However, during our holiday in the enchanting Bellagio, Lake Como, Italy, we yearned to be immersed in the authentic local experience, savoring the accents of the native residents. Surprisingly, the overwhelming popularity of this destination seemed to attract a multitude of visitors, leaving us with the delightful symphony of American voices throughout the day. In a place known for its allure, it was rare to encounter the sweet cadence of Italian conversations. With over 6.1 million Americans visiting Bellagio annually, it appears they all gathered on the day of our visit, making their presence quite predominant. Nonetheless, we appreciate the diversity, and it could have been more amusing if we had been surrounded solely by British accents all day!
Yea, I wouldn't wanna go there just to hangout with a bunch of Americans either, and their my people! Next time, go in the winter, or find a destination that is much less popular. Ive heard amazing things about the beaches in Puglia, and Molise. Best wishes!

Belliago looks absolutely stunning, we love places like this that are relatively untouched over the decades. To me they feel that still have there soul and not been destroyed by modernisation.

Wow, okay...paying for your parking?! hehe, shocked me to my core. But it's totally needed! Loving the boat trip, happy 20th anniversary too, how amazing!! Nice to see the city of Bellagio, the views are just immaculate, love the coloured houses along the lake. It just shows my ignorance Alessa, i thought the punta was a swear word! it very nearly is in Spanish. we talk about getting to the tip on the journey there and i learn (weeks later) that is literally “la punta”. Bellagio is definitely stunning, glad we can say we have finally been and that i survived the boat ride over! thank you so much for kindness and support as always. Mega love Nick and Jill xxxx
Oh wow i wasnt even aware of this lake! Italy has some pretty stunning ones though doesn't it? Some wonderful architecture and beautiful culture surrounding it too!
I love taking ferries on Lake Como and I get horribly seasick (could never do a cruise!) the lake is generally calm and you never sit at the back with the diesel fumes (I'd be throwing up in no time!) The ferries are quite fast and it's a smooth ride so I really enjoy being on the lake. Even the smaller ferries that go along the Lecco branch of the lake are fine. I wave to George Clooney's villa at Laglio when we go past, just incase he's home!😀

Ah you did guys, a great one, left you a massive comment back too, how annoying and also how typical. You guys would boss Lake Como, the car is only necessary if you need to get to out of reach spots to hike mountains, so many places to see lake side. Bus service every half hour and lots of ferry crossings. It’s less than an hour away from either Milan airport so public transport all the way!

Hi Jill and Nick! Before watching your video I read your pinned comment. I knew it was hugely popular with Americans. We've been to the beautiful Lake Garda on a couple of occasions. It is full of British and German visitors! I could see why Bellagio is so popular. It is gorgeous. I must admit, it is nice to go to a place that has more local people than tourists. Somewhere authentic and not too touristy. The maze of little cobbled streets was so quaint. The park was delightful with its little hedge seats. Thank you for showing us around ❤❤
its a wonderful place Julie and Lucy, definitely one we were glad to have visited! on previous holidays we have “prided” ourselves for only going to places that are authentic and linguistingally clean. when we go on a foreign holiday we dont want to hear english spoken even if it helps us out in an emergency. Bellagio is the absolute opposite spectrum from that, there is no hint of Italian there and if you drop into conversation or hello with anyone they are all American and its no wonder why. the place is absolutely fabulous. i can only liken the experience to Americans wanting to experience “real Spain” and landing in the abyss that is the British Benidorm. love americans, brits not so much, but when in Rome… ..lets hear Greek? ive confused myself now 😂😂 hedge seats? thats a new one us. massive love xxx ♥️🇺🇸

