My favourite this time: the Marina Coupé - marvellous! Thanks for the pictures, Ian. You and the all the other people who take their cars out in such weather conditions are real heroes...
Hats off to all those who braved the wet weather and to you for filming in it. I personally quite like such weather but know it can be a real pain for most. That front engined Skoda 130 is a rare beast. I've only known pre-Felicia models to be rear engined.
Lovely post Ian. In the first minute or so, you pointed out a Mini in what looked like Autumn Gold. This has sad conntoations for me. I first met my partner Pat in October 1982, we were together for 41 years until she passed in July 2023. When we first met, via a mutual friend, she was driving a Mini the same colour, an L reg (1972) one with index number LMO 3XXL, I couldn't remember the last two digits. However, using the DVLA/MOT website, I was able to find the only Mini in that colour between 300 and 399 was LMO 359L. She'd christened the car Little Mo, we had it for around 2 years more before the gearbox gave up the ghost,a bit later she had a Mini Clubman Estate, nowadays an extremely rare car.
'74 thru late 70s Chevy Monte Carlo in that 1st minute to answer Ian's "What is that Americana?" Note half length vinyl roof. With the 55 limit came the End Of Muscle and the beginning of Personal Luxury Coupes, perfectly illustrated here. Velour interior l daresay!!!
The last possible year would be 1977. GM introduced the downsized G-body cars in 1978, including the Monte Carlo. The 1978 looked a lot better, in my opinion 😊
Some cracking cars regardless of the weather and many thanks Ian for a valiant attempt to cover it where need for an aqualung might have been needed in parts. I do like that Marina Coupe, yes the proportions might look odd but in a single body colour (not in the show) you don't notice it quite as much. Many thanks for sharing.
Blimey, I've never seen so many Mustangs in a Hub Nut video! The Mustang II (1974-1978) has got to be the "Hub Nut" of Mustangs, despite selling brilliantly (1974 was the 4th highest sales year for Mustangs to date!) it's shunned by many so called enthusiasts. Me? I love 'em, but I love an underdog. I've got 2 S197s (5th gen) Mustangs, but that red one in your video was gorgeous! Shame about the rain, but thanks for the video!
Nice event! Your phone should be pretty water resistant, but maybe get one of those transparant umbrellas they use on tv, they dont interfere with lighting
First Car is a '76/'77 Monte Carlo. 76 and 77 were the last year for the Square Halogen Light Bulbs while 1973 through 75 Monte Carlos have the Round Power Beam Headlights and these are referred to as the "Gothic Monte's." 1977 was the last year for these full size Monte's as they were downsized for '78. I've got about 26 of these 73/77's and 33 of the 1970/72 Monte's and 12 of the 1978-80 Cars. Along with hundreds of Doors Fenders Bumpers, ect. It's a habit 😮🤪. The Buick LeSabre dates from 1974/75. I've got couple... about 7(?) Laying around. The Mustang II WAS sold in RHD form in the UK basically from 74/78. All Models were offered except the Cobra/ Cobra II. I've got a few laying around here....😅.
That particular body style of Monte -Carlo was 1973 to 1977, in 1978 they shrink-sized them, and were trying to be more fuel efficient. My personal favorites were the 1970 to 72 Monte-Carlos. cleaner lines and high compression Engines. The Mustang 2's (1974-1978) were under-powered, and a tad pokey with the 4 or 6 cylinder variants. The 5 liter V8 was alright, but barely. (Low Compression engines) Cheers Ian ....Hope it stays dry for you!
One year the remnants of a tropical storm came through the AACA national meet (Hershey). This was when the flea market was still on grass with dirt rows, though the show field was paved, now it’s the opposite!. Saw a 1928 Rolls touring car spinning out in mud, a Lamborghini sunk up to its front spoiler, and motor homes being pulled out with farm tractors.
A shame I missed the event, I live in north Manchester, so not too far to travel. There's always next year though, God willing. The dark green Minor, with that colour, might have been an ex Forces/MOD one, a firm I once worked at did work for the MOD/ROF and their inspector used to come from Chorley to check our test methods. He drove one in a similar colour (this was in early 1977). The reg is a 1967/8 one, MA is a local Cheshire registration. BTW, it's Buick Le Sabre (pronounced saber), until recently, still a model made in the US. Seeing the Skoda reminds me of my time in Kings Lynn, 1973/4, when ships would come into the docks, with the Skodas loaded on the decks, in clear view, exposed to the elements. What a shame the weather was so poor, this summer has been a bit of a washout, with much higher than normal rainfall.
Ha yes a very soggy day, on our doorstep (almost) but didn't get to it this time. We spotted that GS estate late in the afternoon near Whitchurch, we thought it might have been to the show
Nice cars, very wet weather. My previous phone was pretty touchy about water, once it was snowing wet type of snow, some of it went to the screen and it just decided to shut off, refusing to start again until I removed the battery for a while. Luckily it was possible in that phone, but no longer in my current phone.
Wow, what amazing cars. British weather....Shame. But otherwise such a lovely event. Only one issue....I want to see more of the E type jaguar 😢😢😢 The most beautiful car ever... Don't worry, Citroen DS shares that status as well. 😊
Things seem to have gone all boat their but that's why we have you to carry on regardless with the show report. Hopefully all the lovely cars got out on to tarmac without to much of a problem.
Went to a car show about 6 or 7 years ago and it was in July, beautiful warm sunny day. Cream Teas and Ice Cream being enjoyed and about 10 or so cars with no hoods. Within about 5 minutes a thunderstorm came, heavy rain high winds. The tea tent was blown over, gazebos covering some of the cars took off. It was horrendous!.
6:57 it's a Ford LTD Crown Victoria (1982-1987, based on the grille). They were police cars, government cars, taxi cabs, and old people cars in their time 😅. They were also available in a station wagon...
Isn't that just British autumn weather? :D Kidding aside, such a shame it went that wet. As a recovering Fast Fordist, I like that you refrain from lingering on them. 👍
Well that's one way to test the efficacy of rustproofing on peoples' cars, drive into a field, get utterly soaked, and hope to not hear the fizz of dissolving steel... :P
Kind of wish I'd gone again but kind of glad I did it truly was an awful weather day locally that day I just hid inside the boat and moved the next day 😂
No better the following week at Trentham Gardens either. At least I'd sealed the sunroof up for that one, so no extra shower driving home early again. Onwards to Rustival now, and the forecast is currently pretty good.....but they did say that a week before Choldmondeley too I hasten to add.
Back in the 1970's my school mates dad used to buy and sell second hand CF vans they always looked tidy on the outside but the the inside you could always see the road and he would always fit bench seats for the kids, these was wooden and I have used the same style construction for shelves in the wife's green house, They worked perfectly no seat belts require the splinters in your bum held you there !
I was at a BBQ on that day about 20 miles away and I can confirm it was wetter than an Otters pocket. It just didn't let up all day. Shame as it was dry & sunny every day either side of the event!
I was at this show and found a funny noise a few days later. On investigation the front wing was loose as the mount had rusted away. The car in question? 2011 Focus.
The reason our club no longer does a meet, if it's raining, nobody shows up and you still have to pay the costs (about 15k here)😢 Like your comment " lovely day that it...... isn't 😂👍🇮🇪
1977 Chevy monte carlo. Also was that James mays triumph stag in the very beginning. How come the mustang 2 did not do well there. Looks like it’s meant for the roads there.
I hate it when the weather turns to bad at any outdoor event. I have been to some motor racing events and the rain has ruined both the racing and the event itself.
Ideal weather for windscreen wiper tests 👍
Feeling sorry for the organisers and exhibitors when the weather is this rough .
Me too. 😢
Your sacrifice for our entertainment has not gone unnoticed.
Crazy event, some fantastic cars there, guge respect to everyone for joining in, including of course your good self.
My favourite this time: the Marina Coupé - marvellous! Thanks for the pictures, Ian. You and the all the other people who take their cars out in such weather conditions are real heroes...

