    Nice job. I own the e520 but I changed the T1600 cpu into T3400. I also tried the t9500, but it did not work. How were you able to update the bios? Where did you get the 1.1 version? I have the 1.04.

      Aloha, if you would like a better experience in: web browsing, watching clips on youtube and you would like to open the programs faster then the upgrade defiantly worth it, but if you would like to use the laptop for gaming, do not bother with the upgrade, because the laptop is too old for gaming. I wanted to ask you, I would like to buy the cpu soon, do you think the extreme x7900 can work? Or is the TT700 just fine? How did you find yourself? Did the PC work fine? If I put on an Extreme will I have overheating problems or just a little more than normal?

    • @redigitt
      @redigitt  3 года назад +1

      I never had or used a laptop with x7900 CPU TDP 45W, but usualy a higher TDP CPU is hooter.
      This is my theory, maybe I'm wrong or maybe not.
      If your original CPU was a 27W TDP Celeron and you upgrade to a 45W TDP x7900, then in theory the CPU will use with 66,6% more power = more heat.
      27W............100%
      45W............x
      ===============
      (45x100):27= 166,6
      But if you upgrade to a 45W TDP CPU, then you should use a very good quality thermal paste and thermalpad.
      Good luck and please leave a comment how went the upgrade, how hot was the CPU, I am very curious.

      @@redigitt Hi thanks for the answer and for your help, personally I don't know how to update the bios in old laptops, where should I find the Bios file for Emachines E520? Could you give me a right link?
      The laptop is all original as from the factory, the only thing I did was change the HDD because the one it had was broken, I had an identical one and changed it by installing win 7.
      Intel Celeron M 2GHz CPU.
      Intel graphics GPU.
      HDD Z5K500-500 500Gb 5400RPM HTS545050A7E380.
      2Gb DDR2 ram.
      Intel GL40 chipset.
      For the windows installation I used a USB 2.0 ISO image drive with Rufus.
      Regarding the installation of windows 10 it did not start, perhaps because I had created other partitions with Aomei partition assistant, but that in the end I managed to solve and get everything back as it was before. So if I try now it may be that it will let me install it. But the problem was about MBR or GPT because usually win 10 is better with GPT, but if I do it from GPT I get a screen that says to redo the key with rufus in MBR. This I don't know if it concerns why the bios is old or other components like the CPU.

      You can download the BIOS file from the official support page www.emachines.com/ec/en/US/content/drivers.html
      1. download the BIOS file and unrar
      2. disable the Wifi card or unplug the LAN cable
      3. restart the laptop
      4. and only now run the KAWE0110.exe, you don't want to update the windows or any program when you update the BIOS
      Warning!
      During the update procedure:
      Make sure your battery is charged minimum at 25%.
      Make sure your system is connected to AC power.
      Do not disconnect the PC from the AC power.
      Do not shut down or reboot the PC.
