You're more than welcome buddy. It's fun making knife reviews so there's more to come. Just out of interest, are you related to a buddy of mine? His name is Slippy McSlipjoint 😂
Hi Harlee. I've seen quite a few people in Insta with the thumb studs. Everytime I see one I think "I need to get one of those" 🤣 they do look good with them. I hope you're having a great weekend 👍
I have several D2 knives they are very sharp and stay sharp for a long time if you don't cut up 10 large boxes each day.I have the Luna with a black handle but i payed 39 euros.I still think this a good price. The deep pocket clip is excellent.
Hiya Hyde, hope you're well. 100% agree here buddy. I think for the price this is a cracking package. Money has been tight this year for a lot of people and having a knife that's well made, great steel and still comes in at a great price, this is a no brainer. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great week buddy 👍
This version is really nice- love the red. -- I've got a carbon fiber/N690 Luna, as well as one like this except with jade/'natural' g10 handles & D2. I'd get a micarta/s35vn version but I don't have the $ yet... ---- Take care- good review!
Thanks. I really appreciate the link words. I'd love the micarta version too. It's the one scale material I don't own so far. I'll keep saving. Stay safe and well, 👍
Hi Andy. Love the Luna. This one was one of those that straight away grew on me. I'd love to hear your thoughts when yours arrives 👍 all the best buddy
If you have three, you'd definitely have to be a fan 😁 yeah I might get one of the other versions. It's a great knife and I'd love another for different carried. Thanks for commenting James. Have a great week
Hey Tim. Yes, I just spotted the new black blade versions today. Heinnie do a qwik thumb stud that pretty good. Thing there's a stainless version which with a bit of barrel black will look good, or there's a copper version as well. What do you think of the knife?
Super easy. Search on RUclips for 'metal bluing' or 'super blue'. The easiest is a solution. You paint it one, leave for the desired colour and then since off. It helps to reduce rush too. I've blued a few knives and my wood working axe
The knife is well worth the money. The only foreseeable problem i have found is the pocket clip. Its spring steel, but not the best. If you open it too much it WILL bend and stay open. It is also riveted on, which i was disappointed with as i wanted to make a sheath for it with a lanyard. Still......worth buying one
It does feel flimsy, however I'm not a big fan pocket clips. I really don't use them and often take them off once they've been reviewed. Great point those, great advice for other comments reads... Still buy it though 😊 loved by all 👍 thanks for commenting Michael
Michael Hodgkinson saw your comment about the pocket clip being riveted on ,it’s actually screwed on from the inside the knife is very simple to take apart ,hope this helps
Best knife for EDC? Wooow, that's hard. I can only really vouch for knives I've owned or used (it's only fair that way). I'd probably say in my experience I'd go for the Civivi Elementum. Great steel, value for money and just an amazing action when you open it. There's definitely better knives out there for steel, ergonomics etc however the Elementum ticks lots of boxes. If anybody else reads this commnent, feel free to reply too. This is a great thread
Because i bought the Maserin Scout also with D2 steel a couple of months ago (49 euros or 40 pounds) I think i'll skip this knife, but the Luna is great value for money.
Real Steel Luna is a good knife, no question. I bought the brown micarta S35VN version a week before Heinnie brought this one out from nowhere at a quarter of the price, so I'm not feeling very clever! (I'd define D2 as a 'stainless' steel myself. Strictly speaking, all steels are carbon steels, otherwise they'd be iron! It's just the amount of added carbon and (more specifically) the other added ingredients which determine how 'stainless' (i.e. corrosion resistant) a steel is. D2 has 11.5% chromium, and I believe there's a standard that says stainless steels should contain a minimum of 12% chromium. Also, D2 has a bit more carbon than average at 1.5%, but I can't see such a popular quality general purpose tool steel being non-stainless! That's my understanding anyway. I've got a Maserin Scout in D2 and several Ganzos in D2 and that certainly perform as a stainless steel, whereas the blades on my Opinel Carbone models and GEC 1095 carbon steel knives turn grey if they spot a piece of fruit at twenty paces...)