Hey you guys sorry I missed the premiere, lovely place and that is funny about all the Americans. The streets looked absolutely amazing and the quaint atmosphere reminded me of my time in Italy. Nice landscaping and boxwoods too. Love those. That ice cream, stop it!! LOL. I gained so much weight because of the gelato while in Italy. We were stationed in Pisa 4 years.
Many beautiful little areas over there...I was taken right away by the narrow streets...yikes. But I'll have to say that from your title, I first thought you made a quick trip to Las Vegas to visit the Bellagio Hotel and the famous dancing water works. Hi Nick and Jill what a stunning place Lake Como is, we enjoyed losing ourselves in the beautiful Italian scenery. Dave isn't keen on boats either and I will not fly which does somewhat restrict our adventures 😉. The view after your boat trip was so stunning. The streets up from the lake were just so quaint. The architecture is beautiful just screams Italy. Was the water in the lake cold? It looked very inviting I would have enjoyed a paddle there. A great tour thank you both so much for sharing. Here goes, this was an outstanding composition of cinephotography (believe I’ve made that word up, but I like it). Beautiful scenery throughout, why can’t I film like you? Jilly paying for parking! Jilly calls it Bacon Butties. “He’s off filming bacon butties again!” trying to get the minutae to balance up with the massive, its all at beginning stages and im learning so much (self taught thats why it is taking so long doh). today im experimenting with balancing pans, an upwards shot of one item should be contrasted with a downwards shot of another, im guessing the same will work with left and right. all that being said i wish my shots were less shaky, i guess that comes with practice or a lot more youth than i can bring! 3 euros for a freshly made gelato in the most expensive part of Italy? or the same for a processed Mr Whippy in the UK? there is definitely something amiss! thank you so much for very kind words. have an amazing weekend ♥️
Gosh another amazing day on Lake Como. Awww I feel for you guys not liking boats ... I love them, but perhaps this trip reassured you both that they can be ok & even fun ! I don't know where to start with this video, so much to see and not one thing that wasn't up to scratch... though it did seem a little busy but you can understand why. Stunning mountain & local scenery, charactaful narrow streets, lovely places to walk & build up an appetite for scrummy looking food. All the shops looked amazing for window shopping and good quality merchandise, let's face it tutting at the prices is half the fun 😃 A fabulous way to spend the last day of a wonderful holiday. thank you so much Christine 🙏 I can remember feeling out of sorts on a windermere to Ambleside boat trip that knocked me for six for at least half a day. really bad case of motion sickness and the slightest hint of diesel in the air will bring the sensation flooding back! definitely inflated prices in Bellagio, a lot of the things on sale there could be easily found three or four times cheaper just a few miles away on Lake Como. it was our last day, I thought if the boat was going to get me I’d leave it till the end of the trip so that it wouldn’t affect any of our holiday. We managed three incredible mountains and three lakeside adventures so there will be more videos trickling out from these parts over the coming months. From next week it will all be Christmas themed. if we have any Scrooges in our subs we might very well be loosing them! 😂😂 have an awesome week ♥️ ⛰️

That looked a cracking day out even if it didn't look hermit friendly in places. Even us hermits can appreciate those beautiful places that are busy. I love a good ferry trip. The clouds on the top of the mountains made that look like volcanoes erupting. Did well to get a good stop for food. You didn't need to do that cheeky Nandos. The spot down at the lake was particularly nice and great for a paddle. I'd say all in all not a bad day out for the last day. I bet you've had a lot worse. Another day for the memory bank 👍
thank you so much Paul, yes along with Varenna its definitely the most popular spot on Como, so many places you can go to avoid the crowds though. its a place where you can dip your toe into the tourist crowds and escape them entirely almost instantly! definitely worth a venture, it was our third holiday there and wont be our last, still so many mountains to climb..

