Type O is such a combination of sounds: doom, goth, 70's rock (I hear it, anyway) sparkly 80's new wave, post - punk, metal and some psychedelic stuff in there, too. And they did it seamlessly to create their own sound.
I really like how the songs Peter picks to cover are the songs that sound like Peter could have written them himself. They tell his story and he puts his emotions into them.
Opens the door to a whole new experience creating a much darker version of Paranoid, that just feels right!….I wish that I could enjoy life…but its too late…
JB With the covers,I feel like, whats the point!….unless you can bring your own perspective…after all a parrot can imitate perfectly the spoken word…but a true artists accesses his or her own true feelings & expands the experience through his/her own lives journey, without mimicking the message!
You know I don't even think of Sabbath while listening to this. Type~ 0 made this their own. When they get to the middle Can you help me feel love always brings me to tears! His voice was so warming and so truthful. It came from within you can hear it. Type- o negative is a stand alone band. The music never followed anything on radio or what media said was good. They were there own I believe that's what makes them a gem. No band will ever be able to do what they did. Pete said there was a lot of down time with type o but I think that's what it took to accomplish their style and music. I really miss seeing them all together. Thank God for video and memories
PW VOLLMER it is called evolving. If you blame them for being different and unpredictable in every album, then your choice is really monotonous. ant argue there. It takes gut's to be different, only comes to true musicians. And they very well knew they would lose fans.. but they did it anyway, coz thats what genuine musicians do.
Honestly like this version better. I mean Sabbath was always dark, and definitely inspired Type O. But this took the darkness to a whole other level of doom and gloom and it's fucking glorious!!!!
+EQOAnostalgia I'm glad someone else feels the same as I do. As much as I love Sabbath, TON did justice on every cover they recorded. They kept the spirit of the original recording/artist but made it their own at the same time.
DAMN!!! I'm hearing this for the first time, and I have to say that Type O Negative did one KICK-ASS cover of the Black Sabbath classic. And, they did it their OWN way!!! \m/
This is the first Type O song I ever heard. I heard it on Sirius XM while flipping through channels. Peter's voice was mesmerizing. And hearing it changed my life. Never heard anything like this band before.
It is a magnificent cover. We can't really compare it to the original, because they are both totally different, TON made a whole different interpretation of the song.
Met Peter and thanked him for the bad ass music. He thanked me for the gas money. Asked him which exercises he likes best. Chin-ups but he called them chin-downs. Because instead of pulling himself up, he was pulling the sky down. He gave me a swig of Red Water out of his giant wine bottle. Ozzy / Type O / Sepultura - 1996. Amazing human being. Gone too soon. As Kenny screams GODDAMN IT! RIP Pete.
Tremendo cover...solo los grandes logran esto.. \m/ un tren de emocion. Pete era la locomotora.. los 90s nos dejaron esto grandeza.. aguante el metal..
Oddly enough, I've always liked the original Paranoid song by Black Sabbath but I could never understand all of the vocals, thanks to Peter's clear voice I now know the lyrics! lol, this is an AMAZING cover of the song.
Thats why im addicted to them....are always "one up" on anyone.....over any "serious topic......over anything meaningful or not..........music means many diffrent things to many diffrent people...... Its in my blood.... Im from Lonnnnnggg island...kinda like staten...."its woven into the fabrics of my D.N.A....
So far every time I hear this song I feel I'm peering into experiences similar to what Peter sings about and time slows down. The woman laughing is so creepy (almost cinematic) but perfectly adds to how this woman makes him feel. Haunted.
to bad peter had to die. he was a awsome song writer and a bassist. thell never be another to replace him , thats for damn sure. but like he said, everything dies right...
Or Pink Floyd. At this ratio of increase (*2.619), their cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album would have looked like this: Pigs on the Wing 1: 3:40 Dogs: 44:42 Pigs (Three Different Ones): 30:02 Sheep: 27:04 Pigs on the Wing 2: 3:40 Would put Dream Theater to shame!
"can you help me feel love love love! cos he's not made of steel" discovered this cover last year, this is definitely a diamond in the rough! peter gives me life! you're so missed RIP
