Thanks big red!!! Appreciate you good buddy... I knew this was all you! I’m glad you made a video on it.. I adore this knife.. best modern Slip on the market
Have this in black and have used EDC for just under a year.. It is THE BEST folder for UK legal carry at the price. Cannot recommend this highly enough. I also have the larger 'Comrade' in the same steel. Both these knives are superb. Thanks for a great review of a great blade.
That is one cool "Big Red" Manly Wasp! An excellent utilitarian folder very much like a modern version of the the Sodbuster pattern, one of my favorites! Thanks for a great review of your latest outstanding acquisition!
Holly smokes I love that piece...... I can't get my hands on one!!!!!!! Great blade I love the feeling of the stops...... I'm a traditional guy I love that feeling!!!!!!!! Cool blade big red!!!!!!
I have to say the more I see if these the more I think I might light the extra stops. When I first saw these I dismissed them entirely. I’m slowly coming around to the idea. Thanks for sharing!!
Lovely knife , Heinne Haynes is the go to firm for knives in the UK .I've carried traditional knives for fifty years and never closed one on my fingers .ATB Dave
The red version can be purchased here but currently out of stock: www.manlyusa.com/product/manly-wasp-red-cpm-s90vYou can buy a green or black version from here (not sure they will ship to the US): www.heinnie.com/manly-wasp
Ah HH,where the better part of my spare income goes! I’ve one of these that I’ve never used. I bought a green one at the same time that I used for a bit, then I gave it to my son. These are really good work knives. Not pretty like a traditional, but if you just want to cut, cut, cut, this is your boy! Grippy handle, sharp S90v steel and all for fifty quid.... what’s not to love?! 4 stops? So what? On the plus side, I don’t really like half stops as, when you start to close them, they spring to 90° and if you’ve a sharp blade you can hit your knuckle. This avoids that, but non-half stop knives don’t spring till they close.
All the stops don't bother me at all. Honestly I never carry tradionals only collect them but if I was going to carry a traditional this would be it loving the pocket clip on it and it looks so slicey the blade shape is just a absolute do all in good blade steel. This knife is a Real Winner for a all around Great pocket knife and it is Red ! Congrats on that Blade.
I am not worried about a traditional closing on my hand, but I do like a nicely done half stop. I'd rather have the extra stops like the wasp than none at all. Just my preference, doesn't really make a big difference either way. I've used traditionals off and on all my life, and I'm about to turn 60, so the half stop isn't super important to me, but it is nice to have.
Great looking knife. Thought you were going to say you got it from Paddy he is very into Heienne Haynes. Why is that his version. I don't see any of the filework on spine. Did he just smooth it out?? Curious what makes it his versus a regular Manly Wasp. Great looking knife. Don't think I would mind the stops. Very good red color. Have a great day really liked the review.
I can't understand people complaining about the quarter stops, when they also complain that slipjoints are ''dangerous''. This together with the half choil on the tang pretty much eliminate that danger. For people like me here in the UK this is probably one of the best options for a good solid folder in a good steel (I have the S90V), way more bang for the buck than similarly or higher priced models, many of which made in China and from inferior steels, e.g. some Spyderco, CRKT, Real Steel etc. Manly also took on board criticism with the earlier Wasps about the positioning of the middle screw causing dings on the blade and have resolved this issue. Furthermore it seems they also listened to criticism of having the word ''Manly'' emblazoned on the pocket clip, the one I ordered just has the emblem at the top of the clip.
I would agree Simon!! This has to be one of, if not the safest slip joint in production! Always great to seeing companies responding to the user's feedback! Thanks so much for watching!!
I’ve always liked this blade the big handle for a good grip and a great working blade design. I own a manly fixed blade in D2 good sheath great design and control a great thin sharp edge comfortable G10 handles for Like $50. I paid $40 but that was yrs ago or u can upgrade to cpm154 which is my favorite stainless fixed blade steel but it will cost u around $100 but if I had it over again I’d get the one in cpm154 not that there’s anything wrong with there D2 and I might not even notice the difference in performance I’ve just always had good experiences with cpm154 and it will probably always be in my top 10 steels
Hello. There is nothing better than a simple design well made. All the best.
