We need to work together to make the Church breathe with two lungs again. Orthodox nations are Russia Serbia Romania Georgia Bulgaria and so many others in Japan in Africa etc. the Roman Church fell in heresy considering the Pope as a person who can not make errors and is representing Christ on earth. Orthodoxy doesn't consider any man either he is bishop or simple person as someone who is protected from fall. They had Patriarchs who were heretics. Orthodoxy follow Jesus Christ not a person

its funny how we always undermine the need for leadership even after the numerous parables Christ told concerning Shepherd and flock and how Peter was supposed to feed His sheep. This leadership handed down generations is taught directly by God. The infallibility isnt attributed to the man as much as it is to the office he holds. The concept of infallibility stems from the Church's trust in Spirit of God to teach the Church ALL things.

The fullness of the faith and the richness of orthodoxy is overwhelming!
I’m realizing that along with this fullness, also comes more responsibility.
“But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.”

Were there an Orthodox Church in my small town, I would become Orthodox. Every time I am in my Catholic Church, I feel there is something missing. I actually feel sorry for everyone there. I believe it is that for the first 1000 years of the Christian Church, there was one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Then one part of this Church separated, and became its own Church. There is no possibility that God would give an equal amount of Grace to an organization that divided the one Church. No possibility.

It is a political + sets of moral laws combo , made directly by the ruling political authority with an effort to unify a large space of mess. Keep in mind that at those days, Roman Empires was so huge, that similar to today is like it expanded till Mars. It is also the most old , non stop organization of the west. Finally in its core it carries democrasy , as there is no absolute power priest like the Pope, but a Council of priests.

    • @100mexk
      @100mexk 23 дня назад

Technically, all you have to do is believe and god will know it even if you dont show it and thus you shall be saved. Even having commited horrible sins, as was proven when Jesus forgave one of the 2 people that were crucified with him and told him he is going to his kingdom with him, after the man professed his faith to him. On the contrary, even if all you do is "acts of faith", praying all day long without your heart being in it, and doing everything in general that you are "supposed" to do, god will again now that you meant none of it. So to come back to what you said, I dont think scripture has anything to do with it. Its mostly about your own intent.

Jesus' whole point was proving that sticking to the law of the 10 commandments like the pharisees wasnt actually believing. And of course each and evey one of us is responsible for our salvation and/or destiny, since its our choice if we live according to the will of jesus. Being a kind soul that does no evil isnt confined by rules of a book. Yes the Bible isnt "just a book", but its still a book. I recommend everyone to read Orthodox texts, specially from Russian monks. Ull feel love, wisdom and child like purity. Orthodoxy is all about love and very personal relationship with Lord. Our churches are not fancy, filled with gold and glitter, as the whole experience of faith is inner, the emphasis is on the inner, on spiritual, not material. The West, unfortunately, declared material as the only reality, the only important aspect of human existence. I hope the West will turn back to whats important and meaningful, and stop confusing terms like freedom for beings reckless or self destructive. Love from Serbia ❤️

Except for the fact that there are Catholics that are also picking up their cross and walking with Jesus daily as we are taught . See , there are valid sacraments in the Greek Orthodox Church which is why many Orthodox feel that they are in the correct denomination , however, the full truth is with the Catholic Church.