BDG BDG Discovered this last year?!?!??? Have you heard their version of 'Hey Joe' (called 'Hey Pete') or 'Summer Breeze' ?? Highly recommended. In fact, I rec their first 3 albums: Slow, Deep, and Hard, Bloody Kisses, and October Rust. Nothing better!!
I have the Summer Breeze cover. It's spectacular! Have heard the hey Pete, I'll have to check it out. I have so much of their music, but I always seem to stumble across something by Type O I haven't heard.
this version and the original are so different its really hard to compare them the original will always be my favorite song but this is definitely the next best version
This us the only version I like and like it allot this should have been type o negatives even though there lyrics are better especially the ones they added to paranoid!
Absolute masters of doom laden metal. I bought the "Bloody Kisses" lp back in late 1992 and felt completely shocked listening to it for the first time....... (by the way, on that album there was a cover of "Summer Breeze", the Seals & Crofts' hit, in a doom metal remake!!!). Hats off Peter!!!!
I have a friend who doesnt like Type O(i know, dumb). He loves Sabbath and he praises this cover. So he doesnt have horrible taste after all lol. Type O forever!
The thing about Type O doing covers, they made it their own. And that's what I appreciate the most.
no kidding. Peter almost makes me forget the original. This man was a legend.
Pete Steele and Lemmy are the most missed figures in metal imo
Pete and Lemmy have their new bands in Valhalla. There will be a concert of kings when we get there.
There'd better be a spot for me at that table mate.
They are truly missed. But I think far too often people forget about Chuck Schuldiner. R.I.P.
Type O is such a combination of sounds: doom, goth, 70's rock (I hear it, anyway) sparkly 80's new wave, post - punk, metal and some psychedelic stuff in there, too. And they did it seamlessly to create their own sound.
Yo 'THEY' is a strong word! Because at times 1 felt awfully alone!!!💪
That's not a re-make, that's a complete re-IMAGINING. Outstanding! Yes Peter, you WERE good enough....
rick neal. I doubt he would have believed it even if he had been told 100X...but would have wanted to.
rick neal 🌹
rick neal more than enough
rick neal this is even a better version than sabbath.
For you?
No one else has ever been capable of making magic like this. No one else ever will be. Peter was not made of steel, but he was ALWAYS 100% real.
He had the voice of an angel.....a dark angel but still an angel
You're aware this is a cover right....
Please don't use hugh jackman references here.
His rod is stiff made from steel!
@@Metallizombie Yess!
Love the way they snuck in that Ironman riff at 2:51 lol
lol I didn't ever realize that till I read ur comment xD
They do the same in their cover of the song black sabbath by slipping in the chorus riff from killing yourself to live.
Its genius
A True tribute to the immortal Black Sabbath. Genius
jeff deathrage Thanks, I see you have good taste in motorcycles and music as well...
this version is 100% darker than the original black Sabbath song. but this is why it is called goth metal because it is perfect for a funeral
Andrew Leary yes it would be a good music for Gothic Funerals for sure
Yah mine
LMMFAO, more like something to fall asleep by and ending up in a nightmare, that sucked.
The best Black Sabbath cover ever. Wow.
Thats For Dam Sure
Another band that makes original covers is Soundgarden, pre-sabbathic vibe
Into the Void by Soundgarden...
@@NatteRoll oh yeah. Thats a good one.
@@NatteRoll I also dig ministry's cover of paranoid.
you must listen "Nativity in Black"
I really like how the songs Peter picks to cover are the songs that sound like Peter could have written them himself. They tell his story and he puts his emotions into them.
Pete was a musical genius.
Don't mistake lack of talent for genius
SHUT UP!!!!!!, Where Is Your Band Then? MORON!!!!!!
Easy now. Apparently you don't get the reference so he's a bigger Type O fan than you.
Yeah Pete once said that, but only he can say it.
"Welcome to the tourettes hour with Peter steele!"
im just thouroughly impressed that type o made a two minute song last seven minutes
Not only their best cover, but arguably one of their best songs ever. I really like Sal's drumming in this one.
normally u can tell when a song is a cover, but type-o's style is so distinct
Opens the door to a whole new experience creating a much darker version of Paranoid, that just feels right!….I wish that I could enjoy life…but its too late…
reekashade Usually not a fan of covers, but peter steel has a unique voice for sure.
JB With the covers,I feel like, whats the point!….unless you can bring your own perspective…after all a parrot can imitate perfectly the spoken word…but a true artists accesses his or her own true feelings & expands the experience through his/her own lives journey, without mimicking the message!
+reekashade Yeah covers are interpretations.