Guys its so so beautiful here and I loved looking around. The lake and mountains are gorgeous and the boats there were so inviting, the ferry looked good, Alf and I are not too good in boats either 🤭 but hopefully you thought it was worth it. Loved the cobbled streets you walked on and the cute buildings, that tourist information centre was in an amazing place too :) You made me jealous talking about the smell of food though haha . Wonderful architecture around here and I liked the narrow streets so much. Absolutely beautiful place and I loved the Roman church you went in. Really enjoyed your tour here 👏~ Anna ❤
thank you so much Anna, yes culturaly, significantly and historically it is an amazing place to tour. All Churches and Cathedrals are free and magnificent. we re did a part of the Pilgrims Way which is an extension of the Camino De Santiago that takes one from the UK to the foot of Spain. the bit we did is the end part which takes you on a trek down to Rome. A stunning section with lovely Chapels. ah Italian food, impossible to beat we think? just the smells alone are worth a visit. hope you have an amazing weekend! ♥️
That place looks brilliant - every time we see these vids we want to be there. We are definitely getting the area on the itinery for next year. Shame you had to pay for parking in the end, but great that you could get a ferry to Bellagio and that you both got on it!! The views are awesome. Bellagio looks like a beautiful town on Como. Funny on Garda, German was spoken as much as Italian. I love the lakeside bars and cafes, that’s where you’d find me. The restaurant you chose looked lovely, worth the walk. Bellissimo 💜

Absolutely Simon, Bellagio is well renowned for being one of the most popular spots on Como, I’ve always wanted to visit and this was our third holiday (not our last) to the lovely lake and Bellagio is pretty inaccessible by car to anyone but the Uber wealthy residents, it’s always been a hope that I could one day visit it. braved the ferry and it definitely was worth it. Shame about the park that overlooks Bellagio being privately owned, when i first started planning a Lake Como trip many, many years ago it looked like the perfect spot to view Como and watch the best sunset. Awesome guys and big well done to Nick for surviving the boat trip! There were tons of Americans there back in April when I was there. Lovely people but it doesn't feel like you're in Italy! I blame the Bellagio Casino in Vegas! Food looked delish and gelato is the perfect way to finish off the trip! I was expecting Jill to say 'here comes the plaaaane' when spoonfeeding Nick! 😂
It probably is the Bellagio in Vegas, out of the true id say I prefer the Casino as its architecture is stunning and since its creation in the late 90s it redefined the standards of what could be a resort or Casino in Vegas. The fountains at the Bellagio are quite possibly, the best in the world and nobody ever complains about hearing Americans in Vegas, they fit in perfectly and are a joy to listen to. In Italy? Not so much. It’s always been a pet peeve of mine to hear English spoken in non English speaking countries, it really grates. I’m at my happiest when nobody understands me and I don’t understand them either, that’s what makes a holiday for me and it really forces you to learn a language to adapt. Here comes the choo choo! I love that! 😂 Still im glad I’ve been, always wanted to go and never got round to it. There are plenty of Italian places on Lake Como that aren’t attracting the tourists so we only have ourselves to blame when we visit them!
Bellagio really looks like a beautiful place to visit and explore😍 with lots to see , gorgeous views, quaint little cobblestones streets, picturesque buildings, stunning lake etc...but geez it is so darn busy and touristy. I must admit, considering how popular it is, the prices for the ferry, restaurant and even the gelato where reasonable but that bucket hat not so much🙁..110 euros...wow... tourist bait...wait...did I hear an american accent...with tax that'll be 150 euros now... thank you sir...y'all come back now ya hearrr... but I digress). It was a great tour of Bellagio....the only thing I know about Bellagio is a hotel in Vegas so you two have opened my eyes! What a beautiful place to visit! I would have been one of those American voices in the background no doubt, and a Brooklyn/California accent too! I also can get seasick on land in the right circumstances so I can empathize with you! This was such a great trip and I do need to mention one thing...in all my years of eating out I have never once seen anyone order French fries with pasta....there I've said it Hugs from Hollywood to the two of you...I hope you have a sense of humor😘🥰

But Jill has a huge love for what us Brits call Chips (a much bigger, fatter version of fries) although she was wanting Pasta she had one of her ‘Chip cravings’ but obviously with Bellagio being more popular with Americans their Chips are French fries 😂 we wasn’t disappointed and Jill says it was actually a great combo 👍 thanks for your awesome comment and have a super weekend ❤️

