No joke, that was me coming out on track and giving the point by at 7:50 in the STi!!! My car's on Speed Academy!!!
Hell yeah! Nice car
Thanks for having a clue about giving a point by!
@@JordanDecarie25 Seeing a car come up fast in my mirrors means they're going faster than me. I've been the guy being held up plenty of times. Let them by!
thanks and for not messing Up audio, lol
"Hi guys, so today we're going to be looking at these two tyres, this one over here is_"
*BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
"_and this one over here will probably be more_"
*BRRRR-BRRRR-BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!
"So now we've done the first set let's talk about the_"
*SCCCRRRRRRRRRRRRR! (jacks getting moved around)
Looks like they filmed on the day that GTA Exotics showed up. I spied their dodge cop car in the back there!
Steve Mitchell yup, the talent should be close mic-ed.
I'd love to see a video with some of the super 200's (RE71R, Rivals S 1.5) vs. some of the classic track tires (R888R, RR, NT01 etc.)
RE71R's are my go to for the track
RE-71s are about 0.5 seconds faster than NT-01s for 2 hotlaps on a 2minute/lap track config before they get greasy. They're good for setting a quick lap time or two, but not very good for consistency or longevity.
I'd also like to see a comparison video with some 200tw tires, specifically ones that will handle 20 minute lap sessions. (Hankook RS4, RE71R, Yokohama AD08R, Falken RT615K+, Dunlop Dirreza, etc)
great video as always, but that last 10 seconds was hilarious.
no one:
straight piped s2000: BRAAAAAAAAAPAPAPAPAAPA
10:40 +11:00 foot torque gauge for the win. BMW life!
Beeeep. Perfect amount of foot lb
LMAO I was going to comment on the non star pattern foot torque gauge!
I think if you guys made ur video titles more trendy/relevant without too much click bait, this channel would sky rocket. Content is just so good
Nitto NT05 has been my favorite dual purpose tire for a long time. Fun for daily driving and very respectable on the track.
I'm a personal fan of the Indy firehawk 500s (for the price)
It's funny that this video came about, I try to drift and so does my brother who has way more experience, he said the Nitto NT05 tires are good for drifting...those or Falken
I keep thinking the hood on the 350Z isn't latched. That front bumper with some great fitment lol!
Great video! I'm new to track days and bought a 2018 mustang gt premium this year. Finally had a chance to get it on the track about 10 days ago and had a blast. Yeah, learned about the stock all season Pirellis (320 tw) real quick. At least the squealing around corners was a good learning tool as to where the limits were.
Looking at a set of track day tires to swap on once I get to the track, and there's a couple 100 tw tires on the market that will fit including going to 305s on all corners. So very glad you compared these 2 Nittos, which answered pretty much all the questions I had.
coolers for trans, engine, and rear diff are needed. 3 yrs ago so I presume u found that out or just slowed down after burning a few quick ones...
I'm working my way up the DE ladder, but swapped out 300 TW for 100 TW's, and noticed a huge difference on my 350z. I think with this car in particular, it's important to have a squared setup to maximize grip. I don't keep track of my times yet, but I run Nexen sur4g's now and love them.
another informative video for the uninformed such as myself thank you guys for always dropping jewels for us!
Wish I could get Nittos in the UK! Also great videos guys, love the content 🙌
that the new snap on torque wrench the guys using on the bmw towards the end ? , need to get me one of them bad boys lol
🤣💀
They mesure by feet per inch, super accurate!
snap off torque wrench more like.
Love this channel even more now that I see you test on the same track I do! Thanks for sharing the lap times on the different tires, it really helps making a decision.
Great video. Idk why, but I really love these tire comparison videos. This really helps highlight the difference between a track and street tire.
Awww, are those sparks coming of the rotor/wheel at 8:08 ?
Brakepad
Pad compound, I know my BBK does similar. :)
Can you also run a tire test between street tires and snow tires on the track? Lot of tarmac rally and autocross guys use cheap winter tires as a cheater high tread wears.
I would of been interesting to here speed comparisons on the turns. Like how fast you can go around the different turns.
This is actually a very good vid, EXACTLY what I want to see, I know they will not let you compare to other track tyres for free (and you should disclaim if it is sponsored) but it is excellent. Kudos is warranted!
Subtitles needed because of that background noise o.O
Love that you are using the 350Z for testing. Its pretty much the most forgiving track car out there, especially on a nice square set up like the 275.
Love all the lovely car noises in the background
Man!!! DP dropping the F Bomb while on the track !!!! Nice tire comparison.when you do the RUclips challenge in the Miata that would be a great to let the drivers feel the difference between tires.
Love the outtro 😂!
Last few seconds, that's my weekday evening quote
Very underrated channel
Comparison test between the NT01, R888r and Nankang AR1's. Having run the AR1's now for 3 events and seeing consistently slow lap times it would be interesting to see the comparison to a known leader in the 100tw catagory.
