If your transmission is slipping in your Lexus IS250 or IS350 it's because the fluid is dirty and needs to be changed. This is an easy service that can be done at home and I will show you how to do it in todays video. IS250 AWD transmission service requires 3 quarts of Toyota ATFWS and rear wheel drive IS250 and IS350 only needs 2 quarts.

Currently at 469k miles on my 14 IS350 AWD on original fluid. She’s getting a little soft between shifts so I’m about to brave a fluid/filter change 😅
Jesus Christ I didn’t even know those numbers were possible
@@TheVidiotz yup. And with minimal repairs and with basically no maintenance 👍
I've noticed mine shifting weird and slipping lately sland uts got almost 209k on it mostly highway and will ve xhsnging the fluid but unfortunately at a stealership since I'm disabled but I'll buy my fluid ahead of time and bring it with me. It's not throwing any codes or anything so it has to be needing the fluid. Great video and its very informative.
Thanks for watching, glad to hear this video was helpful to you.
The transmission computer doesn't always throw codes that show up on the dashboard as I've discovered. My car got stuck in 3rd gear for a mile and my CHECK VSC and all that never came on, afterwards I used the same scanner he uses in this video and found there were codes for a stuck solenoid even though no dash lights came on. You might have codes that you don't even know about.
Love your set up in your garage. I pray I can have that one day! Great video! Got my daughter the same exact car.
BROTHER. IVE GOTTEN 314K PLUS WITHOUT CHANGING MINE. AND NOW I THINK MINE MAY BE DONE. SO PROPS TO YOU ITS GOING TO LAST WAYYYYY LONGER
That is very impressive to hear 314k on original fluids. Thanks for the comment!
You lucky man, mine has never been changed in the past 140K miles, P0894, P2714 has been popping up. Changed the filter, gasket, fluid twice, P2759 still showing up annoyingly. I m afraid i might have to change the SLU solenoid and the wiring harness, followed by a 3rd ATF drain and fill.
@@francisau8003yeah I’m having the same issue with code p2757; I’m gonna add seafoam then change fluid. If problem persist how do you know what solenoid is bad? Bc there’s and SLU and SLT and they’re really expensive I just want to do it once
bro im on 130ks (bought at 118kms) & just realized today there's a thing called Transmission fluid. FML I feel like a doofus but oh well, its my first car.
Yoooo WTF 314k ?!? Got damnnn! What car is it? Awd rwd year and have you had any major problems or problems in general in that time? And here i was stressing about getting to 200k in my 06 350 😂😂
Great video, I'm starting to have a little slip when taking off sometimes, will definitely be doing that this weekend. Thanks 👍
No problem 👍Glad my video is helpful to you. Good luck with the trans fluid exchange. I know you can do it.
Great video brother, helped us change the transmission oil in my sons Lexus. 1 is 250 and another is 350!! 🙏🏻
Awesome video, I feel like I can do it. Can you make a playlist with all your Lexus videos? I’ll be back for your coolant change.
Will do, but I have not done a coolant exchange vided yet. Will probably do that before this summer.
you can also use a cheap pump weed sprayer to pump the fluid in
Can you also do a video on differential fluid change ?
The only main killer of these cars is carbon build up, look into getting a catch can and whenever you redo the intake manifold gaskets clean up whatever carbon you seen inside the intake runners I did mine at around 170k felt a big difference in idle also replaced the pcv valve, other than that great cars, I'm at 200k on my awd and I love it
I called Lexus they said that the operation temp for the transmission is 210F…
How much fluid did you put back in after you drained her. Great video and clear guide.
The service manual shows to add 2 quarts on RWD and 3 quarts on AWD. So, I added 2 quarts to my car.
Thanks man. Lexus dashboard warn us if the engine oil is low but no dipstick or display for transmission fluid. Lame at least give us the dipstick. It just goes straight to CHECK VSC. Such a sweeping generalization.
Wow very good job bro thanks for your time
No problem 👍
Thumbs up and subscribed off of your daughter’s car. I’m 37 but have the same car.
