Dr. Garvin Cummings, Chief Hydrometeorological Officer at the Hydrometeorological Service in Guyana, explains that while Small Island Developing States may be far from the poles and glaciers, we live in a connected world. What happens in one part of the world affects us in another.
Cryosphere includes the components of the Earth System at and below the land and ocean surface that are frozen, including snow cover, glaciers, ice sheets, ice shelves, icebergs, sea ice, lake ice, river ice, permafrost, and seasonally frozen ground, and solid precipitation.
