goes for Lethal Company but all the time, where you have the main power source that drains when you use the jetpack, and the fact it will explode if used too much at once (Like that smaller mega boost chamber I mentioned)
I wish there was something like jump maps for the jetpack. Load into a moon, no timer, just fly and avoid.

@@rictuserectus6686 They can still do a recovery mission from other failed employees. Just park the ship somewhere, then autopilot to a safe spot in orbit. When the employees are done with their task, they hit the "Call" button near the landing site, and the ship automatically comes down to pick them up.
I think for titan, it can be used as a good "rollout" type tool, you use it to get up very fast, drop the ladder down, then go in and loot, then come back out and use the ladder drop.
The jetpack is very good on solo runs because it helps nullify the main problem which is not having 4 people to haul loot back and forth. You'll still have to take 2 handed objects by hand but it still saves a lot of time.
8:28 lovely how you just calmly said "oh its quicksand"

i meant i would have screamed
I've watched this a couple times and just noticed the "If you know any other uses, let me know" so I figured I'd tell you something interesting I've been playing around with...
I first discovered it on March and I've not really messed around with it anywhere else, but if you jump out of the ship with a jetpack while you're landing and fly to the right position, you can be "crushed" under one of the "beams/poles?" of the ship... then, if you use the jetpack and hold W until you flip, you can clip into the map and play around. I'm unsure if this will ever be useful, but it was neat to spot all the beehives and such. You can fly out from the lake if you don't want to risk dying elsewhere, but you can also enter the fire exits from behind em.
Lol, nice find! I usually fly up decently high to spot the beehives (but not too high), they're very easy to see in the right layer of fog from a distance provided there's a view through the trees

a few notes from the future:
taking fall damage is now a lot easier and has been increased to 30/50/80/100. Note that there is a very small gap between taking the smallest amount and dying instantly.
Also, critical injury is under 20 health and taking the smallest fall damage will never* kill you if you are not currently critically injured.
*weird math/bugs/mods not included
In a team senario I could see it as being a quick way to have the people inside only bring the essensials, then get other tools delivered on demand when needed, but it seems expensive for that unless it's later game.
Just me blurting out thoughts but since I wrote it already: Many interesting things that could eventually be done with the game to make for situations where items that are usually not considered good could have valuable uses, since the game uses the concept of moons I'd think it would make sense to eventually have the rotation time of the moons be different, where some of them would have a longer day. But implementing it as a mechanism would probably need considerable thought... IDK (thinking it would be cool with some moons where you have a lot of time but need more planning and teamwork to deal with and get the loot, I was thinking firstly in terms of having to work around challanges and dangers, perhaps other types of creatures and maybe something that would resemble a puzzle), don't have many hours or anything as I usually just look to join friends, a little bit back and forth when people want mods. Would be nice if that was easier to manage, but we're probably already putting a lot of weight on the solo dev, who I hope gets all the love and support they need to keep making and loving what they do. Tho I guess most things will remain mostly lethal in some way.
Seeing that modding is already going in many directions things will be interesting for a while I hope.

Unless you have some strategy for giants I don't know about. It seems jetpack is the only consistent strat against them. Getting loot from the facility to the ship tends to be the hardest part of the game on the harder maps. Rend and Dine especially.
In a very tough spot, you could always use the live bait method. And if you have a teleporter, there's a chance you won't lose the bait! But there's always risk, so, better hope whoever's running retrieval is on their top game that day.
i know right, Rend and Dine are so difficult right now, and if you have a weather affect its over, titan is way easier than those two. its so easy to get lost on them and they are really big and i feel like the forest giant is overpowered right now, i think the live bait strat could work though