🙏 thank you so much guys. you really would love it there. crossing off the ridiculously high mountains there is so much to boss around Como in your style. there is a bus every 30 minutes that does the entire lake and is cheap as chips, there is a faster train that serves the entire east side even cheaper, the ferries are cheap, public transport is key there, which is what you guys are worldclass at. the international milan airports are only an hour away from Como, its on your doorstep! would love to see you guys in this place! there are a few steps in places like Bellagio but far less than i have seen you doing on your Greek Cruise stop offs! love you guys, dont work too hard, looking forward to your video tomorrow 🍻

I am with you when it comes to not wanting to wait in a queue to get off a boat. I always do the same thing though it's more due to my planter fasciitis than the diesel fumes but of course I don't like those either and I am prone to motion sickness.
Thats an annoying condition Ian, sorry about that. I am very prone to motion sickness and usually need a 12 hour rest after being on a boat as i feel like im still moving for that length of time after! Not smelling the diesel fumes and the short duration seemed to help.

That food looked delicious! But I need you to explain why they served french fries in your meal. That seems like a very British thing to me to have pasta or pizza with french fries. Do Italians really do that? Or did you just order a side of fries?🍟
i think every restaurant there was geared up for the American tourists! had it been full of brits (some mercy there were none), they would have probably offered chips and all day breakfasts! i think they picture Americans eating fries with their meal, we couldnt resist them! Fries as a side is really common in the very touristy parts of Lake Como..
Bellagio is a very pretty town but I think you've highlighted the main issue with visiting it and that it's extremely well known by tourists outside of Italy and it's loved to death by them! I horrify people when they ask for recommendations about visiting Lake Como and I say don't go to Bellagio there are lovely towns all along the lake that are a lot less crowded. It's as if I've told them their favourite relative had died! I personally like Menaggio, just across the lake, much, much quieter, it is smaller but as scenic and it's easy to get a table at a cafe right next to the lake as there are so few people!
🤣😂 guess between the both of us we have nailed it with Bellagio! Yes we visited Menaggio 3 years ago and ate Lake side it was beautiful and we did nearly do it again but felt we needed to see Bellagio as not been before! We also like Bellano and Gravedona but there are lots, like you said, lovely towns along the lake! 👍❤️

Belliago looks absolutely stunning, we love places like this that are relatively untouched over the decades. To me they feel that still have there soul and not been destroyed by modernisation.

Wow, okay...paying for your parking?! hehe, shocked me to my core. But it's totally needed! Loving the boat trip, happy 20th anniversary too, how amazing!! Nice to see the city of Bellagio, the views are just immaculate, love the coloured houses along the lake. Glad you went to the 'la punta' what a place, nice to see proper authentic foods and nice to see you both enjoying your meal! Ooo Gelato, what a way to finish off the day! It just shows my ignorance Alessa, i thought the punta was a swear word! it very nearly is in Spanish. we talk about getting to the tip on the journey there and i learn (weeks later) that is literally “la punta”. Bellagio is definitely stunning, glad we can say we have finally been and that i survived the boat ride over! thank you so much for kindness and support as always. Mega love Nick and Jill xxxx

I love taking ferries on Lake Como and I get horribly seasick (could never do a cruise!) the lake is generally calm and you never sit at the back with the diesel fumes (I'd be throwing up in no time!) The ferries are quite fast and it's a smooth ride so I really enjoy being on the lake. Even the smaller ferries that go along the Lecco branch of the lake are fine. I wave to George Clooney's villa at Laglio when we go past, just incase he's home!😀

Ah you did guys, a great one, left you a massive comment back too, how annoying and also how typical. You guys would boss Lake Como, the car is only necessary if you need to get to out of reach spots to hike mountains, so many places to see lake side. Bus service every half hour and lots of ferry crossings. It’s less than an hour away from either Milan airport so public transport all the way!

