    A mindset that has helped me lately is focusing on continued effort, continued output, and accepting that in each moment I did the best I could at that time. I can pick out negative things with a perfectionist attitude, however when I view my passions and goals as a lifelong journey, the journey is the joy, not any specific achievement. I value my effort, over my performance. This helps me paradigm shift that perspective.
    Falling in love with the process, not the result, is working for me!

    Putting nylon strings on a guitar that's meant for steel can be a plus. Most classical necks are too wide and too challenging for most hands and you don't want to feel as if you have to fight, discipline or tame the guitar in order to at least get a descent sound from it. You may also have to widen the thinner nut slots.

    8:30 Actually a company out in Austria named "Thomastik" makes Steel Strings designed for Nylon String Guitars, their Classic S Series. KR116 strings are what Jake Wildwood reccomends.

    Ball End Classical Guitar Strings are simply Regular Classical Guitar Strings with Ball Ends tied on the ends of them (they do make tie beads that allow you to convert any Tie end Classical Guitar Strings into Ball End versions) so the tension is going to be pretty low compared to steel. They make restringing Classical Guitars a snap cause you don't have to tie them on to the bridge, and it also lets the strings come out of the bridge at a steeper angle over the saddle, which makes the Guitar a bit louder.

    You will need to adjust/loosen the neck truss rod (CAREFULLY!) if your guitar is equipped with one. To flatten the fret board to meet the lower tension and angle of the lighter string tension.
    That will greatly reduce buzzing ✌🇺🇸

    As a lifelong student and teacher.... 👨‍🎓🎸🙏
    Personally, I find when students struggle it's less about the physical limitations (physical limitations can be fixed with a better guitar size, sitting position, string tension, string size, lower tension strings, many pros use light tension strings) and far more about the following ingredients....
    I find it's more about;
    1) finding applicable learning strategies, ✅
    2) combined with healthy effort/repetition that retains the joy of learning, play is essential to learning, when there is play: learning becomes the reward! ✅ 😁
    3) and the psychology (largely fixed vs growth mindset). Growth mindset makes major improvements compared to a fixed mindset. 💪
    4) Also intrinsic motivation (student led goals/hopes/dreams/wishes) has healthy long term rewards. ⭐️💫🥅
    5) Where extrinsic pressure (being forced by someone or something else or a specific achievement as the end goal) can make learning stressful, so it doesn't last as a life long hobby/habit nor is it as rewarding or holistic for the student. ❌😬🥺😥
    I find the best combination seems to include... 👍
    1) collaborating via exploring the endless strategies for learning together with the student/ parent / tutor / band/ community. ✅👏
    2) holistic effort that includes a lot of fun and play and exploration ▶️😁
    3) growth mindset (the belief it's not a matter of if, only a matter of when) 💪 🤨
    4) mostly if not all goals to be intrinsically motivated! 🥅👏👍
    Blessings to you!

    • @jomama55ful
      @jomama55ful 3 года назад +2

      I would check the truss rod, as the tension on the neck is reduced. you may have to add some gap to get rid of buzzing around the 7-10 fret or so. Also, with the thicker high stings, you may need to rework the Nut to lower the action. But not too low. nylon will vibrate more, so need a bit more clearance.

    Nylon strings do not need the intonation angle, as they are more flexible, and do not go sharp when you fret them, so a compensated bridge/saddle is not really suitable. The nut also will need replacing so that the strings sit higher and don't buzz on the low frets, and the slots need to be wider as the strings are thicker. There will be less space between the strings too for that reason, which could make playing trickier on the lower frets. The saddle will need replacing for the strings to sit higher raising the action at the twelfth fret so that they don't buzz. Also you will lose a lot of volume from the guitar played unplugged, as the top will not vibrate as much as an accoustic guitar because there's only half the string pressure. Many accoustic pickups will not work the same with nylon strings either. All this considered I wouldn't bother, if you want a change occasionally I recommend buying a Spanish guitar, (or a fusion/crossover) instead, they're made for the job, and sound much better.

    • @theglobol
      @theglobol Год назад +2

      Yes or you can just try changing the strings and testing if it works or not. That's exactly what I did with my acoustic guitar and it worked perfectly. Btw I used the D'Addario Folk Nylon ball end strings. I love the sound and feel of nylons.

  • @neita9066

    Hi,
    My question is :
    On the classical the saddle is in right angel to the strings but on on the acoustic the saddle is skew a bit.
    Does nylon strings make any false tunes on acoustic because of that?
    Or it is better the saddle reprepared to the right angel ( just like on classical)for the precise tune?
    Obviously it is with reason in right angel on the classical.

    • @Bicknellable

      Since then I tried it. Didnt sound as I expected.
      Anyway a friend of mine's acoustic guitar sound pretty good with nylonstrings.
      Less space between strings was no problem because mine has 45mm nutwidth instead the standard 43 mm.
      Yes I am gonna get a spanish guitar too, but my dream is a fusion guitar.
      It is the mixture of the classical and acoustic.
      This type of guitar is with 48 mm nutwidth( that is just in between the standard acoustic and the classical size)
      It is with nylonstrings but the fretboard is with radius just like the acoustic one.
      This is rare, only a few guitar brands produce it.
      Expensives ( for me) (and I am left handed too) so at the moment it is chanceless.
