The Tragic Truth official music video by Five Finger Death Punch is probably the closest thing I've ever seen to real isolation, depression, schizophrenia, addiction you name it. You don't have to make a response video but PLEASE PLEASE WATCH IT
Thank you for this Dr. Ali. I’m a huge fan of Megan ! I can totally relate to this song, and her entire album . Based on trauma. I have really bad anxiety but I have therapists they help me navigate through life’s journeys.
I don't listen to any of her music but those are some good lyrics. And it's so true that there's this middle ground of needing help but not being able to get any because you're not in a "bad enough" situation. This situation created by the broken system probably contributes to people feeling like they're not doing poorly enough to deserve help. I found out this also applies to impending homelessness as well. Tried to get help from a "homeless prevention" program that states they work to keep you in your housing. Yet I was told they can't help me until I'm quite literally on the street. Not helping people untill they're in an even worse situation is detrimental to everyone in the situation, including financially to those programs.
I can totally identify!! I have found that deep breathing exercises really have helped me since I started having anxiety again recently. I went years without it and all of a sudden it popped back up.
Dr. Ali Mattu, I mean seriously, you're great. Such finesse in the way you understand situations and respond. You really get things. I wish could have you as my therapist.
Almost everyone I meet thinks I’m being conceited or stuck up, and that’s not how I’m feeling at all. Wish more people understood I’m just dealing with social anxiety and trying not to have a panic attack.
I had a few months where i hated my team and i isolated myself in my cubicle. I can totally understand that lyric. It was me in my head just afraid to let out what was making me feel singled out. Speaking with my therapist turned down the volume.
The careful about knocking cannabis, Friend. Some of us have no other option. All meds for anxiety leave me with debilitating side effects. I rely on my 1:1 to get through school. (Honors. Psych. 4.0.) I do, however, require more than CBD 1:1 when situations get particularly stressful. It is unscientific to say that cannabis is bad when the appropriate studies have not been conducted. Certain strains are *certainly* counter-indicated for anxiety, but there is value in other strains for some people. We need less condemnation and more science, here. Hey, I think I just figured out what my undergrad thesis is going to be about! 🤪 (Jokes. I’m behavior science/ experimental.)
Can we take some moments from patient . I mean how his violent nature trigger. What psychological issues he had could it due his past experience. I am actually training mental health councilor I love your channel .
@@drali I just discovered his music a couple days ago, apparently he’s getting popular now. But a lot of his music has to do with mental health and hearing your take on it would be awesome!
What do you want me to react to next?
Mgla - "Exercises in futility V" ? ;)
Do you know about somatic system disorder??

Overwhelmed - Royal & the Serpent
Any of Citizen Soldier's songs
Marilyn, Britney, and Whitney all dealt with misogyny and mental health issues in the industry like she's currently now. I loved the reference.
Agreed, loved the reference!
This is the video I didn't know I needed, I love Megan's music and "Anxiety" was too relatable to me. Loved to hear your thoughts Doctor Ali!
I loved your take on this, especially about the hotline thing. Sometimes you still need someone to talk to when you're not exactly in a crisis.
Thank you for saying that having a therapist that understands your culture and background is so important, this is so true!

The grief and crisis line is what I go through every other day.
That was the most helpful information I have ever gotten in response to anxiety! I am 61. Thank you so much.
