It's not the looks that are bad about this car, looks are personal opinion, however quality of materials, gas mileage and overall practicality are not. they're bad
Tim Lucas I think for a couple reasons: The Flex is a polarizing vehicle looks wise for people where the Explorer is your more “safe” and traditional styled SUV. It’s a shame the Flex doesn’t sell more because IMO it’s a better vehicle than the Explorer in several ways. It has slightly more 2nd row leg room, more rear cargo space, it’s easier to get in and out of due to its lower ride height and it rides nicer as well
@@thehawk05 neither are better or worse than the other. They both have their pros and their cons. Just like everything else in life. It's what's suitable personally for you that matters.
We have Flex 2013. We love it a lot. Its very spacious without being necessarily a big SUV like Tahoe or Suburban. No complains for us after 5 years owning it. It is our ultimate vehicle. I hope they continue making this car.
The flex is a love it or hate it vehicle , I for one absolutely love the Ford flex. I thought they were going to discontinue them . Thanks for the review love watching.
love this car. far and away the most practical and useable 3 row crossover. if i need a 3 row i would look no place else. bench mark in the segment. most underated... but the people who know... they know...
While I love the ford flex, I'd argue about the 3rd row useability. I have a 2015 pathfinder and accessing the third row is way easier due to how the 2nd row seats flip forward. Also, in the flex, if you want to use that lower rear-storage (visible when third row is up), you cannot flatten the 3rd row, because you'll have stuff in the storage area where the seats fold into, it turns into kind of useless space, unnecessarily annoying. Also, I will never buy another nissan, our pathfinder has had nothing but problems (transmission replaced at 40k miles, multiple issues with tailgate lift arms, odd rattles, interior coming apart with light use, etc, etc). But it does have nice cargo space and great 3rd row seats.
I recently got a 2018 with captains chairs in the middle row. They do move forward to create more space for the third row. Just thought I would mention for any potential buyers. Lastly, I love the automatic parallel parking. :)
We have a 2014 SEl and we love it. you can have a conversation at 75 mph at normal room talking level...... lot of suvs and crossovers we tried failed that. Its soo comfortable and for its size gets great mileage. We tried over 25 different crossovers and suvs and always came back to the Flex for the room, comfort, mileage, passenger size and overall shape. ITs a great car.
I have a 2014 Flex limited with AWD eco boost and I love it. Best family vehicle we’ve ever owned. Ours came with the entertainment package with the headrest DVD players and second row captains chairs and our kids love it! The only thing I don’t care for is the road noise, it’s not loud just not great. As a Dad I refused to get my wife a minivan. The paddle shifters and 365 HP sold it for me. This is by far one of the most practical and functional family vehicles around.
This looks just like mine. I bought the 2018 Limited in the same color a few weeks ago. No doubt, it's an unusual look. Kind of like Al Capone's station wagon. It has huge seating but we just fold everything down for hauling our dogs or transporting IT equipment for my job. One dog is a Great Dane - hence the need for a long vehicle. The interior feels cavernous and it's so very comfortable! If you need versatility or ability to transport a lot of people comfortably, don't judge it by first looks. I thought it looked ridiculous at first look, then I drove it, then I bought it.
We have a 2014 Ford Flex SEL, bought it new and now it’s paid for. It’s an awesome car. I’m 6-4. The back seat is more comfortable than the front seat, the car is a limo. The height is perfect, don’t sit on the floor but not too high like a typical truck. It’s perfect for people with mobility issues. The SEL has manual folding seats but they are just as good, they fold just like the video, drop the head rests, fold back flat then pull the straps and the seat unfolds flat. The middle seats fold flat too.
it sucks that Ford is discontinuing this beast. this is the best SUV around. it's got alott of power from take off and top end. that 3.5 ECOBEAST is fast. my does the whole 140mph and goes 0-60 in a good 4 secs. I'm not scared to open the ECOBEAST up and it moves. I've ran chargers and mustangs and have left them with no problems. alot of room which is the best part. amazing handling and amazing MPG for a 5k pound tank 23-25 MPG. I'm buying another one before they stop making them. I recommend these too everyone. 5/5 star.
I totally agree. I owned a 2014 SEL AWD and my wife and I loved it. I totally agree, I traded the 2014 for 2015 Limited AWD and my wife and I loved it. I totally agree, I traded the 2015 for a 2016 Limited AWD and my wife and loved it. I totally agree, I traded the 2016 for a 2019 Limited AWD and my wife and I loved it. Now I only have a 2021 Ram 1500 (To tow a travel trailer) and we enjoy it. I totally agree, my wife and I miss our Ford Flex. My wife and I just loved them !