That's awesome. Thanks for the sub, it is a nice car I also drove the IS250 for 1 year before giving to my daughter.
Thanks so much for posting this!
Your very welcome, glad it was helpful.
Thank you
You welcome, glad the video was helpful.
how bout the check VSC light? is it ok to just ignore it?
First of all I love the video, Hi I have a question, is it necessary only to use the Toyota fluid or I can use different type?
From the research I did the Toyota fluid was recommended. I thought the price for the Toyota fluid was fairly reasonable and so that's what I used. Hope your car shifts nice and smooth like ours when your done. Glad you found the video helpful.
@@JDMRightHandDrive well last time I change a solenoid I did noticed how dirty the fluid was, the mechanic not even recommend or talk about it, now that my car is driving little weird and watch your video, is something I’m going to do next time do little by little change and the fluid a few times, how many cans did it take to fill up the pan
Do I need to change the filter or just put new fluid?
Did you notice any slipping after you changed yours at first? Mine never slipped but it hesitated and felt rough and now that I changed it, it feels better but I got stability and transmission codes after and some slight slipping.
Edit: Codes went away but the slipping is still there. I'm going to have to get back under it and maybe throw some stop slip in with the mix. I think when I did this change the clutches were just too worn and losing some of the frictional content in the fluid made it worse. Worse comes to worse ill be putting a 6mt in mine.
The new fluid might have loosened some gunk accumulated over the years that then got stuck somewhere else until to flushed through and got caught by the filter.
were you able to fix it happened to me wondering about putting the anti slip fluid as well let me know
I got 160k used car so debating to do fluid flush or not. Seeing it’s 50/50 for people slippin after or not
What’s that check VSC light?
Great video! What was the crusher washer size for the leveling 5mm hex bolt?
I put a link in the video description for the crush washer kit I bought on Amazon. It has all the different sized you could ever need for only $15 or so. Thanks for watching, good question.
Where did you purchase your ramps ? Those look nice
Those are QuickJacks 5000 lift system amzn.to/3kg39yk
Well done brother. Excellent video.
I hate to tell you guys you must do it with it level or you can have incorrect fluid amount and issues later.
Hi subscribed as I have this car as well I noticed that for your video there was a bit of a hard time for you to put the shifter in gear, I am having the same issue all of a sudden and yesterday it was very hard to move through except for reverse so for a while I could only go into reverse. Are these some of the symptoms you had with your Daughters car? I am super afraid I have to replace the transmission as money is tight right now. I am checking out the oil change, temperature change and thermostats videos as well. Thanks,
You mind me asking did you pull the code? I don’t know which route to go. I guess I can go cheap and just replace the transmission fluid but if it has to do with the solenoid then I have to pay twice. I guess the new fluid will cool it off and that part is really not that serious?
I notice a leak by the heat exchanger/oil cooler? Any idea what it Can be
When you were letting the level plug drain at 9:46, did you turn off the car at some point while the car was leveling? Just curious, I just changed mine with ur video and I left it on while I let it level
So you changed it twice ?
Yeah, because it was so dirty, I did it twice.
I Drive a 2010 lexus is 250 and isstock on 3rd gear won't shift to 4th, what can it be, please help....
Ain't you're going to change filter as well 😊
do i really need to use quick jacks for letting out the overflow drain plug (level plug) ? I only have two ramps :(
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
I have an eerily similar situation. Bought my 2010 IS250 AWD two years ago and now at 116k miles I’m just starting to experience slippage. Gonna take her in to get the trans fluid changed hopefully that does the trick. The car has exceeded expectations up until now.🤞
Would love to have an update on the status of your daughters car. Any issues since?
Did you get your fluid changed? Did it solve your slippage?
I have 105k and wondering if your fluid change went well. I don’t have slippage btw. I just want it to last a long time.
@@nathanielm77 heading in to the stealership Monday. I’ll keep you posted.
@@ElPapiPollo169 hey again,
Did it solve the slippage problem?
And can I ask how much the dealership charged?