The front engined Skoda was rear engined when it left the factory.
@@HubNut so a user modification. Fascinating stuff. 👍
It was built by the owner and has Audi TT 4 wheel drive and engine, used as his daily

First year was '73. ---Sold 300k in the first year alone.
Horrendous conditions. Thanks for filming as much as you could
Absolutely brilliant video ian ❤👍 what a fantastic collection of cars pity about the rain but doesn't dampen the mood of the event brilliant
Look at all those portaloos!
Cracking selection of cars!
My memories of living in Britain during the 80s were that it was always raining, good to see those cars preserved.
a bit of rain does no harm at all., great video and fun weather. You need to get more mad.
Love that HA & the 914, Both my fave classics
What a pity about the weather ☔️ for the organisers . Thanks for the video 👍👍👍

that was a nice day and to top it all an black XR4X4 in the rain 4king nice right at the end
Excellent timing to have RUSTival not long after a very wet 1000 Classics
Let's hope that's us done with rain...

That was brave enough, covering a show in sandals while it's pouring down!
Typical British summer
another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt 👍
Really enjoyed that Ian, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing Rustival 2. 😊👍
Nice event! Your phone should be pretty water resistant, but maybe get one of those transparant umbrellas they use on tv, they dont interfere with lighting
Saq this described yesterday as the "blink and you missed it summer" - very apt
Well done to the organisers for keeping going aswell.
Half car show, half Bob Dylan concert in the rain. A depressing day for all involved.
Shame about the weather but looks like a great show with a great variety of cars on display.
Bad weather, great selection of cars though. Many of them have been never seen in my country. Greetings from Mexico City.