AR1 is slightly more grippy than the nt01 but is much peakier. If your circuit doesn't have all high speed stuff the AR1 is faster but on more twisty technical stuff than a 595RSRR is the same pace.
Thank you thank you thank you. the two tires I've been waiting for reviews on. I'd love to see a review on the NT05 too.
Awesome tires!! Those sticky 100 treadwear tires did great! You guys should try out some federal tires.....
Had a friend accidentally buy racetrack suspension instead of sport suspension for an old 1990’s Honda Civic. Every single chicane, winter pothole, and road maintenance gravel rock hit different 😂. But still got 40+ mpg.
Still hoping for some 200tw comparisons. All of the ones I find are outdated as most tires have changed their compound since.
So you guys have given up on drifting? It would be cool to see you guys go to an event.
boofighter drifting is stupid bro sorry to tell you, u want traction not
Loose traction thats just dumb and juvenile
@@gigi9467 "Stop liking what i dont like"
Jenesis what??
Jenesis explain yourself my fellow ricer lol
@@gigi9467 calling drifting juvenile and stupid shows your lack of respect for all motorsports bb.
Great video! Love the end commentary, lol!
I don't remember the time I subscribed to this channel, but I've you guys have grown a lot. It's a great video as always, entertaining and very informative. But maybe its time for you guys to upgrade your video and sound equipment. I'm a videographer myself, so if you guys ever need an advice on what sound and video equipment to get, please let me know.
Cheers~
8:07 sparky brakes :)
Gibby's Garage Aah! I first tought that rim hits the ground 😬
I love what you guys do.
I love the fact that you keep your hands at 9 and 3 and don't move them all over the place. Other vids where people look like they're trying to swat a fly when turning the wheel annoy the f out of me. Good job, great video.
ALREADY SMASHED THE LIKE BUTTON!!
Do you know you are in a race track lol very informative. Awesome!
Awesome timing I’m needing to change the M3 tyres soon!
Best sound effect !!! ever (11:25)
Thank you 🙏. This was very informative.
you should do a uhp vs summer prefomance test! I would never consider 100 tw tires but just comprimised for the uhp this year for easier storage, and more confidence on dirty roads, plus tread life is plus. but I cant help but wonder what I will be losing on track.
I don't always rip tec in my Porsche but when I do I make sure cruise control is set and my arm is out the window so everyone can see my rolex.
Nice vid mate. What wheels are you running with the 555s? Looks awesome
So you're saying that the squeal is a result of having multiple, taller tread blocks and that the sound is not the sound of sliding/spinning butthe tires just starting to appreciably slip and that there's still more room between the start of the squealing and the outright limit?
Using the ol' RE-30's again I see. The racing tires would have been a better match with them imo but I'm glad to see you using those wheels again nonetheless. Now to refit that GT wing that came with the car when I sold it to you. I wager you can lose another 1/4 to 1/2 second.
Ha! We've been itching for the wing to make a comeback so you bet that will happen soon!
More difference than I expected
LMAO at the end where you were following that guy with hand out the window.
Love the ending, what are you doing? Do you know your'e on a racetrack?
200 tread wear shootout!!
I think I'll split the difference and get a set of NT05
the 320tw NT555 G2 is NOT the tire that Vaughn Gittin Jr runs, he uses a 200tw version of the same tire. A tire that might be made only for him and his teammate, cause I haven't been able to find it for sale anywhere.
Since when did so many people become directors ? You should do this
Why don’t you drift
I think you should drive more... that shit is annoying just enjoy the video this gave us really good information and different points of views I’m pretty sure lots of people never seen before thanks!
I do use semi-slicks myself. In the dry, they are a no brainier. Cost is fairly low, they grip well and are durable. Problem comes on cold, wet, track days. The semi-slicks can’t generate heat, grip and have a terrible aquaplaning problem. The road rubber can work in these conditions and specific, wet conditions rubber work even better. For me, there is no single go to tire for all track conditions.
yes... two sets of rims and tires more $$ & work... gotta love it
Now do a vid comparing a052 vs nt01 on the badass 2k
Which one would be more fun for a novice track day driver? Btw. Good video!
Hey guys,
Have you considered recording with a wireless Lav or even an external audio recorder and wired Lav?
good info & demo. Audio ???
What kinda actual monsters were behind you while you were talking? Lol
Right? Something was EATING the track:)
zopo_855olive 😂
the guy in the background with the BMW plans to snap a lug bolt.
Final review *insert rolling hydraulic jack rolling noise*
7:20 "that's what she said"
For me, the few times I done track racing I just have a stack of “cheap” 200 tread wear tires I purchased new… that being said though my best time on one track was on 500 tread wear street tires, I got curious how my regular tires would hold up and I did 2 laps on them and they gave me my best time… go figure. One issue I had was on 200s my rear would sometimes unhook in a fast corner… we guessed maybe wasn’t getting enough heat into the rear to hook/bite on greasier corners. The downsides of a sleeper wagon…
one lap wonder really doesn't count unless that's all u doing. there 200's and then super 2's a new great breed of their own
Sweet ... but the miata in the back around 👌😍
you should measure Gs in corners too, not only lap times.