Thank you very cool 👍 But if you made this video sooner then maybe I wouldn't have died about a dozen times because of me breaking my ankles
Dying is fun
jetpack on titan as a ladder shortcut, then drop it off the stairwell back to the bottom to pick it up on the way to extract
I'd say that Titan is all about how fast you can get in and out due to the high spawn rate of monsters that are impossible to kill and make looting extremely difficult, and having someone with a jetpack carry, say, a shovel, a lockpicker, and one other weighted item and jump off at the start to immediately get up to the entrance then drop the gear there, would marginally speed up the run because the rest of the crew would not be as slowed on their trip up the stairs. Then it's just a matter of dropping stuff off the ladder (which weighs nothing so someone else can bring it up)
You can get out of quicksand with it!?
Can you escape water with the jetpack or is it inoperable underwater?
I also assume it does not work indoors?
You can jump out of quick sand if you are fast and light enough. You can just fly over water with the jet pack, no idea if it works in the water tho (I assume it wouldn’t but I haven’t seen it or tried it). And I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work indoors, there isn’t enough room for you to fly around normally, similarly to the ship!
It does work indoors, I have flown over gaps with it but it's pretty silly. Have not tried in water, I honestly should have tested that!
It does work in water, saved me from flooded maps
@@Wurps The jetpack is great for using flooded fire exits. Vow is an easy one to test with the fire exit being submerged right away during a flooded moon.
it works in water
also i haven't heard you mention it here but a huge bug makes me randomly take damage at the very instant of takeoff for up to 60 damage
But i think i've found a solution to it: dropping and picking up the jetpack every time you want to take off
I believe the bug is caused by landings that make a "thump" noise but dont hurt you -- somehow carrying over to the next time you activate the jetpack and then hurting you
It constantly happened to me and drove me WILD
edit: doesn't fix it, this is so annoying
@@Wurps
The jetpack is currently bugged and will "randomly" damage you the moment you try to take off.
There is a mod that fixes that: JetpackFallFix v1.0.1 by Hamunii
be warned, this fix also forces you to make slightly smoother landings lest you take damage, but i believe this is the intended difficulty and NOT taking damage without a mod is actually part of why you randomly take falldamage on takeoff vanilla
I was thinking that the jetpack would be effective at collecting beehives as you could easily escape the bees via flying
Bee hive is two handed item unfortunately
@@daiwang8111 :(
You also wouldn’t wanna do that unless you plan to leave shortly after. The bees will just stay aggressive when out of range of their hive and they’ll kill anyone they come across.
Can the Giant kill you Midair while using the Jetpack? if so does it have the range that is the same as when grabbing you on Ground?
Yes
thank you for the guide man. the first time I use the jetpack I flew straight into a wall
the jetpack isnt useless, it is distinctly faster than walking and does not care about your weight i think.
it isnt very hard to afford it AND everything else by the third qouta and it does genuinely have a positive impact, you will be able to haul the items back much faster on most maps and either not need to endure the later night, or actually get more scrap relatively.
it even still has a impact if you get alot of two handeds, as atleast you can make a dedicated trip with them instead carrying 1 and 3 other single handed ones to slow you down. (obviously, its better on one handeds tho)
I've become more of a jetpack enjoyer since this video, with Rend becoming the best map the jetpack gained a lot of value
the way I use it is getting from base to ship with one handers at the beggining so earlier we get everything out AND to make it to main with shovels and shotguns for everyone and getting stuff we need from the ship by ordering something and than taking it with the jetpack aswell as getting to tougher fire exits (assurance, adimance, those ones as well as getting to titan's entrance quick by jumping off as the ship lands) as well as in the base using it to move quicker like avoiding stairs, going above monsters to dodge, getting across gaps, so and so it is incredibly fuckin useful in later moons and assurance as well as avoiding old birds on embrion and other maps so I use it a ton
Wow, now i know why i was doing insane flips in the ait before Hard land

Now all you need a gun , and you'll be the rocketeer.
Oh god, i never knew drop the jetpack mid air before fell to the ground would save you! Thanks this is will be useful for me to wander around the map since my role on team are transporting the loots
as a solo player if you already have titan, and happen to get enough money for jetpack, couldn't you use it to get up with a ladder and so on, place the ladder, then just drop the jetpack, since your essentially just going one time up and down, you go up, get loot, throw it down, then go down and carry it into the ship. Using the jetpack to shave off some time in the beginning could prove useful.
jetpack is good for floods, eclipses, escaping the water pits as well
I love the jetpack. Somehow, as soon as I tried to use it, I was really good at it, and them my friend tried and exploded instantly
i can see a use where you just leave it by the facility door and when your friends come out they haul their stuff back charge it and put it back down at the door
Your points are valid and probably true, BUT the jetpack is really funny. So try to beat that
Computer man with a jet pack makes it easy to get the people stuff if they need it during the shift.
Will you do some jetpack freestyling like in rocket league?
What mods do you use to be able to possibly mess around with this stuff?
I found out that the battery draining bug or whatever it is happens when you also press E while you are holding the jetpack. Pressing E again fixes it.
Probably a bug.
The jetpack has just incredible potential on all worlds because it beats all outside enemies incredibly easy as you can lure them into ditches and save you from eclipse worlds, flooded worlds, and muddy worlds even better is the ability to just transport things quickly durring stormy worlds. The three item carry helps a lot when you can just have that mobility to get to ship as fast as possible. On titan the ladder is incredibly useless in my opinion since you can always drop it off on to the ship since the map verticle, but no ladder will save you from giants spawning up there, you're more better off buying zap gun for indoor and outdoor stunning and saving.
In my opinion ladders are good early game to access dines emergency exit without jetpack as being able to visit all exits guarantees lots of loot quickly.
Staying in the ship is essentially throwing the game, jetpacks are only balanced by the skill of the player which makes them broken.
using jetpack in stormy world will just get you struck mid air

Ngl. Only really watching this because it ended my nightmare of being peter in his house at night with an odd goat guy demon thing..
I have a question, how do you fly the jetpack that fast by just looking forward? Was trying to redo that somehow but the only thing I managed is by tilting my self forward to gain velocity... Are there any tricks to do that? I don't even see where I am flying since I just see only stuff under me
A jumping takeoff with an immediate forward tilt (using W) and holding thrust for a good amount of time builds pretty good speed, you can look around with the mouse to see better