Hi Jill and Nick! Before watching your video I read your pinned comment. I knew it was hugely popular with Americans. We've been to the beautiful Lake Garda on a couple of occasions. It is full of British and German visitors! I could see why Bellagio is so popular. It is gorgeous. I must admit, it is nice to go to a place that has more local people than tourists. Somewhere authentic and not too touristy. The maze of little cobbled streets was so quaint. The park was delightful with its little hedge seats. Thank you for showing us around ❤❤

on previous holidays we have “prided” ourselves for only going to places that are authentic and linguistingally clean. when we go on a foreign holiday we dont want to hear english spoken even if it helps us out in an emergency.
Bellagio is the absolute opposite spectrum from that, there is no hint of Italian there and if you drop into conversation or hello with anyone they are all American and its no wonder why. the place is absolutely fabulous.
i can only liken the experience to Americans wanting to experience “real Spain” and landing in the abyss that is the British Benidorm.

Hey you guys sorry I missed the premiere, lovely place and that is funny about all the Americans. The streets looked absolutely amazing and the quaint atmosphere reminded me of my time in Italy. Nice landscaping and boxwoods too. Love those. That ice cream, stop it!! LOL. I gained so much weight because of the gelato while in Italy. We were stationed in Pisa 4 years.

Hi Nick and Jill what a stunning place Lake Como is, we enjoyed losing ourselves in the beautiful Italian scenery. Dave isn't keen on boats either and I will not fly which does somewhat restrict our adventures 😉. The view after your boat trip was so stunning. The streets up from the lake were just so quaint. Here goes, this was an outstanding composition of cinephotography (believe I’ve made that word up, but I like it). Beautiful scenery throughout, why can’t I film like you? Jilly paying for parking! Amazing shots of Jillies rear throughout, the steps, the streets, the pier WOW! 3 Euros for an ice cream, how the other half live. Great to see Nick’s rear on the ferry WOW! Jilly calls it Bacon Butties. “He’s off filming bacon butties again!” trying to get the minutae to balance up with the massive, its all at beginning stages and im learning so much (self taught thats why it is taking so long doh). today im experimenting with balancing pans, an upwards shot of one item should be contrasted with a downwards shot of another, im guessing the same will work with left and right. all that being said i wish my shots were less shaky, i guess that comes with practice or a lot more youth than i can bring! 3 euros for a freshly made gelato in the most expensive part of Italy? or the same for a processed Mr Whippy in the UK? there is definitely something amiss! thank you so much for very kind words. have an amazing weekend ♥️

Gosh another amazing day on Lake Como. Awww I feel for you guys not liking boats ... I love them, but perhaps this trip reassured you both that they can be ok & even fun ! I don't know where to start with this video, so much to see and not one thing that wasn't up to scratch... though it did seem a little busy but you can understand why. Stunning mountain & local scenery, charactaful narrow streets, lovely places to walk & build up an appetite for scrummy looking food. All the shops looked amazing for window shopping and good quality merchandise, let's face it tutting at the prices is half the fun 😃 A fabulous way to spend the last day of a wonderful holiday. definitely inflated prices in Bellagio, a lot of the things on sale there could be easily found three or four times cheaper just a few miles away on Lake Como.
it was our last day, I thought if the boat was going to get me I’d leave it till the end of the trip so that it wouldn’t affect any of our holiday.
We managed three incredible mountains and three lakeside adventures so there will be more videos trickling out from these parts over the coming months.
From next week it will all be Christmas themed. if we have any Scrooges in our subs we might very well be loosing them! 😂😂

That looked a cracking day out even if it didn't look hermit friendly in places. Even us hermits can appreciate those beautiful places that are busy. I love a good ferry trip. The clouds on the top of the mountains made that look like volcanoes erupting. Did well to get a good stop for food. You didn't need to do that cheeky Nandos. The spot down at the lake was particularly nice and great for a paddle. I'd say all in all not a bad day out for the last day. I bet you've had a lot worse. Another day for the memory bank 👍
thank you so much Paul, yes along with Varenna its definitely the most popular spot on Como, so many places you can go to avoid the crowds though. its a place where you can dip your toe into the tourist crowds and escape them entirely almost instantly! definitely worth a venture, it was our third holiday there and wont be our last, still so many mountains to climb..