@@nathanielm77 picking it up Monday got delayed a bit cause I need my warranty company need to send out an adjuster to verify the claims cause I need a new R/S cv boot, ball joint & tire rod. I got quoted $400 for trans fluid and filter. To which I’m paying for. Everything else is covered by my warranty.
My fil plug is guarded by a plastic piece. where's yours?
how many times did you drain and fill ?
How many quarts did you get after draining the oil
cada cuantos kilometros se reemplaza el fluido?
Those cars will last too like 300k if not more if you just keep up on everything
I sure hope so, 300k will be our new goal.
I got my car level, and don’t really want to take her down to drive her. I’ve left her idle for a while and given her some decent rev’s for the past 10 mins or so. I hope this is enough to then open the over-fill hex//level plug. Is there any major danger if the level isn’t EXACT? Let me know ASAP cuz I’m going to do it anyway 😂
If you underfill the transmission expect some performance issues like slipping and rough shifts. It's better to overfill it slightly and do the leveling procedure than have issues and have to lift it again to put more in. It shouldn't take more than several minutes for the transmission to heat to 120F, check with a scanner or use a laser thermometer pointed at the transmission pan and if no fluid drips out when you open the overfill plug then you probably underfilled it.
Wait, so you drove it 10 miles with it overfilled? Then you didn't put the plug back in when it was trickling?
I'd measure what you drain out and replace with the same amount
Need more context on this question please and thank you.
@@davyarthurs
You can do it that way if the fluid in the trans and replacement fluid is the same temp. If the car is warm or hot the fluid removed would be expanded.
@@gamalielbahenabahena7214
Look up DIY Dan and his gs350 he does a trans fluid and filter replacement on. He does it by the book.
What do you mean by doing 1 cycle of fluid exchange? And why should we do two cycles?
I think he means changing the trans fluid, driving it around for a bit, then changing it again to drain out the fluid that you put in and get some fresh fluid in the system. What this does is kind of flush the system
Why d he drain it again
Got vsc code check engine. Change fluid and solenoid p0761. Still there. Ca won't smog because of check engine light. N e ideas??? Lol
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN MY 08 IS250....HELP
I have an 06' is350 and when i got the Check VSC code it turned out to be my catalytic converter. :/ got it changed and now that Check VSC is gone.
From what i have understood there is a tsb for it...update for the ecm...google it and connect your lexus dealer..sometimes the computer can trigger false codes..so ive heard..my car did the same like in februari...codes popped up...i reset then and they stayed away for 5 months...in the meanwhile i drained an filled the fluid twice...just 2 days ago the codes popped up again but the car drives like there is nothing wrong...shifts perfectly fine...did a reset again and untill today they havent come back(yet?)
經典
did you only did 2 q per flush ? i did 4 on mine :s
It's 2QT according to the factory service manual. Overwise you're wasting a bunch of fluid that you let out during the leveling procedure that could have been used for a second drain and fill.
My have 146k mileage is it good to do this ?
I have 180k and it runs very good
Yes, change it asap. Every 30k is recommended by Lexus. I was not aware of this and did not change mine and started having Kier slip and stick issues once I swap the fluid completely went away after a couple drives
@@danielgutierrez3043at how many miles did you do first change? Any problems since?
I think you did it wrong. It's supposed to be a certain temp when you check level and running when you do it.
He used a scan tool to check the temp.
YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FILTER AND TRANSMISSION OIL PAN GASKET WHILE YOU WERE AT IT THOSE YOU CAN CHANGE EVERY 1OO,OOO.OO MILES AND DO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID EVERY 5O,OOO.OO MILES THAT WILL GIVE YOU LONG LIFE TO THE CAR AND TRANSMISSION YOU COULD HAVE SOMEONE OR YOO DAUGHTER POUR IN THE FLUID FROM THE ENGINE BAY FROM ABOVE THE DRIVER SIDE THE LEAST SHE COULD HAVE HELP WITH HER CAR TOO GOODLUCK NEXT TIME