What's up with the sparks at 8:07? Brake pads low? I'm shocked those AP racing brakes overheated so quickly.
HSB pad compound, my 6 piston kit does the same on track, regardless of heat
Great info. Thank you.
Annnnnnddddd, I just spat pop onto my shirt... thanks DP!
great video thanks!
which tires are the best for street racing ( Mexico) for a hellcat : Semi-slicks or Full Slicks
Nice vid guys
What is the front brake setup on that 350?....thanks
Great video, however, how do the NT01's compare to the Nankang's?
WHY no Nankang AR1 vs A052? 100 TW winner vs 200 TW winner. They posted the same lap time but on different cars
I like you guys a lot but this tyre comparison was slightly irrelevant. Everybody hopes that the semi outperforms the street tyre in the dry. It would be interesting in the wet but more relevant would be to compare different semis like you did before. Challenge the AR1 with those Nittos and the new Yokohama 52 :)
I'd like to see your guys opinion on the Firestone Indy 500's, they have a really good reviews on Tire Rack and are super cheap. I wonder if the stigma of Firestone is keeping these tires from being really popular or if they are just all hype.
Those are rebadged Bridgestones (RE003), but they are an older model now. There is a new Potenza RE004, that should perform close to the latest generation Potenzas (S007A, Sport, S005), which should probably come out as a Firestone version at some point. The RE003/Indy 500 is definitely a fun tyre to drive on, with stiff sidewalls, great response, and good feedback, but the grip is probably a step behind the latest road tyres like the Pilot Sport 4S or Potenza S007A.
What about wheel size (diameter)... Are 18” better than 17” all else (ie rubber) being similar?
I am out here in CA where we get zero rain so i am thinking of going with a track tire. I wont be on the track but i do drive twice a week in the canyons for a few hrs. i have narrowed it down to the continentals extreme contact force. What do you think? They will be for my 05 911
i know i am probably late but if you can get the nitto nt05 i would recommend them they are not as aggresive as the nto1 but i think in a good way especially for street. but they are recently discontinued so you might have to search a bit to find some
Now throw some sticker Hoosier R7's on and retest
Stickers add +10 hp per tire
Great video , would like to know the price difference between the two
Danistheman 905 you lazy bruh
What is a semi slick? Is it only R compound tyres or do things like Hankook RS4s, Ad08r, NS2Rs also fall into this category. I have had people say that they are a S spec tyre.
All you get is 5 laps on ap brakes?
Yeah wtf hey dave lol 😂 nt01 good tyre I run them 👍👍 315/35/17 on my first gen Celica
Why shall I not use track tires on the street?
Are NT01s stlil relevant? I know the design is getting a bit long in tooth. Just wondering.
Man, you gotta swap that 4 point harness for a 5 or 6 point or just keep using the 3 point cause those things a liability 😅😬
Nice!!
how do the semi slicks perform on the twisties on the road regarding getting temp/grip level - is it possible for them to feel less confidence inspiring than a 300 T wear tyre or is this simply not the case?
wonder how the nt555 g2 compare to the federal Evoluzion's
How much camber do you guys run on that setup on both tires?
Does this compare to the 100 treadwear laptimes on the frs? That test seemed a lot faster for some reason or another.
Never run super soft compounds on street suspension
Run soft up front and medium in the rear
I wouldn't be driving next to the guys torquing their wheels with their feet hahaha
I was there that day. They blew their motor. Heard the engine ticking badly when I was standing by the front straight. They didn't stop and kept going until blue smoke poured out. They looked confused when the car stopped working. Expensive lesson.
Big time hahahaha
11:29 Napoleon spotted. Goshhhhhh
Grip & rip!!
Budget tyre review. Do people actually use these?
Track Time Videos I have 3 sets of NT-01’s amazing tires. 1- set for my Audi S3 and 2- sets for m E30 race car. I’m about to get R888r’s for my M4 and track those. Maybe NT-01 Vs R888r vs RE-71r vs RSRR
@@BlakesGarage would be interesting to see a test. The R888R, A048 and AR1 would be my preferences of semi slicks.
For non competitive driving, it makes sense. But the more premium types usually benefit the slower cars and the guys that need to brag on track days =D
@@joshuad5324 what an odd thing to say. Nobody "brags" about tyres in the UK and people tend not to use budget rubber either with the exception of a few beginners.a
@@tracktimevideos5164 oddly I've ran into several people that slip in how much they've spent on this and that to someone that's just being able to get into the track.
And I remember myself running top three in a miata with 185 with ties that had + symbols for tread.
The point is the comment seemed negative.
Did you say zee?
Sorry guys, love you channel but I couldn't hear a word. You may want to reshoot the intro.
