I've never heard somebody say "if you dont like the video dislike" its really creative. Love the video, it helped me a lot!
dude thank you! Im suprised at how easy this is. i have an old laptop with a broken hard drive slot so booting an OS from a USB was the only way to use it, I repurposed it into my office PC and its been great!
Hey. Could you please make a tuitorial covering how to set up antix in an old machine? Oh and a bonus - you could add how to convert the machine to a sort of home server.
Youd have literally saved me. thanks
I could! Never heard of it, so I'll have to do some research.
Thanks I needed a reminder on how to do this. For the record though it's Rufus is like doofus in proncounciation and Mate is more like Mart-A
seems like this will work better than balena, fingers crossed.
Can I have Ubuntu, and Linux mint on one USB drive? Or do I need separate ones or overriding one to use 2 os's? Because I want to try Ubuntu and mint on many devices.
Why not ventoy instead of rufus?
make sure partition scheme is MBR . Why, I don't know ?
The comment no one sees until it takes forever to install or boot😂
video idea: best operating system for different uses, ie best for gaming, best for coding, best for etc.
Coding : Linux
Everything else : Windows and it's not even close
@@electricspeedkiller8950windows comes with a fvck ton of bloatware, use some distro of Linux which is specifically designed for gaming. That would increase your fps significantly.
thank you it helped a lot
When I click on the SELECT button, it pulls up the Download file in File Manager, but the ISO file doesn't show up. When I go into File Manager from my taskbar, the Rufus.exe file is there. Currently using Windows 10. What am I doing wrong?
having the same problem, it's only letting me download windows 11, but not letting me load the Linux Mint ISO
will this work in a chrome books bio?
If you removed the screw on the inside of the machine, or unlocked the BIOS depending on the Chromebook, yes.
when i click on the linux freedom link it does not auto download should i click ftp or http to get the download?
mirrors.kernel.org/linuxmint/stable/20.3/linuxmint-20.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso
nothing about MBT or GPT
No need. It's Linux.
@@SargeantsTechTipsok thank you
Heres a question, does it also use the harddrive as storage or is it only the usb?
It won't save any of the data once the system is rebooted, and you boot back into the USB.
So I bought this laptop off ebay for cheap and it's locked with some weird education type windows. It's very weird. I think it may have originally been from a college or school. When I went to do the steps for linux mint everything seemed fine but I noticed it says ntfs on the format option. It says ntfs and no option to change it even though it's formatted to fat 32. Do you think I should redo it? I mean the install didn't show any errors. I'm unable to actually see if it'll boot right now I have to wait on the charger I ordered.
NTFS is fine, I wouldn't worry about it.
@@SargeantsTechTips Ok thank you. I hope it works. If It can actually boot I'll make it the main os. I mainly only want this so I can play project zomboid which I hear runs better in linux. Tutorial was great. If it fails it'll most likely be from some admin lock on the bios. Don't know if that's the case but here's hoping it's not. Do you know of any programs on mint where I could make a still wallpaper that has background music?
Can someone help me out? I’ve got an image and used Rufus and it works on pcs with windows but it won’t run on a machine that already has Linux. Does a bootable usb with Linux inside need something special to run on a machine with Linux already on it?
You can use a linux alternative to rufus, like etcher
Thank you!
Can you please link the follow up video 🙏 where we add this to a VM
What type of virtual machine software are you using? I can do a video on that.
@@SargeantsTechTips virtualbox
I can do that. I'll make a quick video on how to install Linux Mint I'd assume I'm Virtual Box?
i guess unetbootin is nonetbootin these days
Maybe you could try speaking a bit faster.
A lot of these computer nerd videos are like that... You can slow down the playback speed, and I recommend .75 speed. .50 makes them sound drunk. lol