The orthodox Church is not a denomination. It's the trunk. We didn't choose the name orthodox in 1054. It was defined by saint pope of Rome Leo II in 810AD when the new emperor of the West, Charlemagne send him a delegation to request the addition of the filioque to the Nicene creed.
This was obviously a political move because such an unilateral change would end up in a schism between Rome and the rest of the Church, and will give Charlemagne a greater control over the West.
Fortunately we still have the minutes of the meeting. saint pope Leo told the delegation that he had not such power (no pontifical monarchy yet) . Then he nailed two silver shields on the doors of his basilica with the unaltered Nicene creed (without the filioque) engraved in Greek and in Latin and the following sentence : I LEO DID THIS FOR THE SAKE AND LOVE OF THE ORTHODOX FAITH.
The filioque dispute continued between the Carolingian dynasty and the orthodox popes of Rome until the 8th ecumenical council of 880 in Constantinople anathematized anyone who dares to add or remove anything to or from the Nicene creed.
This canon was validated by saint pope John VIII who was murdered shortly afterwards in 882 with a hammer. A warhammer. The kind of weapon the Germans used.
Rome fell in total chaos as Italian and German princes fought over the chair of Peter. Meanwhile the Carolingian dynasty went extinct. Finally the Germans took control of the papacy when pope Benedict VIII was expelled from Rome and asked the king of Bavarian Henry to help him. Henry marched on Rome and restored Benedict VIII.
On February 14 1014 Benedict celebrated in Rome the coronation of Henry II as "Holy Roman Germanic emperor" and for the first time in history added the filioque to the recitation of the creed by a pope of Rome. (1000 years later exactly, Benedict XVI resigned)
The Germans started to impose German popes, the second of which was the count Bruno von Egisheim-Dagsburg, who became pope Leo IX in 1050. Bruno was a descendant of Charlemagne and he claimed the imperial insignia for himself, constituted an official pontifical state, created a senate (assembly of cardinals) wearing the colors of the Senators of the Roman empire, and appointed a chancellor, the infamous Humbert de Mouyenmoutiers who will provoke the schism in 1054 after the death of Leo IX. But before that Leo IX invaded Sicily with his army to attack the Normans. Sicily was a byzantine province still. Leo ordered the local bishops to drop the Byzantine rite in favor of the Latin mass. The bishops asked the Patriarch of Constantinople Michel Cerularios what to do and Michel told them to ignore Leo's request. This infuriated Leo IX who wrote a letter to Michel claiming universal jurisdiction over the entirety of the Church based on the Donation of Constantin. This was a forged imperial decree by which Constantin the Great allegedly transferred the imperial insignia of Rome to pope Sylvester. A forgery created to justify the coronation of Charlemagne in 800AD. Leo IX was defeated by the Normans at the battle of Civitate and became their hostage until 1053 and died just after being released. Meanwhile Humbert, who was ruling the pontifical state alone was traveling to Constantinople in order to receive official recognition of the newborn pontifical state by the Eastern Emperor. The state meeting when smoothly but Humbert delivered also an insulting letter to Michel in which the (dead) pope Leo IX accused the Patriarch to be a woman in drag. A common accusation among the Frankish-Germanic culture was to consider the orthodox Christians as effeminate because they rejected brutality in the spiritual affairs. In 1075 Dictatus Papae gave the direction for the Gregorian reformation by proclaiming :
That the Roman pontiff alone is called universal by right. (= Donation of Constantine as confirmed in the following proclamations)
That he alone can use the imperial insignia.
That all princes are to kiss the feet of the pope alone.
That his sentence ought to be retracted by no one and that he alone can retract that of all.
That he himself must be judged by no one.
That the Roman church has never erred nor will ever err in perpetuity, as scripture testifies.(?)
Not that the universality is liked to the imperial religious title "Pontifex Maximus" inherited from Constantine by the forged donation and the universality of the Church is linked to her Romanity.
Roman Catholicism was born and all the orthodox aspects of the religion whill be removed. The sign of the cross changed, the rites changed, the dogma of salvation by submission to the Roman Pontiff added in 1302.
There was a last point though : The 8th ecumenical council anathematized the addition of the filioque. I will explain how it was nullified in another post.