Hey baby, it's Luke, your hubby I wanted to say I love you so much always and forever. RIP. My love,My Angel Above.💚
Luke Board
Oh that’s messed up man. RIP your wife whose legacy survives in the good that can happen in these comment sections.
Always make me think of German goth rock meets the Munsters!
This cover is so melancholic, Yes.
Amazing version...I loved this band so much. Met Peter once at a show in DC...He was a gentleman and very funny...
"cause he's not made of steel"...Amazing, I love how they throw the ironman riff in there to drive the point home.
The feelings in his voice will makes this the greatest of all time.
God how I miss the Gothic Scene of the late 90's early 2000's.
Me too...
heard of Tiamat? They are still alive and kicking ass..
Maybe ! I Been awhile since since I actually listened to some good Goth Bands.
Manmeet Singh TIAMAT WAS GREAT...CLOUDS...WILDHONEY...BEFORE THEY WENT GAY....

Peter gave us true emotions in there. You must love this masterpiece
This song hits a spot deep in my soul every time I hear it. I almost hate to love it..."Can you help me feel love? 'Cause I'm not made of steel.."
I wish to feel steel because to be made of love leaves me crushed bent and torn I want to feel cold again
Thanks! Took it from "Haunted." 😊
Miss Nocturna cuz im not made of steel ... oh no ... no...
I know exactly what you mean,,, their style of music is extraordinary and reach deep inside and touch you deeply. So can you help me
I love chasing moonlight....
This is a cover in Type O Negative's style . Every band can made a cover in their style .
This is the magnificent in the music
ratdancer77 they completely reconstructed the song in a way never imagined.
Gives me chills when he says can u help me feel love. It so beautiful
Honestly like this version better. I mean Sabbath was always dark, and definitely inspired Type O. But this took the darkness to a whole other level of doom and gloom and it's fucking glorious!!!!

