      @ccgaming319, that sounds like a great price in the current market. Unfortunately, I've not seen mine since 2015. Still in the garage in Florida though.

      @@gtd65 that's awesome that you still got it though. This is definitely a bike I plan on keeping for my kids. I do have a few questions if you don't mind because as you said finding parts are impossible lol I need a speedometer and was curious as to if you had any issues with the bike I should prepare for and how you went about fixing them.

      @@ccgaming319 The only issues that I had with the bike were related to it sitting for a number of years. The carbs were in a bit of a state but cleaned up well with Walmart's finest (read cheap) carb cleaner, Battery was also replaced too. Had to source a couple of bolts for the rear fender at Lowes I think? Thankfully there really wasn't any other issues that I can recall, which required sourcing parts. There's a website which might be of come use here; www.thegsresources.com/

      @@ccgaming319 I'm guessing that there will be some overlap with the more common GS450 manual geared bikes and any of the close cousins?

    Unlike the Hondamatic counterparts, the GS450A is actually extremely rare to find, what a good find! I hope you don't let this go easily!

      @gtd65  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, it is a nice looking little machine. Unfortunately, I've never actually touched the bike since the first week of January 2016. I went back over to the USA, from the UK, at the end of March 2016 and was denied entry, detained then put on the next available flight out! Didn't do anything wrong whatsoever but they came to the completely ludicrous conclusion that I was attempting to illegally immigrate to the USA for employment!
      What's more difficult, is that since then I've been refused a visa on four occasions now and subsequently unable to visit my us citizen children.
      It's like being in an episode of the Twilight Zone!

    • @SkyeRocket
      @SkyeRocket 4 года назад +1

      Oh no, what an ordeal :( I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope they clear you so you're able to visit them soon! Everyone deserves to see their kids. When you're in better straits, let me know if you're ever willing to part with the Suzukimatic as well!

      @@SkyeRocket Yeah it's a strange one indeed. I've been trying to find out more about how to resolve my travel issue but it's kind of similar to the Little Britain ,"computer says no!" comedy sketches. My ex and the kids are going to be looking into what can be done from their side (she's now with somebody else, so it's not like she's going to be popping over to Scotland with the kids to visit) I'll probably end up shipping the bike back to the UK at some point, in a crate, if that's economically viable but that's a much lower priority for me at this point in time. If it wasn't for having kids, I wouldn't really mind, been to 40 of the contiguous 48 states and close to 70 countries. Time will tell how it all pans out...

    Ball bearings may be from accelerator pump check valves. They have tiny circlips and a cylindrical weight to hold them down... someone may have disassembled them and lost the other parts.

    • @gtd65
      @gtd65  6 лет назад

      Yeah, I can't say I noticed any tiny circlips but on the plus side the bike does appear to run perfectly without them installed.

      Motor Steve i owned one of these a few years ago and it was really hard to find parts because it was not a very popular model. I had some luck with some online motorcycle oem parts sellers, but a lot of the parts particular to this model were out of stock.

    Hey there, the bike looks excellent. I have one of these I picked up recently I am going over and its been a real challenge with parts and such but she runs. Would you be able to give me some pointers on some things as there are no forums I can find on this bike.

    • @gtd65
      @gtd65  6 лет назад

      I used the gsresouces forum for some information, probably about the best option out there. With this bike I just had to service it - the carbs were totally gunked up solid with fuel sludge and residue. Luckily a few tins of Walmart's finest carb cleaner took care of almost all of it. Picked up a set of o-rings from harbor freight. Had to clean the front fork seals out with a piece of S shaped plastic from a 1 gallon milk jug. Then changed the oil/filter and the plugs and she was good to go. Still needs new tyres as it's still on the originals. Also had to get a new battery as the original was toast.
      What sort of things are you needing pointers on? I'm no expert on the GS450GA just a hobby mechanic when a problem needs taken care of :)

      I really appreciate the response! From the sound of it, outside of the forks our bikes sound similar. I have replaced the battery, cleaned carbs (very dirty) used an ultrasonic cleaner. New filter, new oil and filter, choke is a little funny though. Cannot seem to get the slide from sticking even after cleaning and lubing up the slide and cable. My question for you is I know there are 4 breather hoses connected to the carb..you have the main fuel line to the carbs to the petcock, then you have a "vacuum or return hose" from the same petcock to carbs, then you have a longer drain hose that runs under the bike as a "run off" but I am confused there is 1 other hose left that is much shorter and doesnt appear to go to anything, is this another breather/over flow hose? I have just come across that GSResources page as well. It has been very helpful!! Again, beautiful bike!

      They are the float bowl vents. Important they are not obstructed and free. Mine are routed over the air cleaner box and to the right, under the tool kit mounting bracket

      Cheers! :) I found it on the local craigslist site, just a lucky find I guess really, as I never usually find anything worth buying on it at a decent price! What really sold this bike for me was the bog standard condition. That made me take a chance on the non-starting machine, that couldn't be heard running.
