I wasn't looking for speed when I built it. I was looking for pulling power and I got it fine with that setup. I asked others about doing a Holley setup on it and they told me if I didn't mind it drinking a lot do that. I got it tuned so fine with that carb that you could barely hear it under the hood at idle. Plus I achieved very nice pulling power at around 2000 rpm's at 65 mph. I could also cruise 30 mph at a 1000 sustainable rpm's which was very nice.
Reed Parkinson, So its now a few days past 7 years since this video was posted. How did the truck work out? Did you noticed much of a change in power and fuel mileage?
I've seen the 300 with all the way up to 268H but if you want to use your truck for lower RPM and get any kind of mileage up to 256 is about the best. I don't remember who made a 256? The 252 Comp is a little easier to come by.
Everything I've built in 50 years regardless of what it is usually starts up without too much cranking because I do all the preliminary checks Andre adjustments before I ever turn the key like a lot of these guys they start stuff it backfires doesn't run right dies or something or they forget something and there a shop on TV

The serpentine setup came from a newer EFI 300 6
Did you run into any cooling problems with that? From what I understand the water pump spins reverse of a v belt setup?
very nice ................................
I couldn't help but notice that fox body wasn't doing any freeway pulls
What kind of rebuild kit did you use? I'm rebuilding mine this spring once I'm done plowing.
Nice motor. Will the later model 300's fit a 66 galaxie
It's all about the sump setup
what did you use for a donor engine to get the serpentine belt parts?
You can get them off the late model with the 300. I believe like 90-94/93
Anything 1987-1996 will have the serpentine setup
How much power did u pick up
You pick up none till you put a 4 barrel on it
Advance the timing a few degrees
any newer vids yet?
How dare you keep that one barrel
mechanical king
Need 2 barrel carb for 5.0 / 302 off a mustang, offenhauser intake Manifold
Is that stock exhaust?
Adam Grotefendt Yes and it sucks
Going for gas milage thats funny
Does the truck feel stronger?
Will it get it now
Don't Burn that Starter up.......ouch!

Is that an '85 or better head?
WHY IN THE HELL would you use that GOD AWFUL stock exhaust manifold. At least switch to the EFI manifolds.
Poor engine. That lawn mower carb is choking the shit out of the motor.
jim davidson as well as those manifolds
I have the same cam with efi exhaust topped off with a Holley 600. It really runs great.
This engine needs four double carbs