+EQOAnostalgia yeah it's much darker
It's that time of the year again! When i spam post the shit out of ToN on social media lol. All hail the Autumn!
It´s never enough!
DAMN!!! I'm hearing this for the first time, and I have to say that Type O Negative did one KICK-ASS cover of the Black Sabbath classic. And, they did it their OWN way!!! \m/
"Wild Man" Dean And that chorus melody.. fucking amazing
This is the first Type O song I ever heard. I heard it on Sirius XM while flipping through channels. Peter's voice was mesmerizing. And hearing it changed my life. Never heard anything like this band before.
Sarah Beth Keep rocking that gorgeous smile, mylady!
peter was great..used to see him a lot on the streets of Brooklyn..when it used to be a good place to live
this makes you contemplate life
stfu
I love how they didn't completely copy the song and actually made their own toned down version. This is one of my new favotite covers and I love it.
An amazing cover by an amazing man. Rest in peace Peter Steele. Still remembering you here in jolly ol' 2017.
Peter did a Marvelous cover of Black Sabbath Paranoid.
2:51 _True happiness i must be blind_ then comes that doom density with the addition of "Iron Man". Damn heaviness! Exponential cover!
Pete took this song to a whole new level. This is soooo deep and soooo good. Thanks a TON!! :D
it's impossible to rate the genius level of this cover
It is a magnificent cover. We can't really compare it to the original, because they are both totally different, TON made a whole different interpretation of the song.
Is great!Peter was able to create deep atmosphere, ho gets straight to the heart. Awesome.
Petes voice is so emotional.....i cant begin to comprehend talent and humanity all in one
Seriously Type o had the best damn covers Cinnamon girl Summer breeze Just wow Glad I got to see them in concert.....
RIP Pete.
Peete trouxe o estilo do Type para a música! Ficou ótimo!
Pete nailed it on Sabbath covers. R.I.P. Greenman
Every time I hear this it's like the first time... Wonderful cover.
Dynamo Babe /
Best paranoid cover EVER, from one of the best bands EVER ...
Huge Sabbath fan but fuck Type O really brings shit to another level. I would argue they are the best band of all time
I'm kinda in love with this song. I can relate with the lyrics and Peter Steele made this beautiful version. I'm thankful.
wow, amazing how they turned such a fast track into such a mellow (relatively speaking, of course) tune.
Best band I ever got to see live
I absolutely love this!! Its been too long since I heard this version!!
Absolutely beautiful.
"He's not made of Steele."
+Fear57 Like he's signing about himself.
this is true. his real name was Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk.
Fear57 No man is made of Steele anymore ;^;
This song makes me get real emotional......bye....
I was in prison the day Peter died it was one day I'm still sad about R.I.P. Mr. Steele
Out of this world..... it's not a cover, it's a different song. Genius
pure joy to listen this cover!!! Amazing band!
I think it's one of the best Black Sabbath cover ever made in my opinion
Great cover.....Great band!!! Rust in Peace, Mr. Steel.
1:40 is my favorite part 😍 chills
Heard it on release and get goosebumps still to this day when the "Can you help him feel..." comes on. Seems timeless!
Type O Negative... my, what a marvel!
Still listening to TON in 2022, and it still sucks that Peter died that early or we might have had 2 or 3 more albums by now to talk about.
My dead soulmate....oh how I love thee!
Love love all their covers ....
Oddly enough, I've always liked the original Paranoid song by Black Sabbath but I could never understand all of the vocals, thanks to Peter's clear voice I now know the lyrics! lol, this is an AMAZING cover of the song.
Excelente versión del clásico de Black Sabbath.

I don't think it gets any heavier than that. I love it. As a guitar player myself I'm really blown away.
one of the best cover!!! Epic 4 me!
Peter RIP
Slow and beautiful

My all time favorite band...my GOD their covers are so incredibly fantastic!
to bad peter had to die. he was a awsome song writer and a bassist. thell never be another to replace him , thats for damn sure. but like he said, everything dies right...
Tim Laughter. YES yes indeed..
Such a waste
when you're dead we won't care, so enjoy your bullshit stoicism while you can.
@@shadowrunner138 Can only assume you are referring to the three fake comments above, right?
He sounds more sincere and real than when Ozzy sang it. But Both are Great!
He definently sounds more Paranoid
AWESOME!! listening for the firts time and love it
shit imagine what they could have done if they covered some of the DOORS SONGS
He did. I am certain Pete covered one. Maybe he covered 2. I know 1 for a fact.
You can find a live version of TON doing Light My Fire here on youtube...
Or Pink Floyd.
At this ratio of increase (*2.619), their cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album would have looked like this:
Pigs on the Wing 1: 3:40
Dogs: 44:42
Pigs (Three Different Ones): 30:02
Sheep: 27:04
Pigs on the Wing 2: 3:40
Would put Dream Theater to shame!

I’ve seen them perform this live and I was in awe the whole time cause I love Sabbath and it was just so deep and dark sounding.

an epic cover/re work, masters indeed.
shit this is always so fucking depressing and uplifting at the same time... only type o could do it this way
Never thought a song could be loaded with so much sex.
Such a unique cover.
Love how they improvise; Song is very dark in Type O Negative mode...I mis Peter Steele...R. I.P...
I miss these guys
Pete never wrote a bad song. It still hurts he's gone
Who's Peter?