As I explained the 8th ecumenical council hold in Constantinople in 879-880 anathematized anyone who dares to modify the creed. And this council was validated by saint pope John VIII who was afterwards murdered with a hammer. After the schism, the name of John VIII was removed from the list of the popes and his acts invalidated. Rome rejected the 8th ecumenical council and does not count it among the ecumeniacal councils till this day.
Why was John VII erased? Here is the official explanation given by the biography of the popes vritten by the prefect of the Vatican Library in 1479 :
_Pope John VIII: John, of English extraction, was born at Mentz (Mainz) and is said to have arrived at popedom by evil art; for disguising herself like a man, whereas she was a woman, she went when young with her paramour, a learned man, to Athens, and made such progress in learning under the professors there that, coming to Rome, she met with few that could equal, much less go beyond her, even in the knowledge of the scriptures; and by her learned and ingenious readings and disputations, she acquired so great respect and authority that upon the death of Pope Leo IV (as Martin says) by common consent she was chosen pope in his room. As she was going to the Lateran Church between the Colossean Theatre (so called from Nero's Colossus) and St. Clement's her travail came upon her, and she died upon the place, having sat two years, one month, and four days, and was buried there without any pomp._
So John VIII was a woman in drag, exactly the same defamation used by Humbert de Moyenmouthier in 1054 against the Patriarch of Constantinople Michel Cerularios.
After the Protestants weaponized the affair, Pope Clement VIII declared the legend of the female pope to be untrue in 1601. Nevertheless John VII was not canonized by Rome and is a saint martyr of the orthodox faith only in the eastern Church. The 8th ecumenical council of 880 was not recognised as valid despite re restoration of John VIII who validated its canons.
In 1995 John Paul II asked the publication of the following clarification concerning the filioque :
_The Catholic Church acknowledges the conciliar, ecumenical, normative and irrevocable value, as expression of the one common faith of the Church and of all Christians, of the Symbol professed in Greek at Constantinople in 381 by the Second Ecumenical Council. No profession of faith peculiar to a particular liturgical tradition can contradict this expression of the faith taught and professed by the undivided Church._
The universal Church is the one professing the universal creed. That is the Orthodox Church.

"the full truth is with the Catholic Church": that statement is self-willed delusion. Neither Magisterium-faithful RC's nor Protestants offer a cure for the nous. Hope_Boat's command of history is also on display in Fr. John Romanides's Patristic Theology, along with an elucidation of this significant theological difference.

I have found Catholism teaches carrying your cross. All the things Mr. Peterson is saying about Orthodoxy is true also about The Catholic Church.
I agree many in Protestanism and cafeteria " catholics " do not.
Many modernists Catholic Priests are not teaching the True Faith.
Alot of error has occured in the
    Catholic carismatic movement
    Likened to Protestanism.

One of the main differences is that in Orthodox Christianity you don't have to deny, or to put it in the other word, fight the human part of your being. We people are imperfect by any means, we have our needs and instincts, flaws and virtues that are part of us whether we want it or not. You can fight whole your life to be different than that and still you fail. No amount of worshipping, praying would change that. Only thing you need to do is to is to be better man than you've been yesterday to keep in mind that carrying your cross now, and making right joices would be ultimately rewarding for your soul.

There is one beautiful image in the Bible that is rarely remembered - it is lost behind other images that are much more resonant and colorful. Elijah, the great prophet, in a difficult time for himself, when the Israelites persecuted him and worshiped idols, asked the Lord to appear to him. The answer he received was: “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, and, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, the breath of a quiet wind , and the Lord was there.”

It’s not just how we are the oldest and purest. Let me say this… through my work I deal with some Shiite muslims and this is how they see us Orthodox Christians, they admit we are the most understanding, most patient, most tolerant and we never start conflict. When world matters happen especially if there is a clash of religions they always ask me what do I think on this topic happening right now and they always say yeah you’re right ( my opinion) . They also say all orthodox Christians think the same. Their imans are modeled off our priests and bishops in regard to a facial appearance, clothing and approach the allow marriage. They also admit that the hijab was inspired by our Orthodox Christian nuns. Think about how far back we go and look at us now, we haven’t changed because why… we are true and devout to our beliefs and to our beloved God and saviour through the history of mankind. ☦️💟🇦🇺🇲🇰
