- 🐥How To Perform a Bird Physical Exam 🐥
Follow along for an overview of what a vet exam looks like for avian patients. A physical exam may look scary for first-time bird owners, however it’s an important part of keeping your bird healthy, as they often hide signs of illness. 🦆
For more information on bird care, check out the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) website. 🐓
Special thanks to my lovely bird volunteer, Mojo. 🦜

The bird was so calm during the exam ❤
It’s amazing how a vet can instantly examine any pet and they’re usually at ease but would bite me if I tried it
As a vet student, thanks for this educational vid, Doc!❤
Awww a caique! I have one they are so cute
This is one of the best examinations I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! So interesting. I give my backyard chickens a similar condition check at least every 6 months, without the stethoscope or your training. I wish there were a local vet I could take them to. The vets around me don't do poultry.
Excellent video!
The only thing I knew was to be sure the poop 💩 is “normal” lol
Or if they quit eating or drinking and stay at the bottom on their cage
Brilliant quick guide! Thanks so much!!!
That's a lot doc! I live in an area that don't have any avian vets so we need to teach our selves about bird illnesses and problems. Are there any more resources you would recommend for such cases? Great content, subscribed
Very informative!! Thank you Doc.. We have a few birds and you can see them on little wings ❤ Following you so I can help keep my birds healthy and happy ❤️💛
Thanks a lot 🙏🏼
So I found a lovely green parakeet on the road with cut wings fur loss and starving. The bird was exhausted and rough looking. I took it in, kept it for 3 days and it got better. To be extra cautious and sure about its health I took it to a vet. He didn’t do any of these examinations he didn’t even take the bird out of the cage. He sprayed the bird with two different substances and dropped a liquid on it as well. The poor bird died 8 hours later. I am devastated. I am telling you this vet did nothing like the one in the video did. He just bathed a sick bird in chemicals. Is this considered a standard procedure?
I love your videos❤, but I got a question, how did you know you wanted to be an exotic veterinarian?
any tips on the handling/restraining method for parrots or birds in general?
First!
n school I'm doing a project about what job you want to be about when you grow up so I have a question, what are hard part s about being a avian vet?

Dear Dr. I have 25 years experience with macaws. My question l am thinking about buying another one but the owner has cancer. Could the macaw be sick or will she get sick. The lady who owns the macaw is getting chemo. My friend had got cancer needed chemo with in 3 months her 2 dogs died, her 2 cats died her rabbit died and 2 of her cats died so l am Leary? Can a bird get cancer from a person having cancer getting chemo? Thank you so much.🌹
I know the question is not for me but I saw in another video that birds cannot be around a person getting chemo. It didn't say if the bird would get cancer, but my understanding is that they will not get cancer, but they will get affected by the radiation that is still in the body, I guess... I'll try to find the video.
@@LP-qy5wb Hello, thank you very much for your help. I know my friend had cancer and while getting treatment her 2 dogs died within 2 weeks of each other then 2 cats died, a rabbit and her bird. I appreciate you. Have a Beautiful Sunday!! ❤️🐦❤️👍Oh l wrote that already sorry still asleep.
Glad to help. I shared the link but it looks like it's not allowed to share links here...? Well, the video is called "Do's and Dont's for Parrot Owners!" and it was published by Petland Norwin.
