He was a complete player, and at times even played point guard when needed. He did not have a weakness in his game, and had he not been such a difficult player for his teammates to get along with, he might well have been more respected.
Rick Barry was a walking bucket. Barry was a big time scorer and is one of the best passers at the small forward position along the lines of Larry Bird and LeBron James. He also led the NBA in steals the year he led the Warriors to the chip, 1974-75. He was also a great player in the ABA.
What I've noticed in tha past couple of years is that the young generation don't care about the history of the game. To know and understand where the league is, you've got to study your history...
Facts. 1 of my favorite players is and always will be pistol Pete. I was born in 93 ..never saw him play other than HISTORICAL VIDEOS. Like cmon guys everything ain't about shooting deep 3s lol 😂 I learned so much about the game from nba jam and nba Street.
A lot of younger players respect older players but you can’t expect them to have the same perspective as someone older who saw it live….and rules are different.
Rick Barry really should have been an MVP by the league’s standards considering how good he was but he really was just so unlikable during the PLAYER VOTED MVP award he wasn’t respected enough to earn it. One way to teach the kids to be good teammates: awards might be missing if you don’t lmao
You guys think you know the game. There is something about being 80 years old -- if you've loved the game for 70 yeas and have watched all the good and great players, you can appreciate Rick. Rick or KD? With some professional training, say counseling, I think I'd take Rick. So, is he 26 or 10? I don't really care. He was awesome.
This rating is an illustration of what's wrong with the project. You simply can't say Rick is 26 instead of 10. Small forward -- 3? Compare Rick and KD. It's a joke. Throw in Elgin. I love all these players -- well maybe love is the wrong word. Not just for Rick but for KD. But their game! That I love.
So 25 players left.I got 23.Maybe somebody can tell the other two players.I'll go by position in order that I think Nick will put them.KAREEM SHAQ HAKEEM MOSES ROBINSON DUNCAN GIANNIS MALONE GARNETT NOWITZKI BARKLEY LEBRON BIRD DURANT ERVING JORDAN KOBE WADE MAGIC CURRY ISIAH STOCKTON PAUL
Is it fair to compare Rick Barry to Jerry West?
Yes
For you young children...Rick Barry actually could play.
Love the guy.
So underrated, go watch his 64 pt game, he so cold
I used to not like Nick Wright and now he's literally my favorite sportscaster for maybe the past 4 years..lol
Man was a beast

Um that’s not just the young generation…
Barry was a beast dang I can't debate that and west wow 40 ppg
Barry ability to rebound and block sound tremendous
Are you counting Barry's first few years before Kareem rookie season (69-70)? I can't tell

Based on this list excluding pre-1970, Rick Barry should be around #18.
I think that's more accurate. But I'm a big fan and loved watching him play.
Underated

Yea he’s growing on me I didn’t like him because the Kobe and Jordan hate trying to prop up Lebron but that’s really the only take I disagree with
Same