Hi Anthony. Yes, I thought the same. I check the regs and it's the cutting edge specifically, so you have to measure the length of the bend around the belly of the cutting edge rather than a measurement along the spine from the tip to the cutting edge notch. I think most officers will use the spine as the rule of thumb though. It's easier to measure quickly, however if the officer really wanted to be a stickler for the exact law, he or she would measure the actually cutting edge. There's definitely things I've bought that say UK friendly, however the measurement has been done wrong. It's very easy to fix if you add your own Spanish notch. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy. have a cracking week
@@MoorlanderEDC likewise, added a chol or whatever the notch is called to a few of my knives actually, makes them easier to sharpen on ceramic rods like my lansky turnbox, reasonable sharpener but dangerous to use out of a vice as my fingers will attest
@@MoorlanderEDC where did you find the expanded regs on carry knives? Be handy to know (video on them perhaps) seeing as many police consider knives illegal to carry in general and the .Gov site is rather vague on the matter.
Hiya Anthony. It's on the main .gov site here www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives They talk about the cutting edge. I've checked with a few other sources too - My local police station and quite a few knife forums as well. I'll try and see if I can find the article I read when it talked about the governments decision to restrict blade length and they used the cutting edge rather than the tip to notch if it was measured down the spine. You're 100% right though it's can be a bit vague. Hope this helps buddy
@@MoorlanderEDC shown that very same site to a copper I know and he's still adamant that you need a reason to carry any form of knife without exemption.......but he Carrys a lock knife off duty because "I might need the seatbelt cutter off duty so that justifies it"
Got one coming, really excited for it. I lusted after the Luna ever since it was announced in the more expensive variants - this version in red was something I just could not pass up. Cheers mate!
You're more than welcome. Glad I could have been a service. I think I need to pay more attention to the Heinnie site and grab stuff early to help everyone else make a decision. Think I'll pick up a Boker Rocket next. Thanks for watching and commenting 👌👍
After this corona virus thing we have made it a point in our home to not buy Chinese even though it cost us little more. That said I still own the Real Steel Puukko and it’s been a damn fine knife in my rotation for a couple of years. So they do seem to make some quality pieces.
In all fairness, I didn't even look at where it was manufactured. I think like a lot of things, budget is always an issue for a lot of people. It's hard to discount some stuff coming out of China and South East Asia when it's great quality gear. It's definitely an EDC conundrum for sure 😊 thanks again for watching and commenting 👍
ha ha ha... I'll start doing some budget Ali Express videos... although, that might be an idea right there. I search for EDC on Ali Express and buy the top 5 items to review 😂
Nice sleek looking knife. Love seeing more and more UK reviewers, great video thanks for sharing 👍

I love my Luna. Really nice bit of kit for the money. I put a thumb stud on it and now it has one handed opening it’s an absolute dream!
I've seena few with thumb studs and it's a no brainer. Should be getting one soon for sure. Thanks for commenting buddy, have a great week
You can buy thumb studs on ebay that screw into that nail grove. Makes it 1000 times better in my opinion with the one hand opening
Hi Harlee. I've seen quite a few people in Insta with the thumb studs. Everytime I see one I think "I need to get one of those" 🤣 they do look good with them. I hope you're having a great weekend 👍

How stiff would you say the CF version is? I worry it might allow the pivot to flex or something if you were chopping bits of wood of something?
Hey there I was wondering if this is still uk legal to take in public to get to and from work
Yes, this is a UK knife law friendly knife
Finally got one, obviously it’s the new version with the black blade. Can you recommend a thumb stud so it’s easier to open with one hand?

is this classed as a zombie knife? it has a skull on it which represents violence?
Yep. The read is the exact same colour as the blood as it leaves the heart. Its elegant and brutal, all in one 😂
No, it has to be luminous green and at least one skull silly.
I was told it was the thrusting length, so tip to guard when measuring legal length, but I guess your method would almost always be less than that.