Guys its so so beautiful here and I loved looking around. The lake and mountains are gorgeous and the boats there were so inviting, the ferry looked good, Alf and I are not too good in boats either 🤭 but hopefully you thought it was worth it. Loved the cobbled streets you walked on and the cute buildings, that tourist information centre was in an amazing place too :) You made me jealous talking about the smell of food though haha . Wonderful architecture around here and I liked the narrow streets so much. Absolutely beautiful place and I loved the Roman church you went in. Really enjoyed your tour here 👏~ Anna ❤

All Churches and Cathedrals are free and magnificent. we re did a part of the Pilgrims Way which is an extension of the Camino De Santiago that takes one from the UK to the foot of Spain. the bit we did is the end part which takes you on a trek down to Rome. A stunning section with lovely Chapels. ah Italian food, impossible to beat we think? just the smells alone are worth a visit. hope you have an amazing weekend! ♥️
That place looks brilliant - every time we see these vids we want to be there. We are definitely getting the area on the itinery for next year. Maybe not the boat trips 😃😃
I must admit, small ferries are a bit nerve wracking - the big ones no problem.

Advantage is, you get to the other side. and what a destination. Wow. I've been to Italy a couple of times, and now I can say: 3 times, once with Nick and Jill. What a treat. Shame you had to pay for parking in the end, but great that you could get a ferry to Bellagio and that you both got on it!! The views are awesome. Bellagio looks like a beautiful town on Como. Funny on Garda, German was spoken as much as Italian. I love the lakeside bars and cafes, that’s where you’d find me. The restaurant you chose looked lovely, worth the walk. Bellissimo 💜

Absolutely Simon, Bellagio is well renowned for being one of the most popular spots on Como, I’ve always wanted to visit and this was our third holiday (not our last) to the lovely lake and Bellagio is pretty inaccessible by car to anyone but the Uber wealthy residents, it’s always been a hope that I could one day visit it. braved the ferry and it definitely was worth it. Shame about the park that overlooks Bellagio being privately owned, when i first started planning a Lake Como trip many, many years ago it looked like the perfect spot to view Como and watch the best sunset. Awesome guys and big well done to Nick for surviving the boat trip! There were tons of Americans there back in April when I was there. Lovely people but it doesn't feel like you're in Italy! I blame the Bellagio Casino in Vegas! Food looked delish and gelato is the perfect way to finish off the trip! I was expecting Jill to say 'here comes the plaaaane' when spoonfeeding Nick! 😂
It probably is the Bellagio in Vegas, out of the true id say I prefer the Casino as its architecture is stunning and since its creation in the late 90s it redefined the standards of what could be a resort or Casino in Vegas. The fountains at the Bellagio are quite possibly, the best in the world and nobody ever complains about hearing Americans in Vegas, they fit in perfectly and are a joy to listen to. In Italy? Not so much. It’s always been a pet peeve of mine to hear English spoken in non English speaking countries, it really grates. I’m at my happiest when nobody understands me and I don’t understand them either, that’s what makes a holiday for me and it really forces you to learn a language to adapt. Here comes the choo choo! I love that! 😂 Still im glad I’ve been, always wanted to go and never got round to it. There are plenty of Italian places on Lake Como that aren’t attracting the tourists so we only have ourselves to blame when we visit them!
Bellagio really looks like a beautiful place to visit and explore😍 with lots to see , gorgeous views, quaint little cobblestones streets, picturesque buildings, stunning lake etc...but geez it is so darn busy and touristy. I must admit, considering how popular it is, the prices for the ferry, restaurant and even the gelato where reasonable but that bucket hat not so much🙁..110 euros...wow... tourist bait...wait...did I hear an american accent...with tax that'll be 150 euros now... thank you sir...y'all come back now ya hearrr... but I digress). It was a great tour of Bellagio....the only thing I know about Bellagio is a hotel in Vegas so you two have opened my eyes! What a beautiful place to visit! I would have been one of those American voices in the background no doubt, and a Brooklyn/California accent too! I also can get seasick on land in the right circumstances so I can empathize with you! This was such a great trip and I do need to mention one thing...in all my years of eating out I have never once seen anyone order French fries with pasta....there I've said it Hugs from Hollywood to the two of you...I hope you have a sense of humor😘🥰
🤣😂 Hi Donna we too have never known us or anyone else order French fries with pasta! But Jill has a huge love for what us Brits call Chips (a much bigger, fatter version of fries) although she was wanting Pasta she had one of her ‘Chip cravings’ but obviously with Bellagio being more popular with Americans their Chips are French fries 😂 we wasn’t disappointed and Jill says it was actually a great combo 👍 thanks for your awesome comment and have a super weekend ❤️