I never took notice of the Flex til yesterday when one was parked in front of my job. Really cool-looking up close. I've never been an SUV guy. Biggest thing I ever had was my aunt's old Crown Vic she gave me and it felt like driving a tank. I used to call it the Millennium Falcon. But I could see myself behind the wheel of one of these. I dig 'em.
Bought an SEL in February. Good ride. Windshield is defective. The Carlite Soundscreen windshield developed stress fractures and is slowly cracking horizontally in many spots. Not impact damage as I haven’t hit any thing. Almost all driving has been done on residential low speed roads.
Mike H yeah and I was hoping they would’ve given it the new ford steering wheel this one is the same from previous gen ford models .. and they should have changed out seat fabrics for ‘18 idk but you just can’t beat the value especially with the Ecoboost engine! We’re looking to trade in our ‘14 Edge limited and from the video it doesn’t seem more luxurious than the edge but we need the extra seats.. 🤔🤔

Thank you for this review! We need to get a new car..prefer an SUV or Van but my Mom is limited in her movement ability and cannot step up into something too high. The only thing I do not like about this car is that it's the same body style for quite some time. I really wish more manufacturers would make a larger size wagon. Well we will for sure test one of these. Thank you again!
I love my 2013 Flex but it does have its imperfections. As big as it looks from the outside it's actually not much wider than your average midsize sedan. The super thick door panels don't help either. The second row is a tight fit for 3 average size adults and the seat belt buckle placement is so awkward that you can forget about fitting a car seat and two adults unless some one is riding without a seatbelts or sitting on a buckle. Unless you absolutely need to seat 7 all the time I highly recommend opting for the captains chairs second row and sending the kids to the third row. I would also recommend a roof rack to store extra luggage on road trips so you dont have to sacrifice the the third row for the space. And of course gas mileage. .

We just bought a 2018 Ford Flex select with a 60/40 split second row bench. Our intention was to put our toddler in the middle and our two older kids on either side. This is not working for us because the child sitting behind the driver has no way of clicking their seatbelt in underneath the child seat. Is there a way to configure the Ford Flex 2nd row such that we can put a child seat in the middle and still allow the passenger behind the driver to use a seatbelt? The equipment that came with the Ford Flex that we just purchased does not allow us to do this. Is there a way to swap out equipment or modify the second row so we can do this? Bear in mind, our child seat is one of the narrowest in the industry. We really want our older kids to be next to the doors and our toddler in the middle.
This is a problem I've also had with my 2013. The way the belts are set up in the second row make it impossible to fit a car seat plus two people. Even trying to buckle in three people without a car seat is hard. Luckly my kids prefer the third row. Those seats were practically built for car seats/boosters.
I do not know how you cannot do this as it is the exact same set up we have. Our infant is in the middle and our older child's car seat is behind the driver's seat. Check the manual.
@@Mowglibaloo2 , What year is yours? Ours is a 2018 SEL. It has the airbag seatbelts for the window seats in the 2nd row. The middle seating area is very narrow.
I really like the body style (I'm a sucker for wagons, been driving a subaru wrx wagon for 10 years now), but my biggest issue with the flex is the trunk storage. With the 3rd row up, there's a lower trunk storage area which is nice, since it keeps things from moving around. But if you want to hide one of the 3rd row seats, you have to move stuff out of that storage area...and if you put both 3rd row seats into the hidden position, that cargo/storage area disappears (have to take everything out). I don't understand this design decision. We have a 2015 pathfinder (not a fan of nissan engines/cvt), but they have much better 3rd row seats and storage, it seems more usable. If the under trunk rear storage was usable with the 3rd row down we'd own one a ford flex today instead of the pathfinder. We test drove a 2014, but since it's our family car (3 kids in child seats, we need that storage space), it was a dealbreaker.
He didn't show it off but the other side has a button you push and the car seat does the same thing he showed but completely automatic...my kids LOVE it and it is so easy!
To me, I like the boxy shape. Gives it a unique look
It's not the looks that are bad about this car, looks are personal opinion, however quality of materials, gas mileage and overall practicality are not. they're bad

Its an Expedition with a lowered suspension..
No it's on a Taurus platform with a Taurus engine
How much is it?
Good leg and calve muscles 💪🏼🙃
So it’s like a Range Rover limousine
That’s hard
I love the Flex!
I love the dising inside and outside. Nice car and good video. Adios amigo✌️
“Large” ... where’s the large at?
This looks like an Americans idea of a station wagon
I love the design of this suv💥🔥
Dave, great review.
Love the styling, this reminds me of a Lada Riva or a Volvo 245.
I wish it was tall. I miss the 2010-2013 Transit Connect. This is like a smushed Transit Connect but plush.
They still make this?
So cool to hear the rock music from loudwire on this video
Cool car. Road trip ready🏎
I wish there was a better way to get inside the 3rd row.
He didn't show it off but the other side has a button you push and the car seat does the same thing he showed but completely automatic...my kids LOVE it and it is so easy!
But you've never state what the sticker price is....
If I was living in USA , Flex would be my choice easily...
I'm thinking about one of these or a mkt
This is such a cool looking vehicle
