I think you are mistaken - I play on internet sites that have NO advertising, so they have NO need of so-called "miracle rolls", and those sites are NOT used by the "masses"! However, there are some players who do not understand the game who will always suspect rolls that are generated by a computer: it's human nature, and confirmation bias. Also, there are plenty of "crazy" roll sequences in REAL games!!
'they' are first and foremost running a backgammon tournament, for the benefit of the participants. Just be grateful for the footage and quite the whining.

With no clock each player has his/her own dice, not strange at all.
