Nets had the star power. The problem is they had nothing on the bench & lacked all around at the C position. They reminded me a little of the 2010-2011 Miami Heat where they had the Big 3, but was god awful basically everywhere else
Their problem also before Vince got there is they had no one who could create their own shot. All their points came off fast breaks from great defense on the other end. That team was so stagnant in the half court. No 20ppg scorer during that time.

Kobe and Gary Payton where in this interview and GP tried jokingly to move onto another subject and Kobe didn't deny it. It's not the first time we've seen a player refuse to go to a team they're drafted by, Dominique refused to play in Utah so he was traded to Atlanta and Steve Francis refused to play in Canada then was traded to Houston. Kobe isn't stupid, he knows he'll win FA in New Jersey and Charlotte. He'd be in a far better situation in LA and he clearly made the right decision and I don't blame him.

That Nets team was never really good. At that time, being champion of the East didn't mean anything, there were about 4 or 5 teams in the West capable of beating any team in the East, like Dallas, Lakers, Spurs and the Sacramento Kings. The Nets won the East, but they weren't even close to winning the NBA title.

That Nets team was never really good. At that time, being champion of the East didn't mean anything, there were about 4 or 5 teams in the West capable of beating any team in the East, like Dallas, Lakers, Spurs and the Sacramento Kings. The Nets won the East, but they weren't even close to winning the NBA title.