I'm looking forward to Rustival
Nice cars 🥰
Such a shame about the poor weather, but a sterling job with the video nonetheless. Much appreciated.

Ha, I went to a cars and coffee meet just a few miles from Cholmondley that day. I can confirm that it was indeed very very wet!
Toyoglide in blue. Nice.

The cars look good in the overcast background.
Take your hats off to the people that turned out………..or maybe keep them on!
I seen you the the tele yesterday with TUK on the motorbike show with Henry cole!!
Aww that poor Marina sat on its own in the rain...!
Hi all, I was there despite the forecast in my Fiat Ulysse. Bloody rain, when it started it never stopped!
That was very wet 😮,hope everyone got home alright
You can't always be lucky with the weather.
That Skoda 130 is interesting.
The red American car is a 'Buick Riviera' Ian. Aussie Graham.

I do like a Crown, the estate & coupe are the favoured body styles.
Felt damp watching that! Was that a Lotus Carlton towards the end?....
Would love to see you do a test on the Cavalier Mk1

When the other 2cc came in did you think? I wonder if they photographed that one 😂

I seem to remember a show where you were "pup tent" camping out of Elly, that was awfully wet.
(1)
Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it was Elly or TWK. It was quite some time ago.
Rather wet Ian but some lovely cars. The Zephyr estate was lovely.
Definitely xr4i preferred to the Cossie. I do like a V6 sound.
The FBI Men in Black car is a Ford LTD Crown Victoria, approx 1987 or so.
Let’s hope the weather in Gaydon on the 28th is better 🤞🙏
Hope so too, I’m at that one!
Oh yes, THAT DAY. 🌧🙄
I was at Loton Park and it rained ALL DAY! ☹️
When I got back home to London, I found it had hardly rained at all there.
Isn't that just British autumn weather? :D
Kidding aside, such a shame it went that wet.
As a recovering Fast Fordist, I like that you refrain from lingering on them. 👍
That's an event in the diary for next year
Was this Sunday truck fest at Cheshire show ground Sunday got was minging. Then we’ve had a glorious week
Well that's one way to test the efficacy of rustproofing on peoples' cars, drive into a field, get utterly soaked, and hope to not hear the fizz of dissolving steel... :P
Kind of wish I'd gone again but kind of glad I did it truly was an awful weather day locally that day I just hid inside the boat and moved the next day 😂
Great turnout but is music really necessary at a car show, imo no.

British bloody weather, you just can never rely on it.

Shame as it was dry & sunny every day either side of the event!
You bought the Welsh weather with you
What a shame, some nice machines there.
A bit like the Southwest Monsoon here in the Philippines, Ian. Not the ideal weather for a car show...
Manually walk round: so that'll be handstands then 🙃
Some of these cars I didn't even now about until now. Btw I don't want to imagine the damage if a hailstorm occured at such an event.
7:05 Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier van 😊
I bet you could hear the Triumphs and MGBs rusting as you walked past them.
I was at this show and found a funny noise a few days later. On investigation the front wing was loose as the mount had rusted away. The car in question? 2011 Focus.
Got there bang on 10, left at 11. No stalls or Auto jumble like they used to have, such a shame.
What a shame... dreadful weather...it did look as if it could have been a cracking show ..thanks for trying anyway 👍
:50 looks like Late 70's Chevy Monte Carlo... hope you didn't get a copyright claim on the noise.... 6:52 was pronounced La-sa-ber (2nd a long) SPLASH
Jesus boots FTW! 😁👍
Too many beautiful cars to mention.Really was a shame about the weather
Which car did you bring Ian?
Berlingo.
The grey Skoda Has an Audi 1.8 Turbo & 4wd from an TT
The reason our club no longer does a meet, if it's raining, nobody shows up and you still have to pay the costs (about 15k here)😢
Like your comment " lovely day that it...... isn't 😂👍🇮🇪
Rain rain go away come back another day
AY UP MR HUBNUT
You should have borrowed Mini Hubnut's wellies
1976-77 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landau, pulling in at 0:50 seconds.
02:50 you didnt take a look at the yellow 2024 Landcruiser parked next to the portaloos
That was a second generation Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Chevrolet Monte Carlo!
Wen was this recorded cos last 4 days in manchester has been better than summer was
A week and a half ago. Lovely here in Wales too!
1977 Chevy monte carlo. Also was that James mays triumph stag in the very beginning. How come the mustang 2 did not do well there. Looks like it’s meant for the roads there.
You should be fine with rain as you come from Wales lol.
Ian, I think I asked before, but what you use to hold your camera?
Often I just hand hold. This time I think I used a cheap selfie stick that can also be a tripod that I bought on eBay.
@@HubNut thanks bud. See you Saturday 😎