Keep hold of your bucket hat Nick!! Such a pretty area! Loving the cat ladder. Now that bench by the water is totally our thing, looks beautiful, we’d love to jump in that water right now. Why are there always so many stairs? Nice church though! Pretty park but still lots of steps! That ice cream looks pretty special, could just eat that right now. Really enjoyed that, we’re sat here, wine is flowing, our favourite Gen X’s on the telly box. Great work x
🙏 thank you so much guys. you really would love it there. crossing off the ridiculously high mountains there is so much to boss around Como in your style. there is a bus every 30 minutes that does the entire lake and is cheap as chips, there is a faster train that serves the entire east side even cheaper, the ferries are cheap, public transport is key there, which is what you guys are worldclass at. the international milan airports are only an hour away from Como, its on your doorstep! would love to see you guys in this place! there are a few steps in places like Bellagio but far less than i have seen you doing on your Greek Cruise stop offs! love you guys, dont work too hard, looking forward to your video tomorrow 🍻

Your pinned comment made me laugh since I'm American and I would not have expected to hear so many Americans as well 😂 I'm American as well and I went to visit Japan I was so surprised everywhere I went I would hear American accents! That walk on the way to catch the ferry is breathtaking! I love the clouds in the back, the water, and the gorgeous mountains in the background. Lake Como is so beautiful and hopefully I'll get to visit there one day!

I am with you when it comes to not wanting to wait in a queue to get off a boat. I always do the same thing though it's more due to my planter fasciitis than the diesel fumes but of course I don't like those either and I am prone to motion sickness.
Thats an annoying condition Ian, sorry about that. I am very prone to motion sickness and usually need a 12 hour rest after being on a boat as i feel like im still moving for that length of time after! Not smelling the diesel fumes and the short duration seemed to help.

That food looked delicious! But I need you to explain why they served french fries in your meal. That seems like a very British thing to me to have pasta or pizza with french fries. Do Italians really do that? Or did you just order a side of fries?🍟
i think every restaurant there was geared up for the American tourists! had it been full of brits (some mercy there were none), they would have probably offered chips and all day breakfasts! i think they picture Americans eating fries with their meal, we couldnt resist them! Fries as a side is really common in the very touristy parts of Lake Como..

Bellagio is a very pretty town but I think you've highlighted the main issue with visiting it and that it's extremely well known by tourists outside of Italy and it's loved to death by them! I horrify people when they ask for recommendations about visiting Lake Como and I say don't go to Bellagio there are lovely towns all along the lake that are a lot less crowded. It's as if I've told them their favourite relative had died! I personally like Menaggio, just across the lake, much, much quieter, it is smaller but as scenic and it's easy to get a table at a cafe right next to the lake as there are so few people!
🤣😂 guess between the both of us we have nailed it with Bellagio! Yes we visited Menaggio 3 years ago and ate Lake side it was beautiful and we did nearly do it again but felt we needed to see Bellagio as not been before! We also like Bellano and Gravedona but there are lots, like you said, lovely towns along the lake! 👍❤️
